Itachi is better than Kisame.

Kisame will be put in Tsukyomi the moment he makes eye contact with Itachi.
Tsukyomi cannot be broken by Samehada or Kisames large chakra pool that idea was just ridiculous and had no evidence to back it up.

Itachi would not give Kisame the chance to perform the seals necessary to create a large body of water. Kisames arm would be on the ground as soon as he tries to make a seal and Samehada will be dead in the ground with 40 shurikens in it's back.

Itachi is far too lethal for Kisame to combat.

Huge Chakra reserves won't help against Genjutsu, especially not if we're talking about a character with merely 2.5 points at it. There are illusions that can be broken that way, and there are illusions that are too powerful for that - for example the ones used with a Sharingan (that's not just obvious, but even stated in the third databook). Naruto, despite having a huge amount of Chakra (5 points), couldn't even break an illusion used by an Itachi clone with merely 30% of his regular Chakra. Apart from that Itachi can cast illusions without the enemy noticing it - shown at Itachi vs. Naruto, Itachi vs. Deidara, Itachi vs. Sasuke and Itachi vs. Bee.

Despite that I agree with some points you made - Suiton: Daikodan no Jutsu would be a great technique to counter Susanoo ineed - unless it's equipped with Yata no Kagami. The water prison might be dangerous for Itachi as well - assumed he could be caught in it, which I strongly doubt.

Both Kisame and Samehada could absorb Amaterasu, but I wonder about the dangers and side-effects of that, since their absorbation seems to be different from the one Nagato uses. Samehada apparently suffered pain when it absorbed a regular Katon technique, whose heat can't be compared to that of Amaterasu.

Itachi has way too many possibilities to defeat Kisame, while Kisame hasn't. Itachi is overall too skilled for him.

There no evidence saying that it wouldn't be able to broke his genjutsu neither. However, we so know the means in which one could break genjustu and kisame possess those ablities.

You seem to be overrating Itachi's speed in this matter. As both are partners knows itachi speed and to avoid his eye contact, which wouldn't have a negative effect in the fight because he is a sensor

His genjutsu require either eye contact or close range, two things Kisame could easily avoid.
Yeah i agree Kisame would put up a hell of a fight and might even win. Only thing i have an issue with is Sword of totsuka, with no prior info it'd be tough. But if Kisame manages to keep it long range with water attacks he can pwn Itachi.

Thats if itachi would be able to use it, Kisame could easily drain his chkra preventing him from using it. This could be dwn by him, his sword or technique

this may have convinced me that Kisame is actually greater than Itachi in a number of ways, but its kind of hard to accept lol

At first glance it seems pretty dumb but you have a point. Itachi's chakra reserves have always been poor and Kisame has the same amount as a tailed beast. All Kisame has to do is hold out until Itachi is out of chakra (which wouldn't be that long if he went all out) and then Kisame would make quick work of him

Exactly the point of this thread, ppl fail to realize his strength and abilities as they make him greater than itachi. Most don't recognize it and don't want to

Yeah but to drain his chakra he has to get close to mid range. That's dangerous because he could fall prey to Itachi's illusions in that range.

HOWEVER, if he stays long range and starts with water attacks and makes that dome and fuses with samehada, Kisame def wins because Itachi is known for being low on chakra.

nice thread btw, kisame is 1 of my faves

You must be registered for see images

this should be more than enough distance

Itachi takes this clearly. Kisame has no counter against Tsukiyomi and Amaterasu. Also, Itachi is better strategist.
that's your opinion, but they have already been countered
