(Doton: Yochi no Douyou) - Earth Release: World Shaking

Strong points

  • Very quick and easy to execute
  • It is difficult for the opponent to predict this by just looking at your body alone because this jutsu doesn't have physical tells.
  • Though it might be overused it is a great combinational attack allowing you to maintain your offensive front or distract your opponent when you might be caught in a tough position.
Weak points

  • You are left completely wide open when executing it
  • Simple movements of elevation or counteracting blunt force can negate the attack
  • Like most earth jutsu's that use the earth as a medium for it's release, if the opponent utilities the earth below his feet with chakra the ground cannot be manipulated by the user of this jutsu.
Combinations-strategiesUsing this jutsu as a opening and not as the actual power attack is a great option with this attack, for example using a high ranking lightning technique firs then in succession with because it requires no handseals the speed of the jutsu should meet the opponent at a similar time, the lightning will restrict the usage of water and the fact that this jutsu is earth it will not completely hinder the lightning jutsus effectiveness. This jutsu is great for wayward strategies like this. Using arching jutsu can work decently depending on the element because the arching of the jutsu will be obvious to the opponent but distract them so this jutsu can work, how the opponent chooses to counter this can be varied but the oncoming jutsu should be something they can't ignore so that this jutsu can work. Though this combination can work it is extremely dependent on your opponents actions so one must be causes and expect anything and follow up with a jutsu that will combat the jutsu you expect your opponent to use.

Ways to counter this techniqueNow since this jutsu requires no hand seals and no noticeable movements from the opponent to give you an indication towards this technique you would need to use observational skill of the earth its self to preempt the jutsu. Now releasing copious amounts of water should neutralize the attack and prevent the opponent from using it further, high velocity and volume jutsu would be a useful counteractive jutsu simply because it also simultaneously shifts the opponent from offensive to defensive, giving you an instant advantage. Now like most earth jutsu this jutsu uses the earth as a medium to induce its effect but if one takes the presence of the earth away or utililses the earth earth the opponent intends to use this jutsu becomes completely useless due to simple chakra interference hindering the manipulation of the earth below you.


(Doton: Dorosandan) – Earth Release: Mudshot

Strong points

  • It requires no handseals
  • Its can block projectiles
  • Used at close range it can be lethal to an opponent
Weak points

  • If you successfully cover the opponents face, they can get out by simply releasing a strong water technique from their mouths
  • It lacks the power to kill if it connects with an opponent
  • It is quite easy to neutralize if used at a distance.
  • It's lack of size allows the opponent to completely dominate it if they user a large amount of force
Combinations-strategies Now this jutsu can be handy when your opponent decides to become cocky and do the *I throw a kunai at you* This technique will not only neutralize the kunai but make everything return to it's sender changing the tides of the battle in an instant. The jutsu is fast action so getting in hand to hand combat then using this is a prime example of its effectiveness as a jutsu. Another strong low ranking tactic is to use a simple fire ball in conjuntion with this technique resulting a burning adhesive that if it makes contact with your opponent could be lethal. backwards creating a physical opening.

Ways to counter this techniqueNow since this jutsu is quick acting it limits the options of the counter active measures. Now using jutsu that require no handseals to execute neutralising counter can work. But to be counter productive against the jutsu the user will need to release a jutsu with a wider range an overwhelming jutsu, now this won't jutsu neutralize the mass of mud but consume and continue towards your opponent once again changing the tide of the battle against them. When countering this also use jutsu that doesn't require your full attention because this would generally be used as a diversion to pull you away from the main attack.


(Doton: Iwa Yado Kuzushi) - Earth Release: Stone Lodging Destruction

Strong points

  • It can do ample amount of damage if you keep your opponent trapped in the cave.
  • It doesn't require handseals
  • Though it isn't extremely powerful it is a jutsu that cannot be ignored, so for distraction or strategic purposes its powerful.
Weak points

  • It's rare when a user finds fights in the required terrain
  • The movement of the jutsu is audible making it easy to anticipate
  • Very limited in terms of connection elemental combinations.
Combinations-strategies Using a jutsu that heats the surface of the terrain will enhance the effectiveness of this jutsu exponentially, this will force your opponent to either look down and neutralize it or take flight, now being in a cave that limits him so the will have to hover, therefore using this jutsu afterwards will put them in an extremely difficult position. Now this tactic goes hand-in-hand with jutsu that geyser out of the earth, using those then this technique will sandwich the opponent in impending damage. This is extremely dependent on the type of jutsu/element you use to erupt out of the ground. Using a directly forceful jutsu the funnels your opponent into the cave is great especially if you have a shadow clone out. This will allow you to pressure them further into the cave while simultaneously crushing them under the rocks and deconstruction of the cave when using this technique making it almost impossible to counter both at the same time.

Ways to counter this technique When found in a situation when this jutsu is used the user should use an earth submerging technique not just because this will allow him to avoid the jutsu, but simultaneously fool all non-sensory opponents of your death. That will give you a massive opening, depending on the type of cave (Natural or man-made) summoning an animal like gamabunta should neutralize everything this jutsu stands for. Quick evasive techniques can work but it is dependent on whether you can exit the cave (Distance and your placing inside it.) I wouldn't recommend it much unless you can guarantee that you can exit quick enough.

Description: When used with Earth Release: Earth Flow River, the user will then perform the Ram ? Horse ? Dragon they can create a dragon-like head to fire concentrated mud at an opponent. This can also be combined with a fire jutsu to shoot lava toward an opponent.

This is a very basic projectile based technique. The user perform 3 hand seals and spew out a dense, concentrated ball of mud. Medium size, not so big it will cover your vision when sending it. This jutsu can be in combos with two other jutsus, its also able to travel a long range. Its one of the really basic techs but being able to hit an opponent will hurt their vision as well as push them back. Simplicity is a good thing, by the way.

With one hand seal you will create a river of mud under the opponent feet. Its throw them off balance as well as the mud carrying the opponent away. From their it becomes difficult for the opponent to stand straight on a moving mud river. You can send attacks while he is down from the mud. The river is made short range of you, and the overall mud length is 5 meters long when created. Right when it is created you can move on to an attack.



(Doton: Ganchūrō no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Rock Pillar Prison Technique

The user will do 4 hand seals a have rock pillars around the opponent rise from the ground. They are controlled to surround the opponent leaving them trapped. Now the pillars move quick fast when rising, their purpose is simply to trap nothing more. The opponent if caught would take them some time to free themselves. You will have a window of attack.

  • Its very straight forward so the user can use it for great distraction purposes

  • It's an obvious jutsu with almost no counteractive traits
  • Its a simple jutsu to neutralize in its normal state without any difficulty
Combinations-strategies Now since this jutsu is a long range one, arching it may make it lose speed but it also makes your opponent to make a direct counter so there is a smaller chance of him doing a straight forward overpowering attack. I would only suggest elemental combinations when you know they are at a disadvantage, when it comes to battle momentum. This is simply because of the time it takes to execute. Doing a lying shot with this is great for forcing your opponent to act a specific way, if you have a ensnaring combo lined up or intend on using descending overwhelming force.

Ways to counter this techniqueBecause this jutsu takes time, consumes moves and is a straight forward jutsu it is extremely easy to anticipate. The three handseals make it even easier to counter, and because it doesn't deal a lot of damage this jutsu can be neutralized with jutsu that doesn't consume time, effort or too much chakra. Its rank is great set back and its convergence of mud before forming into a jutsu also wastes precious seconds. It comes out of a localized area so its angle of attack is very easy to predict and doesn't allow much deceptive purposes. You can then straight forwardly defend it because that is the weakness of all straight forward techniques.

  • It is a quick and extremely effective jutsu
  • Very good for sneak attacks and counter-effective against jutsu that requires the opponent to focus to maintain.
  • When combined with other elements it can be highly effective.

  • It's short range
  • It does no actual physical damage
  • It has obvious tell signs of its appearance
Combinations-strategiesThis because of the speed of this jutsu's manifestation, using it in conjunction with jutsu that require a low amount of handseals to increase its effectiveness. Now doing this in conjunction with other elements is risky simply because the opponent won't just take the jutsu. So following up with a jutsu that ensnares is a great option especially since the user can now become constricted and because you chakra is all over the ground below him he cannot use the earth as a means of escape. Following that with a rapid projectile or descending jutsu would allow this to be more effective.

Ways to counter this techniqueSeemingly lethal but not as volatile in effect, one the most obvious ways would be to go into mid-air. This jutsu gives a distinct sound when it formed allowing you to anticipate it. Its quite simple to neutralize utilizing large volumes of water to overwhelm it. Using fire will cast it, solidify the jutsu neutralizing it indefinitely. Now this jutsu will always have the same kind of physical effects on the earth that most ground medium jutsu, using sound, sight and texture to anticipate it every-time will work unless there is preexisting collisions on the field limiting your hearing severely. It is a temperamental tactic but should be effective most of the time. Using lightning will hinder its flow but because of the nature of lightning one must always be prepared for natural effect. Hit it with concentrated bolts or something of that fashion simply because it will rip through the point of contact it will make with you. Creating a riff between you and the mudslide, other wide spread attacks again will result in shards and recoil dust depending on what's used.

  • It's a distractive jutsu
  • Once formed it requires quite a bit of effort to escape.
  • Once the handseals are formed this jutsu gets to work extremely quickly.
Weak points

  • It requires four handseals making it a dead give away
  • It raises from the floor allowing it to be deduced quite easily
Combinations-strategiesBecause of the time it takes this jutsu to actually take effect, distracting your opponent with a low handseal but attack that actually takes time to hit the opponent would work, depending on the situation. Now utilizing this aspect will distract your opponent and allow you to form the handseals while he is dealing with your jutsu. I would suggest a wide range descending jutsu, so he can't ignore it, also making him look up so he can't see the forming/manipulation of the earth.

Ways to counter this technique Straight up from the get go, destroying his ability to manipulate the earth underneath you would be key to stopping this. Unfortunately because of the time it takes to form the handseals, can easily allow you to assault the user performing this technique. Because this jutsu can't be performed at long range it will always give you ample time to counter unless the user has earth as their specialty. The converging of earth and darkening of it for this jutsu to take place allows you to anticipate it, therefore giving you the chance to naturalize it or get out of the way before it ensnares you.

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user creates a large wall of earth in front of him/her. The defence is not perfect though, since a hard or drilling impact can puncture the wall. Also, since this technique only guards frontal attacks, the enemy can easily attack from the side or even from above.

An extremely basic defensive technique. The user will place their hands on the ground rising a large wall upfront of them to block frontal attacks. Note the user can not see through the wall. Its sturdy enough to stop most projectile based techniques. Now as said you can not see through the wall so you can be surprised by attacks from the sides, above or even underground so anticipate an attack from those areas.

Combinations-strategiesThis jutsu work well as a distraction jutsu more than a defensive jutsu, your circumstances and opponent determine the level of effectiveness in this case. Now this is simply said for the sheer fact of its flaws, which allows your opponent to capitalize so when rushed raising the was and attaching a large amount of explosive tags will work on a non sensory type. So as they encroach the tags and wall will explode. Now using this with a shadow clone present is recommended. It allows you to anticipate and retaliate on your opponents assault against the wall. Evasive or counteractive measures should be prepared already because this technique barely turns the tide in a battle but simply neutralizes a situation.

Ways to counter this techniqueInitially since the defense isn't perfect which allows the user to smash through it with the correct force. Since this jutsu is directly formed in front of you it is easy to see the user manipulating the ground. Now since this technique doesn't actually have force behind it, and they are stuck until the wall forms you can simply straight forwardly whitewash the wall. The tech will cover your opponents vision before your own since he would be on the ground and you standing up. This is the perfect opening for overpowering him, fact that he can't see you attacking limits his counteraction time drastically. With that method you can use various ways of dealing with the opponent.

Description: After performing the required hand seals Boar ? Ox ? placing hand on the ground, the user causes the ground surrounding the enemy to spiral inwards on itself, burying them alive or crushing them. This technique is capable of causing quite a bit of damage to the area. This technique is much more damaging if used in rocky mountainous areas, or inside a cave.

Okay after doing two hand seal and placing their hands on the ground the user will have the ground spiral in on itself, attempting to capture and crush the opponent. It can easily bury the opponent alive and the movement of the jutsu us actually quite fast. Its a great ground attack and great to use against a faster opponent on ground and since it spreads a long range its tough to evade. The user must keep their hands on the ground the duration the ground caves in. Its good to use with a partner or a clone.

Combinations-strategiesWhen it comes to this jutsu a secondary or post form of entrapment should be applied simply because when it come to this jutsu it would be the first natural reaction. Entrapping him then using this or vice-versa will increase the effectiveness of this jutsu considerably. besides the obvious use of stopping/negating a fast moving user this can be quite useful for distraction purposes as well. Using heavy aerial assaulting jutsu while using this can greatly reduce the amount of space you user has to escape. This is also a great technique that can be used to interupt your opponents technique and create a rift in their offensive rhythm.

Ways to counter this technique Because this jutsu is very evident and optical, I would suggest generally overlaying it or neutralising it's effect. Now since it is an earth manipulated jutsu, being aerial, manipulating the earth and contact neutralization will stop this jutsu (Preferably elemental ninjutsu.) Hitting this jutsu with another will stop it's effect but will not turn the tide of the battle. Hence layering a large volume of water will not only allow you to retain your balance but create a water source and prevent that technique from being used again.

Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

The opponent will create a river up front of them and send it towards the opponent, the river is made of mud and runs slow alone, so its best to add some water to speed it up and have a more impact power. If an opponent is caught they will have restricted movement due to the heaviness of the mud as well as be pushed back. The rver goes up to mid long range. After making the mud you cna go onto another tech making it combo friendly. I would personally heat up the mud and give it a higher attack potency. Its also quick to perform but the river is straightforward and easy to evade.

Combinations-strategies: Combining this with water will speed up its torrent effect, but combining it with fire will create a magma effect which in short could be almost lethal. The infusion of water will reduce the earths weakness to lightning but, magma will make it better offensively depending on how you opponent deals with it. Using this to distract your opponent is a method one can use if you are fighting with a built up strategy.To a degree you can also use it to conceal yourself, summon or object.

Ways to counter this techniqueFirst off going upwards would be a definite must if the sure can, because it will give them optical in field advantage and preferably allow them to avoid the up coming attack. The other is descending this will allow you to completely avoid the jutsu unscathed not both mentioned tactics work but are more effective if the opponent has decided to utilize the possibility of elementally infusing it. Though the jutsu has no real height to it, negating it would be very useful to prevent the opponent from making more use of the mud conjured.

Description: Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent by merging with the ground itself. By utilizing earth-chakra, the person can stealthily emerge from the ground without disrupting the ground around him. The disadvantage with this technique is that merging with the ground is rather slow and while perfomring the technique, the user is vulnerable to high ranked Earth techniques. The user isn't hidden from doujutsu or sensory ninjas and cannot travel beyond the 3 meter deep mark. Moving around in the ground is slow and the user cannot sense very well what is happening above.

This is mainly an evasion jutsu or set up jutsu. The user will slowly drop into the ground for either evading jutsus or escaping tough situations. Its very quick and simple to use. The other main way to use it, is that you can snick attack an opponent, a tough thing is you will be unable to sense anything down their so you must remember the opponents position. Also if an opponent figures out your underground your severely handicapped because you will be unable to perform any jutsu while underground. While rising from the ground though no opponent will be able to notice a disruption since its very silent. Its a great assassination type jutsu.

  • It can be used at any range

  • It's extremely slow
  • It gives you restricted movement when submerged
  • Ascending is just as slow as descending
Combinations-strategies:Once submerged doton catalytic jutsu would be best and using this jutsu to sneak up on a user can make this jutsu useful. In order to aid the obvious lack in speed when it comes to this jutsu, clones,physical and illusionary diversions or cover would be needed to ensure the safe execution of this. Covering/protecting the original while the original submerges would work though it would require work and set -up. Because of the lack of speed and restricted movement underneath the earth, I would only recommend this if there was no other choice, literally no other.

Ways to counter this technique Because it is so slow, you will be able to see the opponent submerge. Though the user leaves no physical trace of his presence on coming attacks will be seen easily and normally. It will hardly be used in close range because of the time it takes so underground pulling won't happen. This will allow you to hence forth predict oncoming attacks and specificaly earth ones in a normal fashion, giving the opponent no extra edge. Instead it will hinder them, ascending is obviously a well known and obvious choice but hardly needed when it comes to this. Now because they are so consealed underground their movement is extremely limited allowing you the possiblity to finish them in a single combination if you have enough battle information to do so.

Description: The user will first perform the required hand seals Rabbit ? Boar ? Rat ? Horse ? Tiger ? Snake and then by flowing concentrated chakra from one's palms into the Dragon Veins flowing underground, one can tear the earth apart, creating large chasms by firstly raising the earth in the desired location and then splitting that peice of earth through the center. The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are all up to the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.
Note: This does not split the earth appart directly to cause opponents to fall in the fissure.

After doing the required hand seals and placing their hands on the ground they concentrate chakra into the dragon veins of the ground and split the ground apart. The user has full control how and where they want the earth to be torn, this is very efficient jutsu to change the terrain in your favor. For example splitting the ground between you and the opponent this can stop a fast opponent from getting in close as well as push them back. A problem with the jutsu is it takes some time to perform as well as execute, this can easily leave you open for attacks. If their is a dramatic terrain change you can use this to manipulate it in your favor. As shown in the anime the trees were filled with Amaterasu flames, Yamato split the earth apart where they flames where so they can bypass them unharmed.

Description: After performing snake hand seal the user slams their hand on the ground. The result is that the ground becomes heavily turned up with chunks of rubble popping out of the ground. This technique is used as a means to distract opponents to either create an escape or follow through with a surprise attack although it can also do some damage or be udes to destroy enemy earth techniques of equal rank and bellow.

A basic deception attack, after doing the hand seal and slamming their hand on the ground. The ground ahead of the user and up to mid-range begins to shake slightly, which will not hurt the balance but its what happens. Chunks of rocks will pop out very quickly. This is meant to shock or decieve the opponent in thinking its an attack where it really does not, so the opponent will react and go on the defensive or change their stance. You can quickly attack right after you slam your hand on the ground making it a nice jutsu for combo. You can also flee the area if needed in the NW.

Combinations-strategies:This jutsu is completely dependent on area because using it in an open plain will make you extremely vulnerable. Because this jutsu can deal decent structural damage it is handy in villages or forest areas, where you can force the ground to make the trees descend on your opponent. You can multiply fissure the earth to a point where your opponent could gain a great sense of overwhelming force. If he is stuck in certain genjutsu this could almost amplify the effect.

Ways to counter this techniqueDue to the ample time the jutsu requires to be performed, it is very easy to stop or inturupt not simply because its effect takes time but because it requires multiple handseals as well. Rushing your opponent would be ideal when dealing with this situation. Almost any jutsu that requires the user to lose his focus or force him to stop channeling the technique will work. Channeling chakra and using a ground catalytic jutsu can work well if used on an area the opponent isn't using. Due to the fact he is on the floor his reaction time will drop and your jutsu will have almost full effect leaving him a small time window to defend.

Combinations-strategies:This jutsu is great if you want to divert your opponents vision/attention, the uprooting of earth forces him to take notice of it this allows you to do as you please. Now though this can be underestimated, using it with aerial and side attacks is a solid tactic. When using this jutsu a user can shift the tide of the battle back into their favor. The lack of offensive power can be made up with your following technique, using this while entrapping the opponent is a good way to keep them under your control.

Ways to counter this techniqueSimple strong surges of electricity or ascending can work. Due to the speed of the jutsu it makes it formidable, so quick measures must be taken and not underestimated. One could recommend water but then the water must be quickly released and pressurized in order to counteract this jutsu effectively. Shieilding techniques would take time to set up and you could also lose time here. Matching it with counteractive wind would work nicely and the same goes for fire.

Okay the user will send doton chakra through his arm encasing it with pure rock. With it the opponent is able to block techniques as well as deliver hard punches. Great for short range battle and simple to use, its purpose is simple as well. It has two hand seals. Your speed on the arm though is slowed down due to the extra weight.

Combinations-strategies:Because of the nature of this jutsu I would recommend using it in a combination where you catch your opponent off-guard with this. Because of the extremely slow nature of the jutsu, the element of surprise will be best. Distraction and correct area of damage is vital. If you create a combination that makes your opponent look up and then you hit him in the chest with this, it will still not be effective simply because of your choice of striking. Now if you performed a jutsu the made him look upwards and behind him, then concealed and attacked from a low south westerly angle to his hip breaking it. That would have a higher probability of working essentially, the manner in which one chooses to excecute the jutsu is more important than forming it in this case.

Ways to counter this techniqueDue to it's short range impacting your opponent before he can impact you is best. The jutsu requires handseals and slight preparation, which in-tow will give you the necessary time to execute tai or kenjutsu techniques. Due to the fact tai and kenjutsu are quicker than ninjutsu, (Vary dependent on situation/distance.) Avoiding this jutsu is quite simple and because it requires handseals a simple rasengan will not only counter it but overpower it as well. The impact of the collision should technically make it very difficult for your opponent to move that arm freely. If you have a bio that can use chidori without handseals it would also be a good an viable counter.

Description: The user after performing the required hand seals Ram ? Dog ? Rat ? Bird is able to create a wide tunnel in the ground, this cannot travel through rock though or anything with a high density. The large tunnel that is created allows the user to transport others without detection.
Note: The initial entry of the technique is short range.

The user will perform 4 hand seals and create a hole on the ground which is a tunnel that can run long range. It can't though travel through high density rocks or material. So using it in mountain type terrains would be impossible. Using it on soil or a field is best. Now you can move through this tunnel but its not like hiding like a mole. You will not sense anything going on from above through a magnetic wave. You can though send the tunnel towards any area on the field. Its good to send clones or small summons through to set up a combo attack.

Combinations-strategies:Since this jutsu does restrict a normal users sight and movement, when the onslaught of jutsu comes make sure that you have the ability to submerge. Now using this in secret will be tough on the battle field but the entrace of the tunnel can serve as a decoy if RP'ing correctly, especially in NW. This is an escapist jutsu and should only be used when needed. Now because this simply lacks density, it means the wall of the tunnel is such as well. Meaning vibrations, sound and extreme amounts of heat can be felt and heard through it. This is the only amount of insight one has to incoming attacks if your bio has no sensory abilities.

Ways to counter this techniqueTechniques that forms of earth or rock like structures can negate the effect of this jutsu. Since it requires an ample amount of handseals you have time to prevent this from reaching it's peak. Since the opponent can't sense anything in the tunnel, making it concave or actually using thier hindered movement and sight to entrap them. Once in the tunnel make sure whether you opponent is a sensory, simply because they will be able to avoid/prevent your jutsu with ease.

Description: After forming the necessary seal Snake, the user creates two walls of earth and traps their target in between them.

The user will summon two normal sized earth walls in each flank of the opponent which come together not to crush but trap them restricting their movement, then you can send a finishing attack. Rather basic, the walls move at a fast pace, and the user needs to do one hand seal. The opponent can still however counter it even if they are caught it restricts only movement nothing more. Very simple but nice to use in combos.



(Doton: Hokoriheki no Jutsu ) - Earth Release: Dust Wall Technique

Description: The user will manipulate their chakra releasing it into the ground and with a wave of their arm or through the application of a weapon can cause a small wall of dust particles and sand to rise up from the ground and thrusting forwards. This technique creates a simple dust screen that will fade away after 3 turns.


A basic defense jutsu, the user will manipulate the debris on the ground to rise by a wave of the hand to create a dust wall. It is simple enough to protect the user from projectile techniques. If an opponent comes to close you can use it to force him back because if they get to close to the wall it has a type of property able to push someone back some meters. Lastly since its made of dust you can see through it. After summoning the dust screen it will remain for 3 turns before it fades away, it can block the vision from you and you're opponenet. This will be advantage because you can use a snick attack right after you summon the dust. Its a little larger then the opponent.
