Minato can't defeat incomplete susanoo
Minato can't gen close to itachi because he can use amaterasu as a defense
and most of all minato doesn't have counter for sharingan genjutsu. End xD

Give a bit more information and I will post my opinion.
For example the starting distance is very important as it will determine whether or not Minato will be able to blitz with his base speed.

minato crushes susano by dropping gamabunta on it.

ftg>amaterasu

too fast for genjutsu and if he gets into a cqc skirmish and itachi tries grabbing his head like he did to kakashi, minato just teleports away.

I personally think it would play out like this, minato and itachi stand apart from each other on opposite sides of a terrain, itachi shoots a fire ball jutsu at minato in which minato's response is to quickly and effectively move out of the way.

While suspended in midair, he throws his special kunai above itachi and also prepares a rasengan but as he gets close enough to utilize it, itachi surrounds himself with Amaterasu in which minato quickly retreats from (his speed is a key factor to his survival).

At this point, itachi becomes the aggressor and advances toward with taijutsu, during this, minato is able to block and counter many attacks with his hand, (thus marking itachi). Itachi then retreats for distance but is shocked when he realizes minato disappeared. He feels a kunai slash his throat and falls to the ground. Minato believes he has won, but itachi turns into crows and scatters. Ultimately I say....Draw. (This battle could of course go on and on as I didn't mention genjutsu or susanoo.)

Manga intel?minato died whil itachi was abt 4 or so,so minato dosent know abt his genjutsu prowess, which means he dosent know abt his tsukiyomi, while itachi obviously heard rumors abt his speed and ftg.

So manga knowledge shows that minato has no knowledge on itachi's genjutsu, which means itachi wins

Off to a good start?
All itachi has to do is raise his totsuka sword upwards and gamabunta will be sealed

Ftg> amaterasu.. true, but what's your argument? Minato's battle style is oriented around continuous movement.. In the few fights we've seen , he doesn't keep moving constantly... that would be a waste of chakra... I mean at the beginning of the fight he must first scatter his kunai... If your argument is simply that he's too fast for genjutsu, then it's not good enough... If he's making eye contact with itachi, at the beginning it's over ...similar to what happened to Deidara...

With no knowledge what so ever of Amaterasu, he won't be aware of the presigns that signal it, if you're going to argue that he isn't making eye contact..that makes it even worse... with no knowledge of amaterasu and no eyecontact, It leave Minato wide open from getting hit by amaterasu

Fail at the genii96
minato already came to know about obitos teleportation within seconds and moreover he is the most intellectual person in narutoverse
quick thinking and analytical skills are better than itachi should i say
so dont give that shit

Manga knowlege? we dont know what they knew eachother in the manga. So unless further clarified im going to assume basic intel.

I.E. Minato knows that Itachi is a Genjutsu beast and has Ama, Tsuki, and Sunsano'O, Itachi knows of Minato's Speed and uses S/T

Give a bit more information and I will post my opinion.

Itachi and Minato have about the same base and Shunshin speed. Minato can't blitz. If anything Itachi has the upperhand by having Sharingan Pre-cog.

That analysis is coming up soon

It's your opinion he's the most intellectual person in the naruto verse, Itachi has many feats equal to what Minato did.. and Minato isn't the only person to figure out tobi's abilty in moments from fighting him.... eg fu and torune, kakashi etc

Nah, Minato would obviously know little to nothing about Itachi, as he died before itachi was a kid , He should knows that uchihas are capable in genjtusu
Itachi..like the entire world, knows of Minato obviously.. he even knew his wife , how he became hokage, and gave naruto a lecture on his father... Use that as a basis to what you think Itachi knows

Minato wins this one, Minato and Itachi are the two most intelligent shinobi in Naruto. I would expect Minato to know a lot about the sharingan as he believed that Obito was Madara. He must have made a lot of research on who Madara is and what jutsu's he posses, meaning he may know about the Susano'o and or Amateratsu. This would give him a large advantage in the fight as he would have had prep time and would have been able to plan some situations during the battle if a MS user were to use his Susano'o or Amateratsu. However even if he didn't know anything about them, he has showed to be able to analyze techniques in great detail with only one use, such as Kakashi's chidori, and has been able to create the rasengan using his observational skills by watching the Kyuubi make a TBB. Minato also has an amazing offense which is combined with his FTG making him almost invincible.

Minato also has shown to have a great offense which is combined with his FTG making him almost invincible. His normal Rasengan is supposedly the size of a big ball Rasengan meaning it may be a one shot technique. Minato has large chakra reserves considering the fact he can summon Gamabunta, or use him in the technique; Food cart destroyer. If Minato where to use Food cart destroyer on a full sized Kurama and and pin him down for a decent amount of time, it should easily be able to flatten a complete Susano'o.

Now if Itachi were to turn on his complete Susano'o and use Yasaka Magatama, then Minato should easily be able to create a space-time barrier and teleport it to one of his FTG kunai's which have been dispersed on the floor, or throw a FTG kunai and make the Magatama teleport to that kunai. This means the only thing Itachi would be capable of doing is putting Minato under Genjutsu or using Amateratsu, which would be on a huge disadvantage against someone who is constantly on the move like Minato.

If Itachi got the slightest opportunity to use Genjutsu, than he would definitely use it. Putting Minato under Genjustu such as the one he used on Naruto would be easily blocked by Minato with Genjutsu Kai within seconds, as Genjutsu Kai takes good chakra control, and judging from his Rasengan and him being Hokage his chakra control must be great. On the other hand if Itachi where to use Tsukoyomi Minato would be finished, but he will not use Tsukoyomi as easily as people would expect him to. Someone who may FTG at any moment puts someone like Itachi with extremely low chakra reserves and stamina at a huge risk of using any jutsu ineffectively let alone Tsyukoyomi (as well as amateratsu), something which takes large amounts of chakra if it hits or misses, which is a 50/50 chance.

Logically, this would go to Minato. Depending on the circumstance of how the match begins, that will truly decides who wins this match up. In order for a combat situation to begin, both fighers have to acknowledge one's opponent, if Minato is caught in a Genjutsu before the fight begins, he's essentially at a loss. But if he manages to evade that kind of situation, he'll be more than capable of winning this match up.

His entire arsenal is perfect for countering both Itachi and the MS, with Amaretsu becoming effectively useless whilst Susann'o becomes more of a defensive measure than a offensive one.

Intelligence here seems to be a non-factor, with arguably both fighters being equally matched.
