As an observer, I see a Dilemma in the current division of forums and sub-forums.
Following the Closure of Registrations, the Quantity, Time, and Quality of Activity has considerably decreased, therefore increased Quantity of forums would mean less activity in each.
Let me explain what I mean:
Take the General and Chatterbox for instance, two seperate sections "with similar topics" yet one is almost completely Neglected while the other is constant in activity.
If I were to post a thread in Chatterbox, it would hardly get any replies "regardless of Quality" and I would re-post that same thread in the General section, its number of replies would increase several folds.
Another Example would be the Manga, Anime & Comics Section:
Someone made a thread regarding a specific topic in that section today, and it barely got 20 replies, sometime after another thread with the exact same Topic was posted only in a different section and it got over 90 replies!
Same goes for TV / Movies Section Sports, Gaming, Music. and Versus Section - any post there could take hours to get a reply, but if you post it in a more popular section, you almost immediately get a reply!
I've seen members post all kinds of unrelated topics in naruto discussions section simply because it offers the most activity.
A Few examples on the Consequences I see following this little dilemma
1-It is somewhat unfair to thread starters in those neglected sections for their efforts to go unnoticed due to lack of popularity of their section
2-Naturally members will want to post in the section which provides faster responses, so there will be an increase in deliberated wrong sections "rule breaking"
3-Decrease in motivation among members due to feeling ignored/unnoticed - due to so few activity in their specific section
4-Decrease in number of interesting Topics
5-Increase in number of Similar topics
6-Confusion in picking the right section among so many similar
7-Increase in Boredom and lack of interest among members
etc...
I see The Butterfly Effect in motion here, and I suggest a re-examination of this matter..
Perhaps a Merger of General and Chatterbox sections? or at least TV/Movies, Music, Gaming, Sport section? - as I see most topics related to the latter sections posted in general section anyway.
I hope this suggestion was somewhat helpful. Thank you for your time.
