Kurikita

The region of Kurikita has become known as the primary residential region of Solanaceae. It is here that a large portion of the citizens of Solanaceae reside, strategically placed neighboring the region of Yabuchi, that serves as the forefront of the defensive efforts made for Solanaceae and its people. While the population is dense, it is a relatively peaceful region with little to no conflict to speak of, thanks to the constant looming presence of Aureliana, who is known to make frequent visits amongst her people to their very homes.

This post marks the beginning of our mission using these storyboard elements:
Lend a helping hand in one of your landmarks (1)
Finish a chore using Ninjutsu (1)

Summary: Ryuu and Astra have just arrived on this new land when they spot a commotion with the corsairs. being nice people, they decide to help out...

A new land; new possibilities; a new future. So many thoughts whirled around Ryuu's mind as he and Astra landed upon Kurikita. Looking around, the boy noticed that there were many people on this land, and that it was right next to an ocean. Activating his Byakugan, he also noticed that there was a fair bit of land beyond where they stood, but he could not see as far to determine how much land there was exactly.

Breathing in the fresh air of the ocean and stretching at the same time, Ryuu was about to deactivate his clan's Doujutsu, when all of a sudden, he noticed something somewhere behind him. Somewhere on the ocean water, about 100 metres from where he currently stood, Ryuu noticed some commotion between a ship and some strangely dressed people. Not knowing what was occurring, the boy did know that the people on the ship looked unhappy though. Nudging one of Astra, the mute boy then pointed towards the commotion, showing his fellow clan what was happening there. He awaited their response to see if they should take action or not. If the group wanted to reach the scene, they would have to run on water for a few metres as it was kind of close to the land.

(Dōjutsu: Byakugan) Eye Technique: The All Seeing White Eye
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 15 (+5 per turn to keep active)
Damage: N/A
Description: The kekkei genkai intrinsic to both the Hyūga and Ōtsutsuki clans—descendants of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. Those who possess this dōjutsu have it manifested as eyes with featureless white irides and no visible pupils. And when activated, the pupils become more distinct and the veins near their temples bulge. To activate the dōjutsu, Hyuga but not Ōtsutsuki clan members are initially obliged to use a rather long and specific sequence of handseals: Horse → Tiger → Boar → Hare → Rat → Dog → Horse → Dog → Hare → Rat → Boar → Snake. But once activated, the dōjutsu user is endowed with a range of skills.

To start, an activated Byakugan gives the user a near 360º diameter field of vision bar one blind spot at the back of the neck, above the first thoracic vertebra. Its vision can penetrate through any solid objects or obstructions, and likewise remains unaffected by blinding interferences. But that being said, certain barriers and the like may distort its perception. In addition, it is able to follow high-speed movements, which enables those with this dōjutsu to analyze their foes' actions and better react to them. The Byakugan is also able to see chakra to a higher degree than the Sharingan and ergo, identify where a person's chakra signature originates from. Beyond that, it can discern certain types of clones from the real person. And its ability to see chakra is in fact so acute that those who possess this dōjutsu are even able to see the chakra pathway system and the 361 tenketsu that comprise it. The Hyūga clan has gone so far as to develop their unique Gentle Fist style in order to capitalize on this particular ability.

Note: Hyuga clan bios of at least Sannin rank become able to passively activate their dōjutsu upon one month having passed since Gentle Fist training concluded. Ōtsutsuki bios never need to expend a move in order to activate it.
Note: While traversing the NW, bios with activated Byakugan are able to see up to two 2 adjacent landmarks away while those of sage rank can see as far as three away, but this doesn't extend beyond an ocean landmark.

Astra had a spring in their step once their journey returned them to the shores of a new land. You'd be surprised how little there is to do at sea. After watching the same people and scenery for so long, they had to resist the urge to disconnect and abandon Ryuu until they arrived. Star-2 was nearly finished carving a wooden mermaid, in the midst of deciding where the nipples would go, when he felt a nudge and saw Ryuu pointing behind them. Suddenly alert, Astra spun around and studied what looked like two ships in the distance. The ships were abnormally close and one of them was clearly in worse shape than the other. Star-2 pocketed the carving and placed a hand on Ryuu's shoulder.

"Whew, we really dodged a bullet there didn't we?" His look of relief sunk as he watched one of the ships start to tilt. He shook his head and his mind was made up. "As much as i'd like to stay clear of ships right now, i'd be missing out if i didn't get involved. Its a chance to get some recognition coming our way. Come on, let's hurry."

With that, the Six charged at the ships, looking more like they were running a race than heading to the scene of a disaster. When they reached shore they saw the other ship had already sailed away. Cursing under their breath, Astra avoided crossing over the water on foot by having Star-2 anchor himself to the ground and extend his arms and legs to latch onto the damaged ship and act as a bridge of sorts. He slowly and carefully dragged the slowly sinking ship toward shore, trying not to damage it further. The other Stars ran across the metal cords tethered to the ship and saw quite a mess. The ship's sails were in tatters and people were strewn about the deck. They didn't stand a chance fighting back against whoever they were up against. Astra assured everyone that they were there to help and began carrying anyone who could be safely moved off the ship.

Just as he expected, upon realising that people were in trouble, his fellow clan mates quickly rushed off to the scene, eager to help. Ryuu followed closely behind, and upon reaching the water, he channeled chakra onto the bottom of his feet, allowing him to run atop the water. As he did so, he thought he could faintly hear gasping sounds on the land somewhere behind him. It sounded like the villagers were amazed to see a human running on water. Ryuu only now seemed to notice through his Byakugan that the people on the land behind him had stopped whatever they were doing and were watching the commotion.

Whilst running, Kaizen noticed one of the ships sailing off before they could reach it. Thus, the group then focused on dragging the ruined ship back to shore. It was quite difficult, but luckily the waves made it easier, along with the fact the ship was not too big. Upon reaching the shore, Ryuu and Astra jumped aboard onto the ship. However, as soon as they did, they were met with insults, along with things being thrown at them.

"Get away from here!
You won't come aboard a second time!
Off with your head!"

As they said these things, several people from the ship, who were dressed poorly, came forward to restrain the clan. Of course, they could escape easily if they wanted to, but Kaizen knew better than to injure and further scare these innocents. Instead, Ryuu raised his hands in the air, making the peace sign. Using sign language, he then pointed to his throat before shaking his head, indicating to the people that he could not speak. He looked towards his clan mates though, hoping they would say something. Surely enough, they introduced themselves to the people of the ship, explaining how they were here to help. Ryuu could tell they were still a bit suspicious though.

While observing the people, Ryuu noticed, from the side of vision, a young girl sitting on the deck, crying and clutching her leg as if in pain. People surrounded her, appearing to comfort her. Using his Byakugan, the Hyūga zoomed in onto the girl's leg, and immediately saw that there was something wrong. A large, sharp piece of wood, probably from the ship, was lodged into her leg. Immediately, the boy tugged on the sleeve of the closest Astra to him, pointing to the girl. Using sign language, he then communicated:

'I will go and heal her'.

Quickly rushing over to the girl, Ryuu was met with resistance as the people around her did not want him next to the girl.

"What are you doing!?"

To this, the boy pointed towards the girl's leg. Another person then scoffed and spoke.

"What can a mere boy like you do? We have this covered ourselves!"

At this, Ryuu shrugged his shoulders and made as if to turn away. As soon as he did though, the girl shrieked loudly in pain, and the people around her, not knowing what to do, started to panic. Ryuu took this opportunity to come forward again, and this time they let him approach the girl. Kneeling beside her, Ryuu gently lay her down, before charging a special kind of chakra into his right hand. The result was the formation of chakra around his hand, in the form of a snake. Immediately, the snake bit the surprised girl's arm, injecting chakra into her. At this, the people around started to protest, thinking that Ryuu was harming the girl, but the Medical ninja waved them back with his left hand, indicating to them not to interfere, and that he knew what he was doing. They decided to trust him. Slowly, the girl ended up falling asleep.

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Masui Sejutsu) - Medical Technique: Secret Anesthesia Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user will charge a special chakra into one of his hands manifesting it as an ethereal pure chakra familiar, resembling a snake. It will then bite the patient, injecting chakra into him. This chakra is designed to render a patient unconscious. The effect takes some time to establish and the patient needs to be still for it to be successful but is very useful to perform surgery, suturing wounds, setting bones straight, etc as it effectively sedates the patient and acts as a general anesthesia. While it can be used in battle, its almost impossible to do so because of the time it takes for the sedation to work and the need for the connection to remain intact until it does work.
Note: Lasts 2 turns
Once the girl was unconscious, Ryuu immediately set to work. Biting his thumb, the boy drew a kanji under each of the 5 items he wished to summon. Immediately, a sterilised scalpel, a bottle of ethanol, a bottle of sterilised water, a bandage, and a mobile bed appeared besides him. Grabbing the sterilised scalpel, Ryuu first carefully cut around the piece of wood that was deeply embedded into the leg. Tugging on it gently at the same time, he eventually managed to pull it out. Upon witnessing this, the people around made an audible 'Ooh' sound, as if they were impressed. They looked on, curiosity written all over their faces. Once the large piece was out, Ryuu placed it on the floor besides him, before using the scalpel to take out the small pieces from the leg. This took a fair bit of time as there were many small pieces lodged into the leg. Luckily for Ryuu, his eyes allowed him to pick up every single detail. Upon completion, Ryuu wiped the sweat off his brow with the back of his arm, before grabbing the bottle of sterilised water. Pouring it over the unconscious girl's leg, Ryuu carefully washed the blood off. Once the blood was gone, he then grabbed the ethanol, also washing it over the wound. This was to ensure that the wound would not get infected, otherwise there could be problems later on.

(Kuchiyose No Jutsu: Eisei Yougu) - Summoning Technique: Medical tools
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: N/A
Chakra cost: 20
Damage: N/A
Description: The medical shinobi bites his thumb and draws his Medical Kanji on the Medical scroll underneath the symbol of the tool he desires to summon.
Note: This can only be used by Medical Shinobi.:
* メス - scalpel, sterilized
* ナイフ - knife
* アルコール - a bottle of 96% ethanol for disinfection
* 水 - a bottle of sterilized water
* スポイト - syringe, sterile, for one time use only
* アドレナリン - adrenaline, to be injected intravasulary, induces faster heartbeat
* 包帯 - bandage, sterile, 8 meters in length
* 血液 - a set of everything you need to draw someones blood (Sterile syringe, vacuum system and a test tube.)
* 温度計 - mercury thermometer, for axillary or rectal use
* ベッド - a mobile bed to carry patients
* バグ - bug spray, effective against all bugs, lasts for 2 turns (used in cases when your patient is having a reaction to multiple bug stings, and there are still some bugs around it, so you spray-kill them. Kills bugs up to A rank if they've been created/summoned from a jutsu like the Aburame techniques)
* テント - a small tent, just enough for two people to lie in
* 光 - a flashlight
* ガスマスク - gas mask with a bottle of oxygen that lasts 5 turns (Not 100% effective against all types of poison/gas. The purpose is to protect the user from breathing in toxic substances, keeping the lungs safe. However, if the poison gets absorbed through the pores of the skin it will still affect you).
* 流体 - a set to start an intravenous fluid addition line, helpful with dehydration amongst many other conditions
* モルタル - mortar and pestle, chemically clean
* スプーン - spoon, sterile
* パテ - putty knife, metal, sterile
* 研究所 - a small hut. Into the walls of that house, parts of Nexus' eyes DNA have been inserted, so now it mixes Time And Relative Dimensions In Space, creating an effect of being larger on the inside then it is on the outside. Inside is an advanced laboratory with everything needed to create antidotes and medicines.
Now came the healing part. Focusing mainly Yang chakra onto his hands, an aura of greenish chakra appeared. Carefully, the Medical ninja placed his hands above the wound, healing it. Slowly but surely, the large wound on the leg began to close up. Once again, Ryuu heard a sound of awe from his audience. He also heard someone say:

"Wow, he's a doctor! We should get him to stay here!"

Now done, the boy pretended not to hear this as the sudden attention embarrassed him, and instead motioned for someone to carry the girl and place her on the bed. As they did so, the mute boy took out his notebook and started writing in it:

'She must be rested for three days. No walking during that time, as the leg will be very sore, and the wound might open up if she walks. She may walk after that, but no running for an additional week. She should be fine after that.'

Ripping out the page, the boy held it out in front of a lady who was now sobbing besides the girl, presumably the mother. At the same time, she was looking up at Ryuu, with gratitude visible all over her face. She grabbed the note from Ryuu and read it, nodding her head.

"Thank you, oh thank you so much! You saved my girl!"

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Shōsen Jutsu) - Medical Technique: Mystic Palm Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: D - S
Range: Short
Chakra: N/A (2X the amount of damage healed)
Damage: N/A
Description: This medical ninjutsu allows the user to speed up the body's natural healing process by focusing mainly Yang chakra onto their hands, forming an aura of greenish healing chakra which he then sends into a wound or afflicted body part. This allows the user to heal a patient without the need for medical equipment or surgery, making it very useful on the battlefield. It can be used to treat both external and internal injuries. It is vital to match the amount of chakra used to the severity of the affliction or injury. This requires a great amount of chakra control. Because of this, only a few highly skilled medical-nin are able to use this technique. The limitation of the technique is that it cannot regrow missing body parts or deal with poisons or toxins, though it can heal its damage. Additionally, perhaps its more severe drawback is the chakra cost, which, as the technique stands as a jack of all trades in terms of medical ninjutsu, is much higher than any other medical technique. For each damage point the user of the technique wishes to heal he needs to spend twice as much chakra. Basically, for X amount of damage the user needs to spend 2X amount of chakra to repair/heal. The user can also use this technique on himself and it can be used with one hand or two and even in two targets at a time or while using another technique with the other hand. The speed of the healing is fast but not instant, specially in internal injuries.
With that, Ryuu turned over to Astra, who now appeared to be talking to some people from the ship. He decided to go over and join them.

“Who cares how valuable they were!? I told y’all before we left, i ain’t responsible for any possessions gettin’ lost on the way. Now move! Yer blockin’ the gangway!”

“You can’t be serious. Do you know how long it took to - hey, what are you..?.Ack! Aahhh!”

Astra’s introductions were drowned out by the shouts of a tall, broad-shouldered woman arguing with three shady-looking people. They watched her push all three down the ramp and off the ship despite their protests. Judging by the way she constantly directed traffic throughout the ship, she had to be the captain. Before long, one of the Stars found themselves face to face with her.

“You lot called yourselves Kaizen. Is that right?”

“Yes. I’m Astra and that’s Ryuu. We didn’t mean to frighten anyone. Time was of th- ”

“Yea, i got that. Would’a been a pain in the ass to drag my ship out of there, let alone get everyone to shore. I appreciate the help. Don’t expect a damn ryo from me though. Fuckin’ corsairs took just about everything i got ‘cept the ship.”

“I wouldn’t dream of it. You’ve had enough stolen from you as it is. How about we help patch this thing up?”

“Thing?! It’s Javelin yer talkin’ about! What do any of y’all know about repairin’ ships anyway?”

“We’re fast learners. Javelin’s a passenger ship isn’t it? The longer it takes to repair your vessel, the longer it will be before your next journey, and the longer it will be until your next payday. You’re merely scraping by, that much is obvious. Else, you wouldn’t be sailing dangerous waters with guys like them.”

“...it’s a deal. Look for people wearing white bandanas. Tell ‘em Marlow sent you.”

Departing with a smile and a nod, Astra split off into two groups: Stars 2-5 stayed above deck with Ryuu and the rest delved below. The first group found who they were looking for rather quickly. The two crewmen’s bandannas weren’t white but gray, likey from years of use. They had a large cloth laid out and was using a long needle and rolls of twine to stitch closed a large tear in the sail. Astra greeted them and told gave them Marlow’s message. Looking relieved, the men instructed Astra on how to remove the jib and patch it up. Getting it down was easy enough for Star-2 as he lengthen his mechanical arms to guide, roll up, and detach the jib without having to move from where he was standing, a feat they summed up to their shocked audience as “one of the many wonders of technology”.

The crew was further astounded by by the speed of Astra’s stitching once they got the a rhythm going, akin to a living assembly line. They even let them finish closing the tears in the larger sails while they recounted tales of their encounters with the raiders who based themselves along the river running through Kurikita and preyed upon lone ships near its waters. Marlow usually estimated where and when the raiders would be so as to avoid them, regarding the earlier incident as a fluke. It was all very intriguing to Astra so they coaxed the crew into telling them everything they could, a task make easier with the help of a little alcohol. Once the repairs were finished and the sails reattached, the crew asked about an asterisk that was sewn into the corner of the sail, a question Astra ignored as they admired their handiwork.

Below deck, the remaining two Stars found a few crew members scrambling in and out with pails of water, attempting in vain to both patch up leaks in the ship and drain what was essentially a waist-high pool of seawater in a dark space where only narrow rays of light shone through small holes in the hull and deck. The two Stars looked at the water with disdain. As much as they wanted to be of use, the place was just too dank. Then, in a brilliant flash of insight, they knew what to do. Forming handseals, Star-1 molded suiton chakra, gathered all of the water together in one place, and send it rushing out of there, twisting and turning to avoid walls and people before it arked majestically through the air and into the sea where it belonged. Some of the crew stood frozen, having been nearly been caught in the stream themselves including Marlow who looked more furious than stunned. Then there was a short applause from the onlookers at the shore. It seemed that once the water was removed the ship tilted back into place and a small rainbow was left in the air above.

(Suiton: Suishi no Jutsu) – Water Drowning Technique
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Rank: C
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 15
Damage: 30
Description: After waving the Boar → Dog → Horse → Tiger handseals, the user will gather a large amount of water to form a large spiraling stream of water. It can be guided to strike a target in a number of angles.

Note: Requires a nearby water source.
The remaining crewmen were able to patch all of the holes fairly easily afterwards. Considering it a job well done, Astra rejoined Ryuu on the shore where Marlow and some of the locals were discussing something of apparent importance. From the group an elderly man distinguished from the others by a polite and formal demeanor comes forward and addresses them.

“I have been informed that you kind souls have been searching for place to grow your clan, to expand your range of influence.”

“I didn’t say it like that, but yes, go on.”

“Ahem. Our community could very much use the support of such skilled ninjutsu users, especially due to the presence of bandits in the river region.”

“Pirates is more accurate. Can we all agree to call them pirates?”

“...I have spoken at length with the others and while we have no unoccupied residence to offer, we can assist in the construction of a residence suitable for your clan. That is, if you will accept our offer.”

Holding up a finger to signal a break in the discussion, Astra pulled Ryuu aside and began talking with him in sign language.

{I can't believe it Ryuu. This is working out better than expected. It almost seems too good to be true. What do you think? I haven’t seen enough of Kurikita to be sure but i think it has potential. Pirates aren’t a deal breaker, i’ve dealt with similar folk before.}

This post marks the beginning of our mission using these storyboard elements:
Build something for the Clan (1)
Gather resources from the land (1)

Summary: After helping some ship people from a pirate attack, Ryuu and Astra are welcomed in by the villagers and are offered residency in the landmark. However, they have to create a house for themselves.

Carefully observing the conversation between his clan and the villagers, Ryuu silently giggled inside his mind at the start contrast from before. Previously a bit unwelcoming, these people were now asking them to stay in the area. It was clear that they needed labour to defend against the pirates, and they seemed to think that Kaizen made a good candidate for that job. Still finding it funny, Ryuu barely noticed when Astra started talking to him, quickly shifting his attention back to his clan mates.

Whilst Astra spoke, Ryuu nodded his head at various intervals, indicating that he thought the same. He then used sign language to gesture:

I think this is a pretty good place to stay. It has lush grass. It seems prosperous enough, but at the same time, it is not a large enough place for others to really want to attack. Except for the pirates. Yeah I think we can deal with the pirates too.

With that, the boy turned back to the audience, and the clan indicated their want for staying. Ryuu nodded his head to the elderly man. As he did that, he noticed the man, along with several others, break into large grins. Ryuu could not help but grin a little himself too after seeing this.

Very well, come this way young ones!

Leaving the shore, Kaizen walked towards an area with more buildings. Ryuu couldn't help but notice all the people following behind them too. It seemed that they were very curious; they probably didn't see new faces around this place too often. Looking at the area they were going to, the Hyūga observed the place with his Byakugan. After a while, he made the conclusion that this was a peaceful place, with most of the houses looking humble. He also noticed curious villagers standing in front of their houses, intrigued by the large procession of people walking around the place. Children hung on to their parents' legs, wide-eyed at seeing this interesting event occur. At some point, Ryuu even heard a little boy of perhaps four or five years exclaim to his mother:

Mama mama can I play with them?

He looked up at her eagerly, but when she told him that they were too busy at the moment, his face fell. Not wanting to disappoint the little boy, Ryuu quickly ripped a paper out of his notebook, folding it into the shape of a flower. He also wrote upon it:

Your mother is right, but I can certainly play with you another day!

Giving it to the boy, Ryuu felt happy about making another person happy, before going on his way. He would return sometime later to play with the boy. Eventually, the elderly man stopped near some houses. He then pointed to a patch of empty land, saying:

Well here's a nice piece of land. I'm sure we can build something here for you to live comfortably.

Ryuu observed the place, which at the moment was just a slab of earth, about 10 by 10 metres; enough for a cosy little home. Surrounded by houses beside it and behind it, Ryuu thought it would be a rather fun and lively place to be in. He also noticed that the ocean could be seen from this place. So if any more trouble occurred, it would be easy for Kaizen to rush over. The elderly man spoke again, this time also addressing the crowd that had followed:

Alright, listen up everyone! Whoever wishes to help, we are building a house for these young lads here. Let's gather some wood to start off with. You lot over there, you can get your axes ready to cut some trees from that place over there. And you guys here will carry the wood here. Another group, you people, can carve the wood. Let's begin!

Ryuu wondered if this elderly man was a leader of some sorts in this place, for his speech appeared to motivate the crowd who punched their fists into the air and exclaimed "Yeahhh" in excitement. Ryuu felt overwhelmed at the show of support from these people, and he was sure that Astra felt that way too. Once everyone set off to their designated jobs, the elderly man went over to Kaizen, who were just standing there looking a little lost, and chuckled:

Haha, well you can join any group you see fit.

Winking at them, the man then hobbled away, appearing to talk to some other people now. Now that a place had been secured for them, Ryuu smiled at Astra; this was the beginning of something great. And with that, they walked off behind the others to gather some wood.

The villagers’ enthusiasm for manual labor was impressive. Helping construct a house for people they just met wasn’t a burden to them at all. On the contrary they were excited, cheerful even. This must be what being neighborly is all about. Astra couldn’t complain. The generosity of others can be an asset too. Soon after being shown a modest plot of land nestled comfortably between other homes, Astra and Ryuu were led to a nearby forest. Walking down a winding dirt path with a gang of hardy workers in tow, Astra started to look sullen. Most trees were bare and lifeless, others had become home to various fungi or were rotting from the inside out. It was far less enchanting than expected.

“What happened here? If someone was going for a haunted forest theme, i think they succeeded.” One of the younger workers looks around and laughs. “Yeah, I guess it can be a little unsettling. We’ve been logging here for years. Over time the best trees have all but disappeared.” “Aren’t there other forests around here? Why not get your wood from those instead?” “Well, there are forests further away but we’d need a vehicle to get the logs back to the village. Even then there isn’t a proper path for one. So, we have to make due with what we have.” His last sentence sounded like he was reciting something he’d heard before. It seemed the villagers chose to sacrifice quality for accessibility. Astra scoffed. “Not willing to go the extra mile for the village. That won’t do. You’ll never get anywhere by settling.” “Tell me about it.” He looked a bit annoyed as well.

The crew stopped to choose which trees to take down. Astra tousled Ryuu’s already messy hair. “Time to put those eyeballs to work. Let’s find ourselves some Grade A materials.” With Ryuu’s help and guidance from the workers, Astra identified the best trees in the area and marked them with kunai for the rest of the crew. Now they wouldn't waste time and energy taking down low grade trees. In small groups scattered about, the workers hacked away at the trees with theirs axes, making a repetitive banging noise only interrupted by shouts from some of the more experienced workers. Astra put on protective gloves and assisted them. On one side of a tree they would carve a triangular shape of about 90 degrees. On the other side a much thinner cut would be made almost halfway through the tree. They then got a wedge and pushed it into the thin opening before driving it in and yelling. “TIMBER!!!” The sight of a tree slowly tipping over before crashing to the earth is both exciting and frightening. They could feel tremors every time a hefty tree fell and then a joyous “Hey!” from the crowd. Astra and Ryuu made quick work of de-branching each tree using their trusty ninja tools to get the job done. They were making good progress.

When it was time to take down the final tree, the thickest one so far, it dropped at an unexpected angle and hit another tree on the way down. This caused a large branch to snap off and get catapulted toward one of the workers who had his attention elsewhere. The workers shouted in alarm, Astra was already on the move. The man clearly couldn’t get away, he hadn’t yet realized what was coming. Only a middle-aged man, Star-5, was near enough to reach him and even then would be cutting it close. He dove and shoved the man, falling to the ground with him. A second later the branch crashed right next to the man at the exact spot he was standing. "Ahhh!!!" The man was unharmed but Star-5 wasn't. Grimacing with a look of pain, he turned back to see his right leg crushed beneath the branch and bent at an odd angle. “Stay back!” Star-2 commanded, holding out his hands and stopping the workers coming to his aid. Other Stars rushed over and lifted the branch, which caused a groan to escape the injured one. Picking him up by the shoulders, Stars 3 and 6 carried him off to a secluded area. The rest of Astra addressed the workers and Ryuu. Especially Ryuu. “Don’t worry. He will be taken care of. Just keep working. We aren’t done yet.”

With Astra’s insistence, they all continued to work. The first group of workers joined the second group that hauled logs over their shoulders and carried them back to the village. Star-1 expedited this process by sealing much of the logs into a large scroll to be released later. Fortunately, the village was close enough that the task wouldn’t exhaust them too much. During this, the three Stars returned to the village where some of the workers were already telling people about the accident. The injured Star, his leg bandaged and held in place with a splint, assured the people that he was fine and had been through worse. He was moved to in an adjacent house where he could observe the project's progress. In time, all of the wood was stacked neatly near the plot of land where preparations were being made to construct the house.

Although they had managed to gather wood from the sparse trees in the forest, it was unfortunate that one of the Stars got injured in the process. Returning back to the plot of land, Ryuu watched as the men came and deposited pieces of wood near the land they were to stay on. Thinking to himself for a moment, Ryuu walked into the middle of the plot of land, whilst everyone else was busy with what they were doing. Performing a series of hand seals, the boy channeled chakra from his feet into the ground, creating a large tunnel underground. Moving towards the back of the land then, Ryuu did the same there, creating a tunnel there too. This one merged with the first one in the middle, creating an 'x' or '+' shape, depending on how it was seen. These would prove useful should there be an emergency in the area. The mute boy also planned to create tunnels in other places around the village later too, in order to create a maze of sorts. Of course, these tunnels could not be seen, unless one possessed a Doujutsu like his clan. Seeing Astra look at him with curiosity, Ryuu smiled towards them and put his thumb up, indicating it was all good. They could probably figure what he was doing with their Doujutsu.

(Doton: Ton'neru chika no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Tunneling Technique (2)
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 15
Damage: N/A
Description: The user after performing the required hand seals Ram → Dog → Rat → Bird is able to create a wide tunnel in the ground, this cannot travel through rock though or anything with a high density. The large tunnel that is created allows the user to transport others without detection.
Note: The initial entry of the technique is short range.
Since there were holes at the tops of the tunnels though, Ryuu created trapdoors above the tunnels, which camouflaged very well with the dirt around it. By this time, the workers had all finished carrying the wood to the land, and some had started shaping it into pillars and such. Pitching in, Kaizen also started to carve the wood, all different shapes and sizes. After a few hours of this, the sweaty laborers decided it was time to actually start the building process.

Many sounds of hammering and merry talk from the workers could be heard even from afar, as some sang songs to keep them focused on the task at hand. Ryuu was still astonished at how supportive these people were. They must be really desperate to have them here. Since he was still a child though, Ryuu was tasked with carrying the smaller logs, which hurt his pride a little. He'd grow up soon and become stronger than anyone! Soon enough, the wooden structure of the makeshift house was created. It consisted of a little square for a kitchen, a little rectangle for a bathroom and laundry, and three slightly larger squares for bedrooms. There was no living room though, for a ninja's living room is outside. They have the whole world.

Overseeing the project, Kaizen let the workers know that they were doing really good, and they continued along with them. They started to make the walls, with Ryuu helping wherever he could to use the Earth Release technique to make the walls too. After some time, the walls too were done. However, by this time, it was night time, and it was clear that the villagers were ready to drop. Some looked as if they were even going to fall asleep standing! Consulting the old man, Ryuu asked him, through writing of course, if he could ask them to stop now. They had helped a lot, and for that he thanked them. Ryuu and Astra would be enough to complete the remainder of the house the next day. Surely enough, people returned home eagerly, and the clan was invited to the elderly man's house to spend the night there. As soon as Ryuu's head hit the pillow, he was fast asleep.

Cock a doodle doooooooo

Ryuu was woken by the sound of a rooster, sunlight pouring onto his face from a nearby window. Looking around, he was confused for a bit, before remembering where he was. Ah yes, they had to complete the house they were creating in this new abode of theirs! But where was everyone else? Getting up, Ryuu walked out of the house, where he found Astra, all seeming to be doing some funny exercises. One was trying to reach his toes, another doing push ups... All looking at him at the sane time, they said "Stretching" at the same time, with straight expressions, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. It was so funny for Ryuu he couldn't help but grin from ear to ear.

He then followed them back to the place where they were making their house. The structure was pretty much complete, thanks to the workers. Now they would work by themselves. Only the roof and the interior designing was left. Using each other as ladders, two of the Astra would be atop each other, with one right at the top to secure the logs for the roof. Ryuu was at the bottom separately, passing logs to the two mini 'ladders'. This was a pretty efficient way if you asked them. Eventually, the roof too was done.

The clan moved on to the interior designing next. Walls were already done, so it was pretty much just the kitchen, since it was more intricate than a bedroom. Using his Earth Release technique, Ryuu managed to make bench tops, cupboards and shelves in a very fast amount of time. He then made little cupboards and shelves in the bedrooms too, along with doors for every room. As for the floor, they also used wood to make wood panels as tiles, making sure not to cover the trapdoors though.

Looking back, Kaizen then heaved a sigh of relief, looking at the completed work. They now had a place to call their home, and what's more, they were welcome in this place too. The villagers had also helped make it, which made Ryuu feel proud. He looked over to Astra, giving them a beaming smile, before they all walked out to the front of the house.

Stepping out of their nearly completed house, Kaizen had to dodge an assortment of paint cans and a few ladders to actually get far enough to see the exterior in its entirety. The building’s structure became more irregular as the the eye reached the upper level. Astra was smiling with their hands on their hips, looking very smug as they circled the building. They personally saw to its design, refusing to have anyone else oversee it. There was no symmetry to the house at all. Its roof looked like a combination of three roofs all at different heights and angles like pieces of other houses were mashed together. Windows covered every section of the house, some big, some small, but none quite the same shape. Even the chimneys poking up through the top hand no real uniformity. The same could be said for the color. Astra was awestruck and loudly cheered on the workers on how well they followed Astra’s specifications. No one hue dominated the exterior of the house. It was instead awash with red, greens, yellows, and blues; a collaboration of all their efforts.

One of the Stars showed Ryuu a wide, cheerful grin. Their happiness was genuine. It was just the start of Kaizen’s progress and the villagers could not be more supportive. Astra then began to stumble and slowly made their way back into the house, nearly crawling their way upstairs.

“Ryuu...make sure...*yawn*...no one sees Astra, OK? It...would be...really...”

Flopping to the floor as ungracefully as possible, the Six Stars pass out in the middle of the room. They hadn’t slept for a few days after working all night on designs and blueprints. At a glance they might have looked like they were asleep but no sound escaped them, no movement was seen. They were lifeless. Only Ryuu knew the truth about them. He was the only one they couldn't deceive, the only one they trusted. Maybe that could change.

It was rather early in the morning as John made his way onto the village. His presence was immediately met with prying eyes, his tall slender figure covered with a hooded cloak left some people gasping in fear. Letting down his hood, he approaches a nearby hut with food items on display. Revealing an exhausted face and blood dripping from his forehead, he points towards one of the Kushiyaki on display and rummages his pockets to pull out a single gold coin. Alarmed by the state of the shinobi, the owner cries out,

"For heaven's sake, you look like a dead man. Sit down first. Are you alright?"

John, standing still for about a second suddenly regains conscious to speak out

"How long till the next ship leaves Hanguri gulf?"

Shocked by the completely unexpected response, the owner huffs out, "At this state you're not going to the next village let alone past the gulf. Here eat this. "

The meat was warm. Grabbing the piping hot skewer of meat, John munches on the lot before being asked questions again.

"Who are you? The pirates will make it impossible to cross the gulf anyway, why are you here?"

"I'm Johnathan", he replies as he finishes the last of the meat in a quick snake like motion, "I am a merch-". The sentence wasn't finished as he looks down and sees blood dripping onto the seat he was at. Having been exhausted from the massacre and the continuous travels, it appeared that the unattended wound and blood loss had left John shaken from the core. He only heard a few voices from then on, as the owner discussed things with the people surrounding his limp body

"What do we do? He's all bloody and injured!"

"We have to take them to the little doctor. He's not going to be making it unattended"

"But he's a stranger and the new peo-"

"Enough. Two of us should be enough to take him to their home. Now help me"

John could feel his body being carried by two rather stout individuals. His vision was still blurry and he couldn't make out the shapes. After a while he felt the people stop and seemingly knock on the door. It was when he lost all consciousness and went into a slumber.

Astra was getting themselves ready when they heard a rapid knock at the door. It sounded urgent. Tying her hair into a ponytail, Star-3 peeked through a small window and saw a haggard man held up only by the strength of the two villagers at his sides. He didn’t look like anyone they recognized from the village. ****! Had no one told them not to bring outsiders to the base? She left the room at once and quietly went downstairs. Star-2 who was also done followed her out and shut the door behind him. Star-3 opened the door and had no reaction to seeing the unconscious man bleeding onto their doorstep.

“Thank goodness! This merchant, he’s bleeding so much. He’ll die if he doesn’t-”

“Stop.” Star-3 said firmly, pointing to the man in their arms. “Do you know this person?”

“No, he just-”

“Yet you two decided to bring him here?”

“I told Victor not to bring him but he insisted...”

Star-3 stepped forward and nonchalantly picked the man up by his cloak with one hand. Then he spoke to the men.

“You made the right choice coming to us. He’ll live, that’s all that matters.”

Victor brought his hands together, looking relieved.

“Thank you, Kaizen. I couldn’t bear to leave him to die, not after eating my Kushiyaki.”

As Star-3 walked back inside with the injured man and Star-2 moved to close the door, she left the villagers with a warning.

“I’m sure you had the best intentions but try not to put our security at risk like that.”

Inside, Star-2 had placed the man on a mat and removed his bloody cloak, careful not to get any bodily fluids on the floor. Star-2 approached him. He was bruised all over and bleeding profusely. What could have happened to injure him so badly? They could easily find out and he wouldn’t know. He was unconscious after all. She reached for his head and stopped before she could touch him, her hand frozen in place. She grimaced. They had no time. Their reputation could be a stake. After a moment she lowered her arms and helped Star-2 press cloths against his wounds to lessen the bleeding. The other Stars searched for Ryuu and called him down. Astra could not deal with this on their own.

The tired boy had just managed to fall asleep when a loud knock sounded on the bedroom door. Ugh, what was it now? After making a house, Ryuu really needed a nap. Sitting up and yawning, the door opened before he had a chance to stand up, and in came a Star, telling Ryuu to come down urgently. Already trouble in the village so soon after settling? The mute boy sighed internally, put on his clothes and followed the Star downstairs.

Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, all sleepiness vanished from Ryuu as he noticed a man laying on a mat, covered in a substantial amount of blood. Looking at the other Stars, he could see they were concerned about this man too, as they were clearly asking him to heal the man. Activating his Byakugan, the Hyūga walked towards the man, inspecting his body with his eyes carefully as he drew closer. Ryuu was a medical ninja, and so he took this job seriously. After looking at the stranger, Ryuu concluded that the man had no internal injuries; just bruising and profuse bleeding which needed to be rectified.

Setting to work at once, the boy motioned for the Stars to remove the pieces of cloth that they were using to press against the blood, now that he was here. By this time, the blood was clotted anyways. He also asked one of them to bring a bucket of water, which he used to carefully wash over the wounds. Unfortunately, some blood ended up getting on the floor, for which Ryuu looked apologetically at Astra, considering they were careful not to get any blood on the floor before. Once the blood was cleaned, the Medical Ninja then focused chakra into both his hands, creating a greenish aura of chakra around them. Hovering them above the man's injuries, the wounds soon closed up, and the bruises lightened until they disappeared, leaving the man in a much better state. Now that he was not bleeding anymore, and his body was not riddled with bruises, he looked like a normal man again.

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Shōsen Jutsu) - Medical Technique: Mystic Palm Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra: N/A (2x the amount of damage healed)
Damage: N/A
Description: This medical ninjutsu allows the user to speed up the body's natural healing process by focusing chakra onto their hands, forming an aura of greenish chakra which he then sends into a wound or afflicted body part. The limitation of the technique is that it cannot regrow missing body parts or remove with poisons or toxins, though it can heal damage by them. Additionally, perhaps its more severe drawback is the chakra cost, which is much higher than any other medical technique. For each damage point the user of the technique wishes to heal, he needs to spend twice as much chakra. Basically, for x amount of damage the user needs to spend 2x amount of chakra to repair/heal. The user can also use this technique on himself and it can be used with one hand or two and even in two targets at a time or while using another technique with the other hand. The speed of the healing is fast but not instant.
Note: Can be used on up to 2 targets.
Note: Can only be used by Medical Ninja.
However, the stranger was still very weak from lack of blood, and so Ryuu took a pill out of his medical kit, stuffing it into the man's mouth. Then he also poured some water into his mouth in order to make it easier for it to go down the man's throat. Upon doing this, the man spluttered, almost choking on the water, but Ryuu noted with his Byakugan that the pill had gone into his body. Now they would have to wait for the man to wake up to investigate what had happened to him. Meanwhile, Ryuu looked at the puddle of bloody water on the floor and started to soak it up with a mop the villagers had kindly given them earlier. After a few times of mopping, washing the mop and squeezing it, the floor was back to normal. Wiping the sweat off his forehead with the back of his left forearm, the boy then put the mop away and returned to Astra.

Using sign language, he asked them:

Who do you suppose this man is? I think he'll need a shower once he gets up...

(Ketsueki no Zōka Piru) Blood Replenishing Pill

This pill alleviates and cancels the symptoms of blood loss after one turn. These pills are a basic medicine medical ninjas use or administer in combat and are essentially dark red small round pills which are swallowed and absorbed through the mucosa in the stomach

Type: Healing
Description and Background: Contains high concentrations of amino acids, iron and mitosis inducing enzymes designed to turbo boost the production of erythrocytes from haematopoetic stem cells in the human body. This pill alleviates and cancels the symptoms of blood loss after one turn. These pills are a basic medicine medical ninjas use or administer in combat and are essentially dark red small round pills which are swallowed and absorbed through the mucosa in the stomach
Description of Side Effects:
-Taking 2 pills leads to increased blood pressure, and increased likelihood of blood clots forming, specially through trauma.
-Taking 3 pills over stresses the cardiovascular system and causes fainting from lack of blood to the head after 4 turns.
-Costs a move per turn to use.
Chakra: 1400 - 5 - 60 = 1335
It was all a dream. John's sense of awareness was almost non-existent until upto the point he felt the numbness in his body into pain and then back to normal again. His muscles relaxed and his heart-rate picked up the pace. He only truly regained consciousness as he felt something forced down his throat. It was almost an involuntary choke, his body not used to being forced by external factors. Still lacking in stamina, he softly reached for his right pant's pocket, to feel if the Ancient Temple's key was still there. Failing miserable at the attempt of lifting his hand, he passed out.
Several hours later, once he realized his body felt normal again he abruptly lifts his body in almost an aggressive motion- like a cornered animal. The three-tomoed sharingan pattern revealing itself for a brief instant of a few seconds to scan the room until it disappeared back to his usual green eyes. Staring ahead, he could see several figures in the room (Star 2, 3 and Ryu) but remained unable to utter a word. He was never good with people anyway. John stared coldly ahead; silent; looking at everyone but no-one at the same time.

( Doujutsu: Sharingan ) Eye Technique: Copy Wheel Eye
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C - A Rank
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 15 - 30 ( -5 per turn for 1T and 2T, 10 per turn to keep active for 3T )
Damage: N/A
Description:
One of the Three Great Dōjutsu (San Daidōjutsu), the Sharingan is the kekkei genkai of the Uchiha clan. Unlike the other Dōjutsu, not all members of the Uchiha Clan possess the Sharingan. This great Dōjutsu seems to awaken only on exceptional Uchiha members and only in times of great stress. Once awaken, the pupil turns red and a single tomoe (巴) seal appears around the center pupil. As the user masters and evolves their eyes, the tomoe (巴) seals increase, topping 3 per eye. The main ability of the Sharingan, like any other Dōjutsu, is to enable the user to see the flow of chakra. This ability is further improved as the Sharingan gives color to chakra, enabling the user to differentiate chakras from different people or from different sources. Although the user can see chakra through matter, he cannot see beyond dense matter or in long distances. Coupled with the ability to see chakra, Sharingan users gain acess to an incredible clarity of perception that enables them to read insanely fast movements or minor details, enabling them the ability to foresee in an easier way, traps, incoming attacks, etc. This clarity of perception is so great that a Sharingan user can sometimes start performing a counter to an attack that is still being performed, enabling the counter to be launched only a split a second after the attack. This clarity of perception leaves Sharingan users able to track high speed movement easily as well as to read through handseals. This last ability enables them to learn techniques much faster and sometimes copy them directly from the enemy, as long as the user has the necessary chakra affinities and requirements to perform it. Finally, the Sharingan is often linked to Genjutsu and mind-manipulating illusions, mostly because the user can, mostly through Eye Contact, directly and precisely use his chakra to manipulate the enemy's chakra flow. In return, the users clarity of perception gives him the ability to more easily decipher visual illusions cast upon him and see past them. The Sharingan has a great cost to the user though. The chakra consumption disables its use for long periods of time and, even when the user grows stronger, it's still hard to keep it active for long periods of time.
Note: The user, if he hasn't gained full mastery over his Sharingan, will need to spend a move to activate it, although as long as he has chakra and enough stamina he'll be able to keep it active until the end of the match. If the user is Sannin Rank or above and has gained his 3 Tomoe Sharingan and held it for one month, he becomes able to passively activate it, meaning he'll no longer spend a move of his 3 per turn.
Note: To avoid direct Eye Contact and be able to focus only on the body movement below the chin, the opponent needs to have mastered Taijutsu to possess the necessary skill
Note: C rank usage is for 1T Sharingan, B rank usage is reserved for 2T Sharingan. A Rank usage is reserved for 3T Sharingan.
Note: Predicting the nature of a technique or what it exactly is requires the user to either know the technique or that its a cannon technique.
Note: Danzo and Kakashi bios activate the Sharingan by removing the covers in their respective eyes and suffer a +10 chakra consumption per turn penalty
Note: The user is bound by the abilities and limits of the stage of sharingan he possesses, stated in the rules of the KG.

Astra nearly jumped when their guest jolted awake in a fearful manner. Star-2 was sitting backwards in a nearby chair watching for movement. He blinked a few times after seeing the stranger's eyes flash red for a moment. What a surprise. It had been a while since they'd seen an Uchiha who wasn't suffering in one way or another. No, that's not right. This one looked like he'd seen some shit. He grinned, taking on a friendly demeanor.

"He lives! How are you feeling? A lot better i bet."

Star-3 stood by window looking out with her arms crossed. If anyone else decided to drop a bomb on their doorstep she would have surely spotted them. Astra couldn't help but be paranoid. A few of the other Stars had left the house while their guest out cold to gather accounts of the stranger's arrival from villagers. From what they heard the man had arrived from the north in the same abysmal state they found him in asking about a ship going across the gulf. Unfortunately they didn't answer any important questions. If the man was attacked by someone and managed to escape to the village, whoever assaulted him could be searching for him nearby. Using sign language, Astra had shared their thoughts with Ryuu who seemed equally curious about their guest. Now that he was awake, they could finally learn something about him.

"We are part of Kaizen," he continued, "The clan that saved your life...or made you a little easier on the eyes. Should have seen yourself earlier. You looked like crap."

Still rather shaky but steadying gaining strength per second, John speaks to the strange people for the first time

"Someone here healed me."

Surveying the room, he could see Astra and Ryuu in the vicinity. Listening to what they had to say, John simultaneously rummaged his pockets for the temple key and found it. Regaining his composure then, he starts

"Kaizen, you have my gratitude. I did have a bit of a rough time recently. Though to be that bad in shape, I must have fallen off a really tall building.

You people are shinobi.. why are you here?"

Ryuu looked over with amusement at Astra and the man talking, before hearing the newcomer ask a question. Realising that this man probably did not know sign language like Astra did, Ryuu immediately started to write the following on a piece of paper on his notebook:

Indeed we are shinobi. We just settled here actually... Why are we here? I suppose the short answer to that is that we wanted a place to stay. But the better question is, why are you here? You were so battered up that I had to heal you, as well as replenish your blood. Seems a bit suspicious...

Tearing out this paper, the mute boy walked over to the man and handed it over to him so he could read it.

Astra pretended not to notice when the pale stranger checked his pocket a second time. He had something valuable in there, something he didn’t want to lose. They could’ve brought up the little thing in his pants but they knew better than to prod a stray cat. Astra maintained a welcoming atmosphere even as the man spoke of his injuries as though he didn’t know how he got them. Of course! Nothing strange about that! People wake up with unexplained injuries all the time! Star-2 just chuckled with a wry smile on his face.

“Must have been quite the fall...”

They needed something to distract them from all the mental alarms going off. Star-3 leaned over Ryuu, staring blankly at what he was writing before it was handed off to the man. Without changing her expression she placed her knuckles on the sides of his head and pressed inward.

“Where do you get off calling people suspicious to their face?”

She ground her knuckles into the boy's skull until she was a little less irritated, then directed her attention back to the man.

"You can be honest with us. We won't take anything from you."

Ryuu winced as Star-3 ground her knuckles into his head, ducking away quickly to avoid the pain. He had to admit to himself that it did seem a bit foolish to write what he had written. He had always been a bit of a straightforward person though, so he was grateful to have Astra by his side to help with his interpersonal skills. The boy still had much to learn. Listening to Star-3 talk to the man, with the tips of his ears now tinged red due to embarrassment, he wondered if the stranger would open up enough to answer her...

John looked intently at the piece of paper and grimaced at the straightforwardness of the boy. It was also obvious that the other people weren't the same, and knew how to use tact to deal with unfamiliar situations. He, being the one in the room.

Reading the letter and listening to the rather smart Star-3, he begins

"I trade things... I am a merchant. Taking things from me is quite a sin to even think of!"

Thinking deeply, he realizes we have looking at the unexpected kindness of the people ahead of him, and as a return of favor he decides to tell them the truth. However, what they chose to believe and how incomplete the truth was.. was quite hard to figure out.

"A few moons of travel away, there is an ancient temple. The temple is said to reside of ninja monks who keep care of the area and preserve it. However.. it was come to my attention that they also kept something much darker. The records of times where, in the name of their gods they tortured; men and beasts alike.. or even something else. I have a friend, he is.. he is...different. He might not appear the friendliest but he isn't deceitful. He is honest. It was his people who were victim to the temple years ago. He wanted me to investigate so..." John pauses before revealing the key,
"This is the key to the treasury of the temple. I have acquired it through difficult means. I have already prepared a letter for my friend alongside an envelope to carry this letter. I was leaving to drop it off at our rendezvous but.. I guess the ports are closed.
"

Setting his gaze onto Star-3's eyes, he finishes his story,

" This profession means I don't have many friends, kind shinobi. But my young friend.. he deserves a better life. He deserves the truth. It is absolutely essential he gets this. And I will do my best to keep my word "

Ryuu listened intently to the man's account of what he was doing, but he still did not know why the man was covered in blood when he arrived. Did he have to fight to obtain this key? The boy looked over at Astra, wondering if they would say anything. They were obviously more mature than he, being a child after all, and so he trusted what they would say more. He had already inadvertently acted too bluntly, and what they needed at the moment was the man's trust. He wondered if the stranger was a good man, for if he was, Ryuu could offer later to help him with the delivery of his letter. After all, he was an ink user, and so he specialised in spying and delivering information to places discreetly.
