Never said this. I said swordsmen, which a person who doesn't use a sword in their core fighting style is not.


That's not the same thing.

1. Madara said Gai is the best Taijutsu user he's ever faced. The word best indicates skill at Taijutsu, rather than strongest in overall fighting capability.

2. Taijutsu user has been specified in the Naruto series as someone who uses little to no Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, relying almost completely or completely on Taijutsu. Sasuke does not fall into this category.


That is not even close to true or the same as what I said.

I said Mihawk's title as WSM makes him stronger than any swordsman. Simply having a sword on your belt doesn't make you a swordsman, so not anyone who carries a sword is a swordsman. That means that a swordsman isn't comparable to a person who just carries a gun. A swordsman is comparable to someone like Yasopp or Lafitte who utilize firearms as part of their core combat.

We've never seen Shanks fight or even know if he has a Devil Fruit or not.

Taijutsu is hand to hand combat.

Mihawk refused to fight Shanks twice while Shanks was ready to take on the entire Shichibukai and Marines. Sounds like fear to me.

If Shanks knew Mihawk was stronger then him, then he wouldn't be so stupid as to challenge everyone knowing he along with his crew would get massacred.

It's also not a deadlock if Garp meant they are the 4 strongest pirates since they have the strongest crews and the most influence.

They're literally same except for the last part so there is no reason to believe that Mihawk's title is any different.


Regarding the topic:


As Bogard said, you're a swordsman as long as you have swordsmanship as your primary fighting style and you'd fall under Mihawk's title if swordsmanship is your art of expertise. We have no reason to believe why someone who once rivaled current WSSM isn't a swordsman. Besides Oda made them rivals for a reason. Whenever something involving Shanks is mentioned , Mihawk automatically gets involved in it. Why'd Oda specifically focus on Mihawk leaving MF when Shanks went to stop war? Why'd he have Shanks and Whitebeard say his name even now if he's already surpassed by Shanks? It doesn't even make any sense. Moreover, if Shanks with both arms is a rival to Mihawk then what stops Mihawk from being stronger than one armed Shanks? They represent Luffy and Zoro, right? I am pretty sure Zoro would be stronger than Luffy if he were to lose any arm no matter how much he trains with one arm. So what's so why's that people act as if Mihawk can't be stronger than Shanks?

As of now I would say yes unless later on it is specifically mentioned that Shanks doesn't somehow is an exception to the WSS matter.

Shanks isn't stronger than Mihawk because of (Yonko>SWS), but that Shanks is the captain of one of the strongest crews in the OP world...

Bro we don't know what Shanks can do wit his haki. Half of WB's crew fainted when he used Conqueror Haki. He easily stopped Akainu's Lava Punch with his sword which made 2 holes in WB's body.Those titles means nothing in OP. For example: God Ussop. U think Ussop can beat anybody because he is God now ?
About the strongest crew thing, bro shanks stopped kaido(WSC). I m sure Shanks was the one who fought kaido, rest of his crew stopped guys like Jack, other 2 calamities, 100kaido pirates.

One thing I need people to consider while comparing people with Mihawk,
Different Warlords caught WG's eye because of their significant activities and that they did with the help of their respective crews while Mihawk roamed the seas alone....

Wrong. Mihawk was not the only guy who roamed alone.
Moriah lost his crew when he fought Kaido.
If I remember properly Perona & Hogback were only guys left in his crew that joined him later.
Perona joined Mihawk now.

Since when was it indicated that Shanks fighting style requires both arms? For all we know he could be a one handed sword/kicks based fighter.

And Also I believe (not 100% sure) that Oda stated that Shanks losing an arm didn't affect how strong he is.

Even if Mihawk>Shanks it doesnt prove that he is stronger than anyone else...Luffy>Enel, but Overall i feel that Enel has better DF matchup vs most characters...So thisw relates that even if Mihawk>Shanks in sword combat, it doesnt mean that shanks isnt a better match up vs most characters...

Mihawk has no crew, he is a one man army, to be able to be a yonkou one needs a strong crew aswell.
They are yonkous because they own terrotories etc. Which you cant even handle if u are alone. or you need a ****ing strong crew like shanks.
Now switch positions: If mihawk had shanks crew he would easily be a yonkou aswell, i am not saying mihawk>shanks because i dont know but that yonkou argument doesnt count.

what i try to tell you guys is: a yonkou could never be a yonkou without his crew, there a individuals in one piece who are able to compete with the yonkou leaders(kaidou,big mom,shanks,blackbeard) but they have got no crew. do you think dragons revolutionary army could have so much impact without so many members? same goes for the yonkou. for example kadious first calamitie we saw was jack, and he is a ****ing admiral level fighter and i guess his other calamities aswell. they are yonkous because they got a crew so strong to start a war. zzzzz

I am pretty certain the whole going after Whitebeard's head thing with Kaido is different from how we've been imagining it. It's more than likely at this point in manga that it was one of suicide attempts of Kaido in which case he went alone to attack Whitebeard and his fleet. So it was Kaido VS Shanks along with his crew. How Shanks managed to stop Kaido is a mystery at this point in manga but they likely didn't fight.
