If in real life I found out that 100 of my family members plan a coup de etat for selvish corrupt reasons which would possibly cost the lifes of 2000+ people in my country and start major wars...

Do you see what happened to saasuke? if they let the children and olds live, they would have just as much hate for konoha , and eventually try a coup detat again......Children will want revenge for their parents injustice etc...
