Anyone who says 'Pain hands down' or sth is retarded. There's no proof shinra tensei can beat ametarasu. Even if it could, if Pain has one weakness, its genjutsu( remember the toads wid jiraiya, anyone?). Tsukiyomi on the God realm, then susanoo to beat the one that absorbs ninjutsu(don't remember the japanese names) and ametarasu right up on the one that ressurects other paths and as long as itachi can keep them separated this is all very possible and its bye bye 6 paths. To figure out the truth that Nagato is the 7th pain is easy because itachi would know the difference between a tsukiyomi on a live person and a corpse(remember in the anime when itachi knows its kakashi's shadow clone during the rescue kazekage arc?).

itachi is strong, real strong. but pain?, he's a beast. no a god. enough said. pain has the best possible counters for all of itachi's techs. but what does itachi have agianst pain? nothing on him. it's a about time that all itachi and sharingan fans get into their head that he or it is not ultimate power that pawns everything. pain against itachi? ha don't make me laugh. this is a man whoa could single handedly destrey a whole village and this is not your average sized village. this is one of the strongest five village of narutoverse. itachi is strong against some charasters and can also compete with some very strong characters. but against pain?, that's totally different mangekyou genjutsu, amaterasu, susano'o, sword of totsuka and yatta's mirror will all be ineffective against pain.

Don't be stupid. The others ignored the fact that pain got trapped in the frog genjutsu, read them yourself, the rain argument is bs and not supported by the manga. Don't get all butthurt cuz i say itachi wins,lol.
The one who made this post is in great need of education and manners so that he didn't come across as the retarded one to rest of the board..
If Yamato can fend off ametsrasu with his earth moving jutsu , Nagato's level is too high. Raikage can break through Susano , then you don't want Ngato to see doing that and you certainly don't want a single chakra rod in Itachi.
Yah we remember the toads with Jiraiya. You seem to have missed toads with Naruto, when genjutsu had no effect. You have missed a load of other facts as well.
And please don't mix the anime in manga when debating the manga.

*yawns* Don't know which manga you read, pal. But lemme disprove you real quick:
1. Sasuke's ms powers were a fraction of itachi's. Why? Because itachi gave some of his power to naruto and was half dead when he gave his brother his powers.
2. Sasuke's susanoo did not have yata's mirror.
3. The one who made^^ post is in need of english classes. Its does'nt, not did'nt, idiot.
4. So basically, you fail.
P.S: You still have'nt given ANY proof from the manga that pain is immune to genjutsu.

Nobody ignored that fact- we also noticed that pain recognised it was a genjutsu and though surprised had summonned the other three pains before it took effect. And second time he simply told toads that it wouldn't work on him, again.
Rain argument not supported by manga? you mean the rain which had immediately detected jiraiya's entry in the village as soon as he had left toads belly? Did you miss a few chapters or something?

Detecting someone's presence is not the same as stopping genjutsu, how old are you, 7?
The only reasons the other pain's were up on their feet was because they were resurrected. Show me a link to anywhere in the manga which says or suggests that Pain can overcome genjutsu. The reason the toads did'nt try it again is because that toad song takes time, unlike tsukiyomi.

1. Susanoo with yata's mirror is impenetrable, when was itachi's susanoo shown to be penetrated?
2. That's probably the only valid point. Yes, itachi has stamina issues, but like i said, if all 6 pains are up front like against naruto and itachi tsukiyomi's the God realm, the other 5 won't take him much time. Also, if a pain corpse can summon animals then he CAN get sealed by the totsuka blade as well(because it shows the pains have some sentience). That weapon seals you into an eternal world of genjutsu.\

Which part of my post said that detecting presence of someone is same as stopping genjutsu? Either you are being deliberately obtuse or you truly are.
Show me a link where Itachi used genjutsu on six people at the same time.
Nagato himself was expert in all six jutsu and could manipulate all elements. Show me a place in the manga where Itachi can still use his genjutsu after being peierced with nagato's chakra rod.
The fact remains that we see Madara lusting after rinnegan like Oro lusted after Sharingan. Nagato didn't care about Sharingan. And Nagato had speed. Manga says rinnegan is the most powerfull of the three eye techniques.

No. I never implied that. That's your wishfull thinking.
And you think that he could do it all together and Nagato will wait it out. I said that all he needs is the sever his connection with the body for a while. Question is can you keep a dead body under genjutsu? Jiraiya thought the body was dead- it was. and it was up again. It was animated alright but, after all you are talking about using genjutsu on a dead body.

Except Madara, Pain was obviously the strongest Akatsuki member. If Itachi (healthy) fought him, he would be able to destroy couple of bodies (around four, I think), but he would lost. Pain was fu**ing war machine, that could own village by hiself. With three bodies (without the strongest one) he was able to push Jiraiya in HM to his limits. True, Jiraiya maneged to trap them in illusion, but battleground was huge advantage to him, he had many places he could hide. If battle took place on more neutral ground, he could not have been so lucky. Also Deva path by hiself was powerful enough to own Naruto in SM and all frogs within... one chapter? Itachi was also very, very strong (shinobi above sannins level), but not as Pain.

So Itachi can easily cast enough amaterasu to burn 4-5/6 bodies while he stays in susano'o or runs to avoid being damaged.
