How does that even make sense? So, it's ok for Sasuke to be a violent murderer, who attacks his teachers, friends, family and village, because it would be OOC, for him not to react in the way he did?

At least Anakin Skywalker was consistent with his turn to the Dark Side and only had regrets when his plans blew up in his face.

interesting. this is why sasuke is my fave, his character is one who isnt easily read at face value, far from it. am still trying to figure out what kishi is actually trying to say here. basically for certain actions taken by sasuke to seem believable and not ooc, he has to somehow re-arrange the plot to cater for him. think dats it

Contrived=forced. I fail to see how making the situation fit Sasuke's character is more forced that having Sasuke do something OOC :|

Speaking in general. Kishi never knew how to write Sasuke and he even rushed his redemption in the end of 698/699.

Sasuke during his Hebi days was the best written.
Anything after that was just forced nonsense and back and forth drama to make us stay awake for the next chapter.

Myself taking issue with Kishi ostensibly tying himself into knots in order to justify all the changes he makes to Sasuke's character, and by extension the positions he puts Sasuke in; has nothing to do with Kishi's seemingly bipolar nature of writing Sasuke but is really just salt.

Yeah, but not Sasuke's character just the story. If u have a problem with how Sasuke's story was handled then that pretty much just comes down to your own opinion.

I am not going to lie though during the juubi jin fights there were multiple times where I saw that Kishimoto was forcing Sasuke to fail in order to make him realize that he needed others.

But I found it stupid that Kishimoto made Sasuke still go through with his plans so resolute making all that nerffing pointless.

So I can admit that there were indeed parts where how Kishimoto's handling of Sasuke felt contrived

i dont know why that rustles you. if anything this interview strenghtens that claim tremendously. it reveals kishi does put in a lot of thought when he comes to developing sasuke, that is pretty evident from reading the manga alone. it shows that sasukes actions are so key in his plot that he has to take his time to figure out how he behaves(to move the plot as he says) without making it look forced and ruin the character. i also remember him saying that sasuke challenges him as an author, because he is stubborn or something along that line.

Both the story and Sasuke suffer from him trying to make Sasuke stay in character.

I think when Sasuke was trying to chase after Itachi that was when he was at his best. He should have kept Itachi alive a little longer. Made Sasuke want more power before he let him go berserk. That would have stopped him going Light Yagami's way in the end.

Also out of curiousity do you prefer his duckbutt hair or his latest hair?

MS Sasuke when his hair went over his eyes and he looked crazy.
