sasori lost to sakura and chiyo only because chiyo was the only person in the world who could read through his attacks and sakura being tsunade's apprentice was the only one besides tsunade who could have the antidote for that poison
so if Itachi gets poisoned end of fight!
also Sasori beat 3rd Kazekage who was told been the greatest of all kazekages so still think Sasori is weakest in akatsuki?
He can easily stay long range way from Itachi and use his 100 puppet tech to fight him. Susano'o won't last forever and since sasori is puppet not a human then tsukuyomi can't put a stress on a puppet body
I'd say they both have a chance of winning

Hiruko would be an easy trip for itachi, 100 puppets would be easy for susanoo, but 3rd kazekage would be the problem =/~sasori(puppet) himself is blockable by yata mirror
if itachi is able to keep susanoo up to last all 100 puppets, 3rd kazekage and sasori..... Itachi for the win
I doubt itachi can burn down all those puppets.... but his key to victory is susanoo in this battle, if he cannot keep susanoo active.....then sasori for the win..

its funny that everyone that picked itachi dont realise that its a bad match up for him. lol
sasori cant be affected by genjutsu since he dont have any of the 5 senses and a nervous system to be affected. so there goes the genjutsu aspect.
sasori doesnt have muscle or a muscular system, so itachi cannot use the sharingan to predict his moves like sasuke did naruto.
sasori can switch puppet bodys and has infinite stamina in a sense, so he never tires.
he can fight you with a hundred puppets, poison the air around you, poison everything he has. and with one scratch or inhale of the poison your done for. period!
with the 3rd kazekage puppet he could use the sand to protect him from all moves itachi does. like gaara
amateratsu will be a big waste considering he would just switch puppet bodies. so that would waste itachis chakra plus itachi is sick so keep in mind that.

all in all i say it could got sasoris way if itachi can last (which he probably cant since he's sick.). and sasori also had 298 pupets im sure he had many more powerful ones just didnt bother using them. so ima have to go with sasori, but it really can go either way...

i bet you a 100$ that Itachi would have cut most of the chakra string and cast amaretsu and burn down everything.

i said its anyones battle but sasori has the upper hand in the stamina and chakra department in my opinion.

I'm a big Sasori fan but I'll still say that Itachi will win. It won't be a squash match as everyone here are saying here though as the battle will only depend on proper use of Susanoo and Amaterasu. That's the only battle option that Itachi can beat Sasori with.
Sasori is really strong and also, Sasori will play it into semi-defensive mode until chakra of Itachi is used up in order to attain a possible victory much like Danzo's strategy did with Sasuke. Sasori's force resides in his defense and he might surprise Itachi but I'll stick with Itachi for now.
