The more i read into it, the more i realize that the character of sakura was intended as an object of scorn for readers. First up:
Its true that she aided chiyo brilliantly against sasori and showed medic skills healing kankuro. I thought back then that her character would be a strong one from that point on. Everything thats happened since paints her in a negative, unlikable light.
Character development can be sketchy for certain chars, over done for others and altogether ignored in the case of some. Sakura falls into the last category. Simply take a look at the thoroughly detailed background stories we get for chars like kabuto, madara, hashirama, sasuke and itachi. Kishi takes us into their past, carefully showing events that shaped their current behaviour and how one thing led to another until we're left empathising with that character : we may not agree with what they did/are doing, but we understand them and their reasons for taking the decisions that they did.
For example, if we had been given a flashback of sakuras childhood experiences, perhaps with her family and how, idk how her parents were overly zealous with her, so it led her to like the contrast that the aloof personality of sasuke afforded. Something along those lines to explain and give reason to her love for sasuke on some level. Because to continue to obssess over someone who actively wants to kill you deserves an explanation or it makes the character look illogical if not downright stupid. Its only natural to dislike her if no explanation is given. It then suggests that shes acting on mere infatuation, and hardly anyone likes someone like that plus its not realistic for a person to not get over something like that after years have passed and the other person loathes you.
And strength wise, we've never been shown her fighting an opponent where she had a flashback from her childhood where she faced a similar dilemna and fought through it. Like sasukes flashback of hunting a boar with itachi when he was small. She could have been given a team up with say, ino where they fight one of oros henchmen, or a jounin of some village and have a chuldhood flashback. Kishi loves flashbacks, and not giving a character with unusual behaviour(unending love for sasuke) one leaves that negative behaviour unexplained, and that character disliked.
