It was really clever of you to use those Tsunade and Lee examples. I think that's a first. Nice move...
What a lot don't seem to understand is, Kishi's portrayal of Itachi is partly the reason he has a lot of overzealous fans. Be honest, would Kishi really have not given Itachi some jutsu to defeat DSM Kabuto even if Itachi wasn't edo? You may say obviously because of plot, but understand Itachi is one of the few characters who never seems stressed about situation and always has a counter. He knew the counter to Edo was genjutsu when Obito had to ask, he knew about Ryuuchido, he one shotted Oro twice (whom Kishi was well aware of the position he gave Oro). And even though Itachi had help defeating Nagato, did Kishi really had to end it so fast? He had Itachi do away with him rather quickly.. Kishi even goes on to give Itachi the wisdom of a Hokage at the age of 7.
The discrepancies arise when we try to bring portrayal into a VS match, which consist of 'facts'. However, it doesn't make his depiction any less factual. Kishi's views are absolute. And the nature of VS matches lacks the element of Kishi's views. They are inherently ignorant. They aren't fully 'factual'. Its existence is only so because it discards Kishi's perspectives (obviously since Kishi's perspectives may be ambiguous). Which is why I don't get all worked up about them.
The purpose of VS matches is to bring the abilities SHOWN (while scrapping everything else) and have characters square off against one another. It's a world created by the fans.
