It was too sunny for his taste this certain afternoon - when he dirtied his hands with Water, he liked it be raining. When he spoke of the essence of Wind, he liked for there to be a breeze, no matter how light or strong it might have been. But never sunny. Never. It was the worst possible weather known to man, to be fully exposed to the cruelties of the burning sun. There wasn't even a single cloud!

Adachi sighed. No matter, all of that would be changed soon and hopefully, not by the doing of his own hands but of the prospective student he had agreed to meet with this particular day. He found the emptiness of the Training Grounds rather surprising and it did not take long for him to spot the young, blond shinobi waiting almost restlessly several feet away.

Never one for introductions, Adachi placed himself a good distance before his student, yet just close enough for Tamaki Suoh to notice him. "You wish to learn of Lightning, am I correct?" he questioned, shoving his hands into his pocket and assuming an almost nonchalant stance. "Before I begin, I would like to hear your thoughts and ambitions regarding this particular, rather wild element."

Tamaki was indeed rather restless, looking straight ahead of him and tapping his foot. He was worried about his new training, hoping that he wouldn’t fail and disappoint his new teacher. Yet, this slightly changed when Tamaki felt another presence not too far from him. He turned around and saw his sensei for the first time. Observing Adachi’s stance, Tamaki almost felt too uptight. He forced his body to relax and, in his mind, he urged himself to calm down. The next words that traveled through his mind also came out of his mouth as he answered Adachi’s question.

“Yes, that’s correct.” he said politely. He nodded at Adachi’s next request.

“Well… Lightning is a rather formidable element and shouldn’t be taken lightly,” Tamaki began. “I mean, that could be said of the other elements too, but lightning is different. Lightning could end your life in an instant. Lightning strikes with incredible power and speed, only lasting for a split second, and then it’s gone. That’s how quickly lightning can kill someone, and that’s why it really shouldn’t be taken lightly.”

He shrugged a little and continued after a sheepish laugh.

“I wouldn’t say I have any particular ambitions regarding lightning, sensei. Like all of the other elements, I would like to learn to use it and harness its power. I want to know everything there is to know about lightning and how it could possibly be used in battle. Hopefully, I’ll be able to master it one day, perhaps with your help!”

Tamaki exhaled after his explanation, and he felt relief. He now maintained a comfortable stance as he waited for Adachi’s response with a small smile.

Hesitation wasn't the right word. It was more like a suppressed eagerness, of the youthful passion that seemed to be dominant in almost every new shinobi. Adachi despised the naivety of it, yet was unable to push away his feelings of jealously. To be ignorant once more, to be as bright-eyed and excited for the chance of finally partaking in the Ninja World. To perform one's very own first jutsu! But all of it was only to be swept away, by the cruelties of humankind. Their disgusting greed that never seemed to be culled, the unforgiving species he was part of...

Adachi nodded at Tamaki's description of Lightning, suddenly noting how similar the color of Lightning was to the youth's hair. He hadn't seen a blond in sometime. "Power," he echoed. "Speed. All excellent keywords that describe Lightning. Indeed, its chakra flow can not be placed in quite the same category as any other element." With a single foot, he tapped the earth below him. "Not even this can withstand against Lightning's power. But like everything else, this element is not exempt from a weakness either. Are you aware of Lightning's weaknesses and strengths? Furthermore, do you know which element it combos well with and why?"

Tamaki shifted his weight onto one leg and then the other, determined to keep his body relaxed. He watched as Adachi seemed to evaluate his answer, and Adachi had a serious look on his face. Tamaki wouldn’t let this phase him because it didn’t seem to be an expression of dissatisfaction with Tamaki’s answer. It was more of an expression of deep thought.

Tamaki couldn’t help but feel a weight lift off of his shoulders, since Adachi didn’t immediately start correcting him or anything like that. He measured Adachi’s first careful words, listening intently. His eyes looked down to where Adachi’s foot met the earth and then back up again. Tamaki considered the next questions he had been asked and proceeded to answer.

“I am, sensei. As you said, lightning is strong against earth because it can travel through the ground easily and break it apart. However, lightning is weak against wind, since wind is a natural insulator of electricity. Water is the element that lightning combos well with because water conducts electricity. A water technique could then increase the damage of a lightning technique and vice versa.”

There was a brief pause in our conversation and Adachi was fully aware of the tension in the atmosphere. Nonetheless, he waited patiently before he was delivered an answer and his student chose his words well.

"You are precisely correct," Adachi responded as Tamaki finished his explanation. "Once you complete your understanding and mastery of Lightning, Water could very well be the next element you pursue. However, usage of Lightning and Water together is still dangerous at times as free form Lightning can be rather unpredictable."

He took several steps back while he went through a series of handseals - a shadow fell over sensei and student as clouds rapidly came in to cover the scorching sun, producing rain almost immediately. It was not a particularly heavy rain, but was enough to create puddles in the area.

"I'd like you to take up some of that water in your hand now," Adachi instructed. "Just enough to create a puddle in your hand."

(Such a late response. Sorry. ;_; )

Tamaki almost had no sense of this atmosphere. Either that, or he was desperately trying to ignore it. Regardless, he waited with bated breath for some reason, as though he wanted to be as quiet as possible.

With a small smile, Tamaki nodded, as he was pleased with Adachi’s reaction. He listened carefully and added quickly: “Yes, absolutely. There’s still a large risk that you could electrocute yourself if you used a lightning technique with water.”

Tamaki assumed a fighting stance, since it appeared that Adachi was preparing to use a technique. However, when he looked up at the sky and saw that Adachi had summoned clouds, Tamaki resumed his normal stance. He sighed a little as the rain fell, for it instantly cooled his skin that was baking from the sun.

Tamaki looked back to Adachi and nodded. “Okay, sensei.” He knelt down and reached out for a puddle in front of him. He cupped his hands close together and collected some water. He tried keeping his fingers tightly pressed together as he stood up again, holding the water.

(No worries, I've had a ton of exams these two weeks. x_x)
Adachi observed patiently as his student proceeded to cup some water from a forming puddle near both of their feet's. Struggling to maintain the liquid within his hand, Tamaki glanced at his sensei with something like anticipation as Adachi nodded in approval at the action done.

He walked up to Tamaki and placed a single finger within the puddle, zapping it lightly with a spark of Raiton chakra. It was a shock far from harm, but still enough to surprise anyone. "Given your experience from this," Adachi then said. "Describe to me how you think Raiton chakra might flow and how the element might be executed during battle."

(Yup, same here. D: But now I'm done with school, so that's good ^^)

Tamaki smiled a little when Adachi nodded at him, and he watched carefully as Adachi approached him. Tamaki found his attention absorbed by Adachi's actions. The next thing he knew, Tamaki felt a quick shock through his fingers and hands, even up his arms a bit. It took all he had to keep his hands together and not let the water escape. Tamaki looked up at Adachi, meeting his gaze as he gave Tamaki his next command.

"How Raiton chakra might flow... well, in order to make lightning, a shinobi has to increase the vibrations of their chakra, so for that reason, I imagine that Raiton chakra can flow in quick and powerful bursts. As for how the element might be executed during battle, it can be used in combination with water, as I said earlier. The element can also be used to take control of natural lightning and utilize it, but only if a storm were happening during battle."

Tamaki winced, as he wasn't sure that his explanation was anything close to what Adachi was looking for.

His student gazed almost hesitantly at him, his hands still maintaining the puddle Adachi had electrocuted mere moments ago. Adachi let a small smile grace his lips as he nodded at Tamaki's explanation. "Nothing wrong in what you said," he responded. "Lightning is indeed rapid and does come in powerful bursts. Think of a natural storm - the lightning flashes briefly, yet powerfully, and that is exactly how it works. Normally the fastest of the five elements though Wind can compete at times, Lightning strikes quickly and accurately. Essentially the concepts you mentioned above, including combining it with water or even simply taking over a wide-ranged storm. However, due to its wild nature, it would take more chakra control and a good mastery over shape manipulation in order to maintain it, which is something we progress through in time."

Adachi glanced around him briefly and upon spotting a small rock sitting underneath a tree, he walked over and picked it up. It was not yet damp, like the other areas in the area and was more than suitable for the next technique. "As you know," he said as he walked back to Tamaki. "Lightning is strong against Earth. So, let's start with a small exercise. I'd like you to recall the same feeling you had when I shocked you and then replicate it with your chakra. Call upon your natural affinity and then summon up lightning to break clean through this rock. It may be tough the first time and don't try to use too much chakra at once, but give it your best shot." With those words, Tamaki's sensei placed the rock on his student's hand gently.

No matter how small it was, Adachi’s smile was contagious, for Tamaki found himself smiling too. In fact, he almost grinned like a fool, even though it was only a minor success. Yet, Tamaki didn’t take his concentration away from what Adachi was saying. He liked the way Adachi explained things: simply, yet in a meaningful way.

Tamaki watched with peaked interest as Adachi moved away for a moment. When Adachi returned with a plain, old rock, Tamaki felt a bit puzzled. But, he raised no objections. He once again listened intently to Adachi’s words. Tamaki stuck his right hand out quickly when he realized that Adachi was giving the rock to him. He felt the slight weight of the rock on his palm, bobbing his hand up and down a little. He took his time in mulling over Adachi’s instructions and thinking very hard.

Fear. That’s the feeling Tamaki experienced when Adachi shocked him. The shock hadn’t been nearly enough to do any harm, and in the end, it was only a short pain. However, Adachi said that lightning had a wild nature, which to Tamaki, meant that anything could happen. That’s why he felt such fear. It wasn’t just the shock that sent a jolt through his body, that was certain. Tamaki’s thoughts then drifted to anxiety and how his nerves could send him into a frenzy. He remembered how he described Raiton chakra to Adachi; it could be created by increasing the vibrations of his chakra.

If Tamaki could feel that same fear and anxiety again, then perhaps he could use these feelings to really get his chakra going. He glanced up at Adachi briefly before closing his eyes, willing his fear to return. It crept into the back of his mind. Tamaki let himself worry. What if he electrocuted himself as he tried to cut through the rock? What if, somehow, he electrocuted Adachi? As he accumulated chakra into his hand, Tamaki felt such a tingling in his fingers that he almost couldn’t stand it. He felt as though his brain was buzzing as much as his skin.

Tamaki opened his eyes. Suddenly, he released his chakra, trying not to release so much but to no avail. His Raiton chakra burst in his hand, almost like a spark. He turned his head away as though he was expecting to get hit by something. Yet, when he turned his head back, he examined the rock in his hand. The only problem was that it was no longer a rock; it was a pile of crumbles. Tamaki took a breath in and exhaled, not sure how to react to this result.

Something like anxiety flashed across his student's eyes upon delivery of his instructions, yet Adachi remained silent; observing. His student squeezed his eyes shut, almost as if to escape from some endless nightmare, only to reopen them moments later as something that bore the resemblance to a crackling noise accompanied the action. Tamaki winced, turning his head away from the unexpected sound as Adachi watched with amusement. A small hiss signified the end of his brief display and as his student glanced back down in prominent surprise at the results of his attempt.

Adachi clapped softly as he gave a brief thumbs-up to his student. "And that right there is your very first technique in the Lightning element," he informed Tamaki. "However, before we move on to the next technique, I'd like to teach you a bit about chakra itself. Chakra is an essential part of the Ninja World and mastery over it is a must. As you know, we have a constant flowing system of chakra that grants us to capability to manipulate the five elements. And although not visible, there are 361 points on our body that are able to release this chakra to which we then can form into something of benefit to us. These points are called Tenketsu and the areas upon where they lie are only visible if you possess the Kekkei Genkai of Byakugan. Now, chakra is very special and there are generally two ways to deal with it, known as shape and nature manipulation. Shape manipulation allows us to form this chakra into something we like, the literal form of the chakra and how large or small it be. It also maintains the power of the chakra and allows us to further control it even when it is not a part of our body. Secondly, there is the nature manipulation - this deals with changing your chakra into the corresponding element you want, whether it be one of the five elements, combining two of them, or even a special Kekkei Genkai. You've learned nature manipulation of Lightning at this point."

Pausing briefly in his explanation, he pointed with a single hand at a tree about five meters away from Tamaki, blowing gently in the light rain. "Now, it is important in all jutsus to have an aim," Adachi explained. "This is exactly what I want you to do with this next jutsu. As you know how to call upon your Lightning affinity now, I'd like you to do so again, but in each hand. Once you believe you have generated enough chakra, proceed to slam your hands upon the ground before you as you direct that chakra towards the tree ahead of us, effectively unrooting as the Lightning travels through the earth to strike it."

A small laugh escaped Tamaki when he witnessed Adachi clapping and giving him a thumbs-up. He listened to Adachi’s detailed explanation of chakra and grew more excited when Adachi told him that he now knew nature manipulation of lightning.

Tamaki’s eyes followed Adachi’s finger in the direction that he was pointing. He shielded his eyes from the rain using one hand and looked at the tree Adachi spoke of. He looked from the tree and back to Adachi quickly, listening to his instructions. “I see,” Tamaki said quietly. He took a deep breath to try and disperse his nervousness, but upon releasing that breath, he realized that to repeat what he had done earlier, he would need that feeling of nervousness now more than ever.

He smiled at his sensei before turning to face the tree. In order to achieve the aim that Adachi told him of, he would have to start with that. Tamaki nodded at Adachi with a brief “Yes, sir!”. Tamaki began by pressed his palms together, his fingers pointed up toward the dark sky. To anyone else, it looked as though he were praying. Tamaki recalled the emotions he felt when he first utilized lightning on that rock. As he gathered his chakra and focused it into his hands, a crack of thunder bellowed over his head. He flicked his eyes to the sky, hoping to catch the flash of lightning that had preceded the thunder, but he missed it completely. That’s how fast lightning truly was.

Tamaki kept that thought in mind before returning his gaze to the tree. He molded his chakra into Raiton chakra, picturing the technique that Adachi had given him. Tamaki hadn’t realized that he pressed his hands so hard against one another that they started to ache. Yet, he could feel it: the sensation that signaled the accumulation of Raiton chakra. It reminded Tamaki of the feeling he could have after rubbing his hands together to produce heat and friction. That tingling after effect is what he focused on as he slammed his hands onto the ground in front of him.

“Raiton no Jutsu!”

He released his chakra just as his palms made contact with the earth, and a flash of bright light followed. The earth broke up rapidly as the lightning headed away from Tamaki and toward the tree. The earth continued to crack apart up until the very moment that the lightning hit the tree. The lightning tore the tree’s roots out of the ground and completely altered the ground that the tree had grown in. Tamaki slowed the flow of chakra until it came to a total stop, and the lightning disappeared. The tree was now greatly uprooted, and even the bark on its trunk was charred near the bottom. Tamaki resumed his upright position and looked to Adachi for approval.

A large crack! resonated throughout the area as the Lightning struck clean through the root of the tree, causing it to tumble over on the ground. Following his demonstration, Tamaki then turned to Adachi, awaiting his sensei's response.

"Good control over your chakra," Adachi complimented. "It hasn't been too long since your first venture into the Lightning element, yet you're handling it quite well. Now, I'll explain for a moment the significance of this jutsu and the basics it supposedly incorporates. Note that unlike your first jutsu, this jutsu has a direction, giving it more of a meaning and control. Furthermore, even though I told you to aim this jutsu towards the root of a tree, in a battle against enemies, you would instead be targeting their feet in order to throw them off balance. So, in contrary to wild, free-flowing techniques such as the first one, be sure to always state where you aim such moves and often do so with a purpose or meaning behind doing so. This jutsu, being as weak it is, is also not fatal to your opponent but serves as a mere purpose to throw him off balance to allow you an opening."

Adachi paused a brief moment to allow the words to sink in. Setting his sights upon the fallen tree, he chopped off a part of its trunk and brought it before Tamaki. "Now, for this next technique," he began. "It resembles an advanced version of the very first jutsu that we learned. Recall how I asked you to release Lightning chakra from your hands as a starting point to 'grasp' the foundation of Lightning. I'd like you to do that now with both hands, however, add the idea of 'aiming' from the technique we just learned and direct as many bolts of Lightning chakra from your palms towards the tree trunk before you."

Tamaki’s eyes widened with surprise as the tree actually fell over and hit the ground. He didn’t think that he had struck the tree hard enough, but regardless, he was extremely pleased with this result.

“Thank you, sensei,” Tamaki said to Adachi. He remained silent for the rest of Adachi’s explanation, focusing on every word to make sure that he wouldn’t miss a thing. Tamaki nodded thoughtfully as Adachi described how this jutsu had been meant to throw opponents off balance instead of actually causing any damage. Tamaki made a note of this, understanding that techniques such as this were still important to know for and use in battle. Tamaki nodded again, also recognizing that he would need to state where he aimed and remember to do so with purpose and meaning.

Tamaki was grateful that Adachi took a moment to pause from his long spiel. Tamaki watched as Adachi took a part of the tree’s trunk with such ease and placed it on the ground before him. It was almost as if Adachi was presenting the trunk to him. Tamaki listened to the specs of the next technique, specifically focusing on the combination of ideas from the two jutsus he had already learned. He knew that would be essential to performing this next technique.

“Okay. I think I can do that,” Tamaki stated. He looked to Adachi and then at the trunk of the tree not 10 feet away from him. His body was square with the trunk. “This jutsu seems to be pretty straightforward, so I’m aiming at the trunk head-on,” Tamaki explained, making his intentions known. “This might make the jutsu seem more obvious to an opponent, yet in this way, it could be used as a distraction, and I could follow up with another technique while my opponent is distracted.” He wasn’t sure if he needed to state his aim aloud each time, but better safe than sorry.

Once again, Tamaki pressed his palms together and concentrated on gathering his chakra. He would start with releasing Raiton chakra from his hands, as Adachi had instructed him to do. He channeled his chakra to his hands, focusing on increasing the vibrations of his chakra. He looked down at his hands and saw the slightest hint of blue emanating from his skin. His Raiton chakra was good and strong; he could feel it. The blue disappeared, but Tamaki could still feel the Raiton chakra flowing. He pictured this Lightning Surge technique in his mind’s eye, imagining a version that would be far different from what he would produce.

“Raiton: Raikou Oonami!”

Tamaki slammed both hands on the ground, releasing his chakra. It was now time to apply the second part of Adachi’s instructions: the idea of aiming. Tamaki used his Raiton chakra to create the surge, and he could see bolts and charges of lightning coming from his hands and shooting forward toward the tree trunk. They bounced off of the ground uncontrollably at first, yet Tamaki tightened his focus and used his chakra to tame the bolts, sending them toward the trunk. He aimed especially for the very center of the trunk, and sure enough, all of the bolts of lightning made contact. When the lightning made contact, the trunk burst apart and even caught fire. Tamaki let the bolts disappear as he watched the wood of the tree trunk crackle in flames. Tamaki looked at Adachi hesitantly.

“I… hope that’s what you were looking for, sensei,” he said sheepishly.

His pupil was definitely sharper than most, with perhaps a clear aptitude for strategy upon the battlefield. Adachi strolled over to the flaming pieces of the wood, stomping them out before the rest of the landscape could catch on fire. "There are jutsus slated for the purpose of distraction only," Adachi explained. "However, your statement does indeed bring up an excellent point to look out for during battle. Distraction works off two things mainly, and one is psychological, the other, a general sense of knowledge. We humans have five senses, and from out of the five, it is our 'sight' that grants us the most needed information during battle. Now, psychologically speaking, by forcing your opponent to focus their entire attention on a certain jutsu could grant us the very opening you speak of, whether it be an immediate follow up technique or an even stronger one that you might be masking. And as this jutsu is rather straightforward, I have nothing more to speak of it except to congratulate you on another job well done."

Having finished his explanation, Adachi put his hands together to form the Tiger seal. Moments later, a Kage Bunshin appeared right next to him, its stoic expression mimicking its master's to the point where it was hard to separate the real one from the fake. "Now, this next technique introduces a familiar concept," Adachi informed Tamaki. "Handseals. There are twelve of them. Essentially, handseals allow us to single out chakra and allows us to concentrate in order to formulate it into a single jutsu or more. However, the amount of handseals also play a very important aspect during battle. We'll discuss this in further detail very soon, but first, focus your attention upon my clone. As I'm sure you have the handseals memorized through your time in the ninja academy, I'd like you to form the handseals of Tiger → Snake → Dog and then release chakra from your hands once more. However, this time, there is not so much as a single target focus but on a wide-spread area. You will discharge the Lightning chakra much like before but at a straight line in the resemblance of a current. Don't let go of focus until you're reached at least fifteen meters from your current position. Focus your attention upon my clone and then pierce him straight through with the attack. Once you have done that, explain to me the importance of handseals and how this technique may or may not be advantageous."

(OCC: I like to say this to everyone I teach this jutsu to but whenever I speak of this technique, I keep thinking of Chancellor Palpatine from Star Wars just doing his crazy shit with the dark force from his hands. I think that's the best visual example, ahaha.)

Tamaki witnessed Adachi stroll ever-so-calmly over to what were now embers, and he put out the remaining flames with the bottom of his foot. Tamaki listened as Adachi spoke. As he had said, Tamaki liked the idea of using distractions during battle, as they always had a pretty good chance of creating an opening no matter what the situation. He agreed with Adachi, nodding as Adachi explained how the sense of sight was the best way to gather information during a fight. When Adachi congratulated him, Tamaki beamed. He finally said: “Thanks a lot.”

Tamaki didn’t look away for a moment as Adachi created a Kage Bunshin. Instead, he looked between the two Adachis with a puzzled expression. It was indeed difficult to tell which one was the real Adachi. When the one on the right started describing handseals, Tamaki thought that it was the original. Yet, when the one on the right gestured to the other, calling it his clone, Tamaki smirked a little. So he was wrong; the one on the left was the real Adachi. He listened as his sensei gave him a new set of instructions. Tamaki nodded. “Okay. I’ll try my best!”

(OOC: That’s actually a great visual example haha. xD That’s a good thing to tell people each time you teach this technique.)

When Adachi moved away from his clone, Tamaki prepared himself. He recalled Adachi’s instructions to the letter. He faced Adachi’s clone square on. Like the last technique he had performed, Tamaki thought that this jutsu was also straightforward, so it could again be used as a distraction in the midst of battle. Tamaki moved on to picturing the jutsu in his mind, the current in which his Raiton chakra should take form. He utilized some chakra traveling through his chakra system and started creating Raiton chakra. He once again focused on the buzzing sensation he felt as he accumulated enough. He formed the handseals Tiger, Snake, and Dog, just like Adachi had told him to.

“Raiton: Ikazuchi Kashou!”

Tamaki thrusted his arms forward, his palms aimed at Adachi’s clone. He released his chakra from his hands, and his Raiton chakra materialized into a burst of lightning. As the lightning shot toward the clone, Tamaki concentrated on creating the current that he had envisioned, and sure enough, the lightning came and flowed together in a straight line. However, Tamaki also remembered Adachi’s words: there isn’t a single target focus this time, but more on a wide-spread area. He became briefly distracted by his thoughts, causing the current to fluctuate. When he noticed, Tamaki tightened his control once more until the lightning indeed pierced Adachi’s clone right through the middle. After the clone disappeared on contact, the lightning branched out rapidly and dispersed. Tamaki groaned inwardly, hating the fact that he had let himself get distracted.

He turned to Adachi and considered Adachi’s request to explain handseals. “Well, handseals are generally used for ninjutsu and genjutsu to focus the user’s chakra to a certain area of his body. This can be especially important because specific techniques can be used strictly from the hands, feet, or other parts of the body. Most importantly, though, the amount of chakra necessary for a technique is manipulated through handseals, which can be vital depending on the technique.”

“As for how this technique may or may not be advantageous,” Tamaki continued. “it could possibly be very advantageous if the user focuses on using the technique in a wide-spread area. More enemies could be affected, making this technique very useful for attacking multiple enemies. However, as with the last jutsu, this technique could be rather obvious, and the enemy could see it coming because of how straightforward it is.”

Tamaki stood there, his eyebrow furrowed in frustration. I SO could have done better… he thought to himself.

Fifteen meters was quite the distance. Adachi watched with undivided attention the individual bursts of lightning traveling from Tamaki's hands to his clone. The fluctuating expressions on his student's face were rather amusing - it really did seem that Tamaki was giving everything he possibly could. Eventually, his clone was pierce straight through, causing it to poof as Tamaki released a small sigh of relief, clearly unsatisfied with the results.

Adachi wondered briefly how far Tamaki would go with that mindset of his', no doubt Adachi himself would have gotten tired rather quickly. Shoving aside the thought, he responded in kind to Tamaki's response to his previous questions. "You are correct in stating that handseals are very vital in determining the amount of chakra needed for a technique, however..." He began pacing to and fro, his hands shoved deep within the folds of his pocket. "The main point here is a handseal can also depend on the speed of the jutsu. If your opponent had a jutsu that required five handseals yet yours' was only three, wouldn't yours' be activated first? Take careful note of handseals every time you battle against someone so you can determine whether your jutsu or theirs' will hit first." Adachi stopped pacing, frowning. "I have nothing more to add to this technique as you covered mainly everything, but I did forget to pose a question to you...have you knowledge of Suiton yet?"

Tamaki listened as Adachi gave his interpretation of Tamaki’s answers. Tamaki even grew a little worried when Adachi began to pace as he did. But, Tamaki hadn’t considered how a sequence of handseals could affect the speed of a jutsu so much. When Adachi asked his question, Tamaki replied with a quiet “Yes” and a nod of his head, just so Adachi could continue speaking without interruption.

When Adachi inquired about his Suiton training, Tamaki smiled proudly. “I do, sensei. I’ve completed my suiton training, yet I haven’t mastered suiton yet.”

Tamaki stood for a moment as silence fell between himself and his teacher. Suddenly, a single drop of sweat rolled from Tamaki’s hairline, right in front of his ear. It trailed down the side of his face as he realized that Adachi was beginning C-rank techniques. Or so Tamaki thought. Adachi hadn’t exactly given him any instructions on the next technique, as he usually did. He had just… given it to him. Tamaki decided that he should probably clarify.

“I’m sorry, sensei… did you want me to proceed with that next jutsu?” he asked with a tilt of his head.

"I only needed to know about your knowledge of Suiton," Adachi responded promptly, somewhat amused at the sweatdrop that had rolled down the side of his student's face. He glanced up into the sky, noting that the rain had momentarily halted. How unfortunate. Forming a single handseal, he then slammed the ground, causing three medium-sized pillars to erupt from it. Perfectly parallel from one another, they made a trail to cover the distance between Tamaki and her sensei.

"Take note of the elemental weaknesses I taught you earlier," Adachi said. "I'd like you to choose any Suiton technique you have learned and then release it in a puddle large enough to flood at least the vicinity of the earth pillars. Then take up your two hands and charge up Raiton chakra within it. Make contact with the water source you created to send to release the chakra in other to discharge it through, effectively creating a water and electrical combo. Given such an elemental combination and the effects of Lightning on the human body, how might this jutsu stand to be both powerful and useful in a fight?"
