Madara suffered more than Itachi

Being cornered to choose between killing your family (and clan) or betraying the village you love and dying along with your clan does not sound very nice. Oh, and having the one person you love the most (Sasuke, that is) desperately want to kill you does not really sound nice. Plus his entire life was pretending things. He rarely ever lived his own life, unlike Madara.

he chose all that.
he chose to let the uchihas fester in their hate and not beg hiruzen to change the policies.
his entire life was bieng a sadistic torturer.

Itachi is probably the purest character in the series, having the burden of choosing the leaf over his clan knowing that the leaf would provide a better future for shinobi, or at least a better philosophy for shinobi.

no hes just an evil hypocritical coward mindrapist. he chose to torture sasuke to insanity, attempted to murder kakashi and helped kill 6 innocent poeple.
he treated people like they were tools to be manipulated

No itachi did....im sure if madara was asked to kill his own brothers he wouldnt have the guts.
