We're going to loop back to that one after we get to YY Mode. I'm not sure why I was gonna teach it now but I'll answer those when we get to it. For now, the last Yin tech.

(Inton: Namakemono no Ude ) Yin Release: Hands of Sloth

Type: Supplementary/Offensive/Defensive
Rank: S
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra Cost: 100 (110 w/ YY: Hands of Sloth) -50 per turn
Damage: 80 (each hand)
Description: This technique gets its name from one of the deadliest sins, sloth. The user begins by clapping their hands and focusing their Yin Release chakra behind them. The user creates several chakra arms (up to 8) behind them which are spiritual in nature. They do not appear to the naked senses, only Sage Mode users, Rinnegan and other Yin-Yang Release users can detect these hands. The best way to describe this technique is in relation to Madara’s Boader Jail technique. The arms are capable of physically interacting with the world and attacking or defending against physical constructs. However, the user can freely turn them completely intangible if they wish to bypass physical obstacles. The base usage of this technique allows the user to attack or defend covertly by freely manipulating the invisible arms. However, in their second form the user can add the “properties of sloth” to the hands which are dejection, idleness, and sleep. Dejection is a loss of will and focus translated in causing a victim to lose coherent perception of the world around them and weaken their ability to defend against genjutsu. Idleness is a loss of action which is translated to a hampered ability to cast techniques. Sleep is a loss of consciousness which is translated in a comatose state brought about by the sealing of one’s spirit if they are not sufficiently healed. The third and final form of this technique is brought about when the user introduces their Yang Release chakra which essentially makes the hands quasi-sentient and self-sufficient without the user’s mental input.
Note: all Yin Release users can use the base form of this technique. Yin Release masters or Yin-Yang users can use the second form. The final form of this technique can only be used by Yin-Yang users with a Yin affinity.
Note: The properties of sloth are spiritually degenerating properties. The more a victim interacts with the hands the worse they become. When touched by the hands once, the victim enters dejection and becomes unable to deduce A-rank and above genjutsu and unable to break S-rank genjutsu by any means. When touched twice the victim enters idleness and they become unable to perform techniques within a single time-frame. When touched thrice, the victim’s mind is sealed over the course of 2 turns and they enter a genjutsu that renders them a mindless puppet to the user. The properties of sloth can only affect victims if the hands are tangible. Switching between tangibility and intangibility requires a move.
Note: Genjutsu specialists and other Yin-Yang users can resist the properties of sloth through the use of counter genjutsu or Yin Release techniques like Yin-Yang Mode’s Yin State.
Note: This technique can be used once per battle. While in use, the user cannot use any non-elemental ninjutsu, Yang Release, or Yin-Yang Release techniques.

Now, this technique is very powerful; by creating Yin chakra, you are able to combat the enemy's spiritual side and cause some injury to it as well as potential degenerative effects.

You start by creating arms of Yin chakra behind you. Those without any sensing outside of SM, Rinnegan and YY Sensing cannot detect these. There are 3 levels of this: Basic (Creating just the arms I described), Advanced (Adding the sloth like effects, you can make it impossible for those hit to reduce Gen above B rank, and unable to break above A rank. Touched twice and they cannot perform techs in the same timeframe. Touched three times, they cannot defend st all, their mind becomes comatose for 2 turns) and Yin Yang (this allows the hands to become alive basically, able to act on their own and without control from you, being fully sentient).

Everyone with Yin can use the base level. Everyone with Yin-Yang can use the second version. Only those with Yin-Yang and a Yin affinity can use the third version.

What limitations can you see with it? How would you defend against it in both its intangible and tangible forms? What other things of note do you see?

I was speaking to Ian about this and hit a wall with those same questions. I suppose if you have the ability to track them, dodging the arms is the best way of defending. Besides that, I don't see how someone that can't track them can defend against them (especially due to the ability to become tangible and intangible, essentially ruling out constructs as a valid form of dense) other than a fuuinjutsu that reacts to attacks on the brain. Is the "sloth" effect supposed to be a genjutsu? Would regular genjutsu measures suffice to defend against it, such as relying on an outside source or your vanguard item?

As for things to note, it's only usable once per battle and it locks you out of Yang, YY or non-elemental ninjutsu. I suppose that entails illusionary techniques, which is an interesting development because I feel the sloth ability is the perfect set up for stronger gens so essentially when you're ready to use a gen, you will have to turn off this technique and you wouldn't be able to reactive it again in said battle. Quick question; if you use the third and final version, does the restraint that locks you out of Yang, YY, etc. still valid? Or is that no longer the case since the hands would be self-sustainable and independent?

Does the Yang healing technique provide recovery from mental warfare, btw?

It should be noted that it specifies physical obstacles being bypassed. Much like Keigoku, this shouldn't rule energy based substances out. Its tangible form can still be combated like normal. These, however, hinge on being able to either see or track the arms. Should you see them created and then they disappear, a wide scale energy based attack of high damage is likely your best option.

The sloth effect uses Yin to directly damage your spiritual energy. Due to its negative and corrosive abilities, using your Yin to interact with others will likely cause them negative effects. They're very real unlike Genjutsu, which makes a lot of Gen counters invalidated by default. In this case, that wont do much for the hands.

Also, pay attention to the fact that it says "non-elemental ninjutsu. Genjutsu doesn't fall under this as it's a Genjutsu field. However, Fuuinjutsu does. Kinjutsu does, etc. It none elemental Ninjutsu so you can still use Gen, Tai, Base 5, AE (if you have them), and CE (if you have them). Most other fields will always fall under the Nin umbrella though

And yes, it would still hold, the restraint.

Well, that explains a lot. Thanks ^^
