Nope, you need both strategy and speed to win a battle, and Guy already has that ability to face such powerful opponents. Guy is not on the same level as Kakashi, however 8th Gate allows him to react in an instant before Kakashi could even use his techs. EVEN if Madara didn't allow Guy to open all the 8 Gates, Guy could easily went into 8th Gate because any shinobi who activates this state will temporarily gain powers a hundred times greater than their normal self in no time, so Guy is still faster. 7th Guy was able to land more than 2-3 hits on Rikudo Madara that soloed one of the fastest shinobi who ever lived, Minato.

You know that Guy would have soloed Itachi and Kakashi in an instant. Yata Mirror is nothing compared to Evening Elephant, and all Guy can do is to get behind his Susano and spam his attack. Itachi cannot use Susano everytime, but Itachi's Genjutsu is not that strong enough to hold Guy and he knows well that Guy can fight against Sharingan users.

Itachi's trick he used on Kabuto won't work as Gai does not have personality issues, Kakashi admitted inferiority.
