Now before you go calling me a troll or a kabuto fanboy listen up- this isn't character bashing. Itachi Uchiha might be my least favourite character in the Naruto series but I want to talk about this maturely and factually
You can go on about his OP techniques and the still hard-to-believe Itachi good guy plot twist (which still seems a little far-fetched) but I have only one real gripe with the Itachi character. He doesn't seem real.
I can never emotionally attach with Itachi because he does not resemble a human. I respect what he did for his village to prevent war but i'm not emotionally on his side because Itachi does not seem to have a personality, Kishimoto's portrayal of him is so perfect, omniscient and righteous that there's barely a character underneath it all in my opinion. He's just a walking plot device spouting wisdom.
The problem is that Itachi has never really been shown a weakness. He has never been in trouble and he always seems to be in control. We've been told he has stamina issues but then we've never really seen that exploited so we just have to take Kishi's word on that. He has powers that literally gurantee him victory and if he can't win Kishimoto will literally invent a new jutsu that lets him take control of the situation. The fact that he seems to be physically and morally flawless means that he just seems like a plank of wood to me, I don't mean disrespect but remember when Tobi was talking to Sasuke about him? Just a passing comment, something like "would've been nasty if we'd clashed. But I could've probably taken him" in that cave and I think i'd like his character a hell of a lot more.

In my opinion characters and people for that matter need weaknesses, they need flaws and they just need to be subject to defeat sometimes- it makes them more real and relatable. Kishimoto instead writes Itachi as a flawless, beacon of hope idol, making him out to be some sort of god when he is not, because for character design and 'being a badass' yeah that's fine but for a character who's gone through so many hardships and is so intelligent, I feel there should be something more to his character.
I just wish at least once, Kishimoto had written the tiniest little hint that Itachi may not be immortal and somebody other than himself was able to kill him. Just once. And this is why i've never really understood the appeal of Itachi. Because...(ugh) Itachi DOES solo.
This was not meant as any disrespect to Itachi fans, I just want to know if anyone agrees or disagrees?
