You don't get it at all. Guy opened all eight gates and was able to fight on par with and gradually overwhelm Madara, much to the latter's excitement. Due to the immense amount of chakra flooding the body all at once, drastic changes can occur upon the user's body. The most common of these changes are the changes to skin colour, eruption of veins around the temples, and the eyes turning completely white.
This is commit suicide, and if one of them strikes the final blow wins even you die. It doesn't mean that you lost to a battle where you won against your opponent, imo. Like I said, the one with final blow wins.

If it weren't for lee, madara would have killed gai before he even had the chance to open the 8th gate. But after that attack, madara stood there like a moron for no reason......

But Madara did not. Could not.... You have to admit that Guy overwhelmed Madara. You haters don't know when to unerstand these kind of facts. We never know that Madara wanted to attack him or not, but that's his fault and Guy soloed him and look how fast Guy attacked him with the first blow ( Madara would have been seriously injured without Juubi's power )
If it was Itachi or Kakashi, then they would have died immediately if Guy used the same first punch which makes like an air cannon.

Lmfao, let me help you understand. Imagine Guy kicked Rikudo Madara and killed him, and Guy used all of his powers so both of them cannot fight anymore, so does it mean that was equal?

Kakashi or Itachi wouldn't let guy use the 8th gate and guy might just retreat before he does against Itachi...he only only will use it if it's necessary

Once you activated all the Gates, which means you can open it in an instant. Even Madara tried to attack, then Guy already went into 8th Gate. You may ask how? You have seen others fight that consists a lot of talking, and why didn't the opponent attack them? This is Kishi's writing and what do you expect from him? It takes a lot of time to explain how a new tech works.

Sorry, but nothing I said was wrong. Madara would have killed gai before he even opened the 8th gate(if it weren't for lee saving him) Furthermore, he even had a convo with kakashi/minato before opening the 8th gate, and madara did nothing. So yeah.......
guy deserves all the praise he is getting....! i agree madara could have fininshed guy before he could open 8th gate but same cannot be said about all other shinobies...! madara didn't fight back but he did his level best to block guy's attacks without getting any damaged but guy still pummeled him....!

Guy retreat? Dude, how long does it take to open up from 6th to 8th Gates, 5 hours? Itachi's arrow or Totsuka can't even land a direct hit on Guy, since the users can activate in an instant. Guy has shown to open the 8th Gate instantly. Genius like Itachi and Kakashi? Don't make me repeat the same thing to you all the time. Guy is not that easy to fool if he is serious. Kakashi or Itachi can't even touch Guy.
Yes, anyone else other than Madara would have killed Gai before he started opening the gates (Obito, Itachi, Kakashi, etc). Gai wouldn't win against anyone else, at least not against shinobi of that level.

Let me repeat until you understand, the one who strikes first wins the battle. Just like Minato vs Obito. Did Madara dodged Guy's Night Month? No, he got kicked on the stomach that made him lost his arm, so if you imagine someone like Madara without Juubi and Hashirama's cells would have been dead, and now you will say that " What's the point, Guy will die too "... Nope, Guy did KILLED him first before he even falls into the ground. Minato won against Obito and he escaped, who won?
