Obito relies way to much on his Kamui. While Kakashi only just discovered recently (in the grand time frame of things) how to use his Kamui. Also, given that we know very little about Obito's other skills that don't involve Kamui, I'd say Kakashi has the upper hand since we do know he is a very capable shinobi.

Otherwise, Obito should logically beat the living day lights out of Kakashi and then some, and I am not even counting Rinnegan and Mokuton here.

But the strength of characters is driven by story, so saying "it's only because of the story that something" is true, but pointless. Every event in the manga happened because of the story. Kakashi VS Obito will not be an exception.
What people need to understand is that the author himself has presented Kakashi as the third most important character in the series:
-Son of White fang
-Minato's student
-One of the main villian's riva/friendl (Obito)
-The main character's sensei
-Youngest ever Jounin
-Uses Sharingan better than most of the Uchiha clan
to anyone who has read this manga correctly, it should be no surprise that Kakashi is this strong, in fact, there are people who say characters like Muu/Raikage etc are stronger than him, which is beyond absurd. It's a case of people underrating Kakashi to extreme levels before this war, and now they see he is one of the most powerful shinobi, so instead of admitting they were wrong, they just follow the bandwagon about a character being "overrated". Saying a character is overrated does not constitute as an argument, because let's be honest, every single kage-level shinobi has been "overrated" at some point, heck, even Hidan is overrated sometimes lol
I see nothing wrong with this actually. In fact to me kakashi's latest feats and hype though ridiculous due to kishi's inconsistency with his own rules, kakashi's hasn't been overrated as much as itachi or naruto.
When the latest chapters come out and a character performs they usually get overrated, that is nothing new. So kakashi being overrated was to be expected and as i said it still isn't as much as when we saw bm naruto arrive or itachi and even edo madara and hashirama's hype.
Even if we exclude kamui for obito i still favour obito more than kakashi.
Granted kakashi is a much, much superior fighter than obito, but obito even without kamui and rinnegan is stronger.
He has limited below average mokuton feats, but he makes up for it with izanagi, something that will keep kakashi on his toes and should force him to use kamui, which would be useless and will drain his chakra.
Anyway, kakashi has certainly closed the gap on people who were stronger than him prior to his latest feats.
But these people are still stronger than him. Kamui, this one technique will allow kakashi to punch above his weight, yes punch above his weight and allow him to compete and on a good day, defeat the likes of; nagato, itachi, sm kabuto, mu.
All these people have greater hype and greater arsenal than kakashi put also character portrayal by kishi has put them above kakashi. So while on a good day he can beat these people, that doesn't mean he is now on par nor does it mean he has surpassed them
The latest chapter showed us that Kakashi could've ended the fight very quickly. Unless you're blind and deny manga canon, that should be quite obvious.
But every fighter is different, Kakashi can do a better job against Obito than Naruto can, but I'd say Naruto is stronger than Kakashi. A>B>C logic does not always work.
