Kisame fought and beat the 4 tails by himself and fought Bee until he switched with white zetsu. To me earth, fire, and lava jutsus are fierce. It was already stated many times that a wise ninja knows when to retreat when they can't win.
That's only valid if his Samehadad absorbed tail beast chakra which Jiraiya doesn't have. Didn't read through all the pages but doesn't Kisame require tailed beast chakra to be able to do the dome?

I understand your point of view on this but still all we know for a FACT is what was said and what happened. So to say the reason is pure speculation.
I truly believe if Kisame sucks him up right away (yes I know it sounds bad) then the fight is his but chances are J-dog will summon a human size toad to fight for him right off and end up learning of the sword right away. J-dog is no genus but has battle skills are unreal. And Charka or none if he summons any big toad the will just sit on Kisame.
To be fair in the nartutoverse you jsut can not use rock, paper, etc. Its just does not work that way in Naruto. J dog still wins but can't use this as an example.
Plus one giant toad is just as big as the water Kisame can summoon. He just can't hold them in that.
That isn't even speculation, it is common sense. It shouldn't be that hard to understand why Itachi said it. Kishi write's from each persons point of view, so just because it is in the manga does's make it a fact. Kishi originally wrote that Hiruzen stopped the third coffin, later we find out that Minato was unable to be ressurected because his soul was in the Death God. Anyway, we don't need to use the comment Itachi made since we know of Itachi's, Jiraiya's and Kisame's full abilities. Especially considering how vague the comment was.
