yes and no..... yes-doing this does decrease power due to the fact that being defeated causes stress to the body. when the level of stress increase your body will need a new source and it calls upon the higher lvl for help.
no- because stress is not being caused to the body. even though ur power is dropping nothing will happen.

your thinking of a empty void. when i said place i meant an empty peaceful place. like mountains. ur home. but you must only think of that and nothing else.
