Tamaki laughed sheepishly when Adachi responded. “Ah, okay,” he said. He noticed that Adachi had glanced up into the sky, and when he did as well, Tamaki saw that the rain had stopped for the moment. It was still cloudy, so he hoped that the rain would continue soon. Suddenly, Tamaki’s attention snapped back to Adachi when he slammed the ground. Tamaki watched with wide eyes as three pillars protruded from the earth.

He listened closely as Adachi explained the next portion of their training, and he nodded along, signaling that he was focused. When Adachi had finished, Tamaki held his chin with one of his hands, thinking about a Suiton technique that would work well in this case. He nodded again to confirm that he had chosen on. “Alright, here we go.”

Tamaki gathered his chakra and molded it into suiton chakra. When he felt that he had accumulated enough, he clapped his hands together. He released his chakra, and from the air around him, water materialized around him rapidly. The water spiraled around him in a powerful vortex until the water became a wave that flooded the area among and around the earth pillars.

(Suiton: Suishoha) - Water Style: Water Shock Wave
Rank: C-B-Rank
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 15-20
Damage Points: 30-40
Descripton: This technique allows the user after claping their hands together to make a spiralling vortex of water to form around them out of nowhere in a vortex like manner. The vortex then proceeds to cascade into a wave of water that rampages towards the intended target or all around. The size and power of the technique is dictated by the amount of chakra put into the technique, varying from C-rank to B-Rank.

Once the water pooled between him and his sensei, Tamaki gathered his chakra once more except this time, he created raiton chakra. He concentrated this chakra into both of his hands. What Adachi had said certainly applied here: Tamaki was charging raiton chakra within his palms. Before making contact with the water as Adachi had instructed, Tamaki made sure that he didn’t stand in the water. He then slammed his hands on the water’s surface, releasing his chakra as he did. Electricity discharged through the pool of water, surrounding the pillars of earth. Tamaki stood upright again, watching the lightning dance on the water’s surface.

“To answer your question,” he began. “this jutsu would be very powerful in battle because of the combination of water and lightning. Since water conducts lightning, the water is enhanced by the electricity, and thus becomes more powerful. This jutsu would also be useful because instead of just shocking an opponent with lightning, this jutsu uses the enhanced power of water and electricity together to create an even greater shock. So the chances of an opponent being defeated by this jutsu would be higher than he or she being defeated by a Raiton jutsu alone.”

Right as Tamaki had finished his statement, the lightning died down, and the pool of water became still again.

His student carefully stepped back from the water to assure not to shock himself and then deliberately struck the water, causing a shock of lightning to rip through the puddle and effectively break apart the three earthen pillars Adachi had created earlier. Bits and pieces of dirt floated lightly in the puddle, mixing with the substance as Tamaki responded to his sensei's question.

"You are in every way correct," Adachi responded. "In fact, many people forget that combinations in canon techniques can be very helpful when it comes battling as it takes double the effort to be able to counter such techniques. The two most popular combos would be Wind and Fire, followed by Water and Lightning, which you just used. Although this technique is rather low-ranking (C-Rank), it is unique as of itself and is best utilized with any higher-ranking water technique. Sometimes, striking the opponent with the pure, blunt of water alone is not enough to actually defeat them, so an extra shock should do the trick. I've seen this being used most common with projectile water attacks but keep what you were just taught in mind for future use."

Upon finishing his words, Adachi formed a few handseals, slamming the ground next to him to cause a clone made entirely of earth to emerge and form into the exact shape of its creator. "Now, I'm sure you're aware of the elemental attributes," he told Tamaki. "This next technique is a tad more unique and works in a supplementary manner. Send Raiton chakra throughout your body and then push it out from your Tenkutsu, or chakra pores, to create an electric field around you that protects your body. Then, distance yourself from the clone I just created and then dash up to him, striking him however you wish and effectively electrocuting it." He slapped a hand on his clone and then took a step back. "As I'm sure you've heard of the Third Raikage's famous Lightning armor, this is something rather similar to it, but on a far weaker level. Given its elemental properties and the nature of Lightning, how might this defense help you out both offensively and defensively during an actual battle?"
(Raiton: Jibashi) - Lightning Release: Electromagnetic Murder
Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Short (Short-Long depending on the water technique)
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30 (+10 to a water technique when used in conjunction)
Description: This jutsu allows the user to create a wave of electricity from the user's hands. This jutsu can vary in power from a small surge to shock an opponent to a powerful stream of lightning capable of ripping through solid rock. It is ideal to use in conjunction with a water jutsu.

Tamaki hadn’t even observed the three pillars of earth falling apart until his sensei did. When Tamaki saw it for himself, he couldn’t keep a goofy grin from crossing his face. As the dirt from the pillars mingled with the water, turning it slightly brown, Tamaki listened to Adachi speak. When Adachi responded in such a positive way, Tamaki’s smile only grew wider. Yet, he maintained close attention to Adachi’s words. He had seen the power of a Wind and Fire combo from a former senpai, so he knew what Adachi was talking about. However, Tamaki wouldn’t have known that a Water and Lightning combo would be almost as powerful. He continued to listen carefully, noting that even though projectile water attacks were his favorite, he would keep that in mind.

He watched as Adachi created yet another earth clone, and the striking resemblance to his sensei once again fooled him completely. But only until the original Adachi spoke again. Tamaki nodded along and heede Adachi’s next set of instructions. Adachi moved away from his clone, giving Tamaki plenty of room to strike. When Adachi mentioned the Third Raikage, Tamaki couldn’t help but chuckle. “Oh yes, I’ve definitely heard,” he said. Tamaki considered Adachi’s question for a moment, but decided that he would return to it once he had performed the jutsu.

Tamaki collected his chakra and focused on how it traveled through his chakra system. It reached every part of his body equally. Tamaki then created a good amount of Raiton chakra. He turned his focus onto that chakra and sent it throughout his chakra system. He found it rather odd that he could feel that familiar tingling sensation all the way from his head to his toes. Tamaki closed his eyes, concentrating on his Tenkutsu. He release his Raiton chakra from his Tenkutsu, pushing the chakra out as Adachi had told him to do. Sure enough, he could feel the hairs on his head and neck stand straight with electricity. When he opened his eyes, Tamaki felt completely energized as lightning surged from him. He took a moment to lift his hands in front of him and look at them, totally amazed.

Then, Tamaki’s gaze leveled to that of Adachi’s clone. That’s right, he thought suddenly. It was time to see what this jutsu could do. Tamaki proceeded to do two back handsprings to put some distance between himself and the clone. Right as his feet landed on the ground afterward, he rushed forward, bringing one arm out in front of him. His arm was bent at the elbow. When he approached Adachi’s clone, Tamaki brought his hand down right at the crook of the clone’s neck, almost in a chopping motion. He ended up behind the clone, which was struck with electricity immediately and crumbled. Tamaki let his chakra settle, and the lightning around him ceased.

He turned to face Adachi, feeling rather exhilarated that he had completed this technique. Almost breathlessly, Tamaki answered Adachi’s question. “So! This defense could actually be used offensively because the user could get into close contact with his or her opponent and attack without worrying about being attacked themselves. The defense would protect him or her from an opponent’s attack as they carry out their own attack. Meanwhile, this defense could be use defensively because if an opponent were attacking the user without protecting themselves, then they will be shocked upon contact with the electricity surrounding the user.”

When he had finished with his explanation, Tamaki took a moment to return his breathing to normal.

Tamaki once again squeezed his eyes shut in concentration to the instructions he had been given. Moments later, a light blue aura had formed around him, electrifying his blonde hair as if he had just entered Super Saiyan mode. Without hesitation, he dashed at his sensei's clone, effectively obliterating him in a practiced motion. Struck by its weakness, it solidified into earth only to fall in pieces upon the ground.

Adachi cast a quick gaze at the pile of now useless mud before responding to his student. "It is true that this technique gives you a cutting edge to freeform Taijutsu or opponents who foolishly strike you with this technique active," he said. "But it also serves as a defense against Earth attacks that generally don't have much force to them (up to B-Rank) or if you happen to be stuck within constructs of Earth. However, note that this technique is an one time activation. Once something strikes your 'armor' or choose to use it offensively yourself, all of the chakra dispatches into that single action and vanishes as a result. As of now, I will not derive into this technique anymore as you will learn a variation of it later on."

Upon finishing his words, Adachi brought a hand to shield his eyes from the sun while he glanced around the surrounding area. The fields of the training grounds stretched as far as the eye could see only to be cut off by the borders of the Konohan forest. "Well, that is unfortunate..." he muttered to himself. Motioning for his student to follow him, Adachi and Tamaki walked a significant distance before reaching a large waterfall that was oddly smack dab in the middle of the grassy area. "Obviously man-made," Adachi commented, tilting his head up to glance up the structure of the earth supporting the water. "But this will do." He instructed his student to stay put and began running up the edge of the tall waterfall, charging chakra into his feet to do so. Once standing on top of the large earth rampart, Adachi slammed his hand onto the ground to release chakra that caused several, weirdly-shaped rocks to emerge just slightly around him. "This next technique affects terrain," he hollered down below to his student. "Now, I'm not that far up and if you measure the distance, it only reaches up to mid range. I'd like you to walk up to the base of the earth and then form the handseals of Snake into an upside down Tiger. After doing so, clap your hands together and release your Lightning chakra in a thin, pulse-like manner all the way up to where I stand. Enforce just enough chakra so that it dislodges the rocks I created in order to cause it to break loose from the structure and fall down."

Adachi lowered himself to the ground, crossing his legs. "Once done, come up here and let me know your thoughts on such a technique during an actual fight."

(I thought of Super Saiyan mode too, it was fantastic. xD)

Adachi glanced to the mud near his feet before speaking to Tamaki. Adachi made some excellent points that Tamaki hadn’t considered, so Tamaki felt really grateful that Adachi had explained them so well. Tamaki’s eyebrows rose when Adachi told him that he would soon learn a variation of the lightning armor later on. “Looking forward to it,” Tamaki said with a smile.

Tamaki watched Adachi as he surveyed the area around them. Adachi said something to himself before signaling Tamaki to follow him. Tamaki nodded dutifully and began to walk alongside his sensei. Neither of them spoke a word to each other, and it took them some time before they reached the waterfall. Tamaki looked upon it in awe. When Adachi commented on the waterfall being man-made, Tamaki chuckled a little. Tamaki leveled his gaze onto Adachi, who proceeded to make his way up the face of the waterfall. Tamaki’s eyes followed Adachi all the way to the top. He watched as Adachi summoned some rocks and called down to him. Tamaki strained to hear at first, but he managed to catch Adachi’s faint instructions. Adachi took a seat and waited for Tamaki to begin.

Tamaki took a deep breath in and out, visualizing the next technique in his mind. He gathered his chakra, focusing it into each of his hands. He kept them hanging loosely at his sides for the moment. Tamaki began molding Raiton chakra, recalling the tingling vibrations that signified the creation of this chakra. However this time, he thought about the thin, pulse-like manner in which this technique would be released, just like Adachi had told him. Tamaki walked up to the base of the waterfall, sending his Raiton chakra into his hands. When he placed one hand onto the earthen wall, it cracked slightly due to the contact from its weakness. Tamaki knew that he had enough Raiton chakra to use.

He brought his hands together and weaved the Snake and upside-down Tiger handseals. Then, he clapped his hands against each other, causing a spark of lightning to emit from them. The electricity traveled up the face of the rock wall in bursts, just as Tamaki had imagined. He controlled his chakra with pinpoint accuracy, keeping his chakra thin and pulse-like as the lightning made its way up to where Adachi sat. When the lightning crackled through the rocks surrounding Adachi, they broke away from the wall, causing them to tumble down. Tamaki looked up in just enough time to notice that the rocks were falling right over his head. He quickly moved away from the wall as the rocks crashed into the ground where he had been standing. Tamaki couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

Once the lightning had dispersed, Tamaki made his way up to where Adachi was perched. Tamaki sat cross-legged beside him, looking at the incredible view they had at that height. Tamaki looked back to Adachi while explaining: “I think this technique would be useful if the user wanted to dislodge any Doton structures that his or her opponent had created. Structures such as earth pillars, spikes, and stone lodgings would be broken apart from the pulses of Raiton chakra. So the user could prevent quite a few Doton techniques with this Raiton technique.”
