i agree that gaara can possibly beat itachi in terrain advantage but otherwise gaar isn on itachi's league.

That was blaze release not amatirasu. It controls preexisting flames thus making it allot easier to block since they are not as fast.

Has Itachi been portrayed as as strong as Jiraiya? Id say so. But it defies all logic that he would be.
I mean orochimaru has been portrayed as the strongest of the sennin in my opinion.
and Kishi seems to try to distance Itachi from orchimaru in terms of power.

I would agree Itachi is probably overrated and probably has the biggest fan base of all characters (just look at all the avatars and sigs) but I personally don't have a problem with it because Itachi is so powerful that he IS in a league (or right under) from all the "big boys"

Who's underratting Itachi here, He's one of d strongest ninja in Naruto. He was d only Akatsuki that Tobi was afraid of and couldn't control. Tobi's 2nd reason for going for d Rinnegan was to control him. He could've beat Sasuke but just let him. Besides he has d heart that can make a shinobi really strong. Give him a Rinnegan and he'll beat Madara.

totally agree with you on the first part, nagato is overhyped by fans when they say he can beat hashirama or madara, they forget that hashi supposedly beat madara and madara was someone who also wielded rinnegan and was better at using it than nagato.

but on the other side naruto didnt destroy nagato, people forget that nagato was trying to capture not kill him, plus with all the info naruto had on him nagato had many an opportunity to kill naruto, like when he had him pinned to the ground, not to mention naruto was saved by hinataandto b honest sage mode did crap against deva path plus naruto went up against 5 pains not 6 because konohamaru somehow killed one.

Don't blame his fans blame Kishi. Look how many powerful people in the manga keeps giving Itachi props. From Nagato,Kabuto,Kakashi,Tobi,Orochimaru...ect. Itachi was portrayed in the manga as a legendary figure. Kishi basically portrayed Itachi as a highly skilled and almost unbeatable character. Not for his strength exactly but his battle IQ combined. Look how Kishi made Itachi ever since he was revived. He was calm the entire time even in really bad situations. So you really shouldn't get mad if fans do overrate him. The fact is that we will NEVER see his true potential because Kishi portrayed him that.

hashirama beat madara,someone who has rinnegan, so he would beat nagtao. madara and nagato both have rinnegan so that cancels out but madara still has perfect susanoo, amaterasu and his beastmeteorit technique, so madara would also defeat nagato, not to mention that they both have tremendous battle experience compare to nagato.

how did he destroy the leaf more than help it, he was ordered by the leaf to take any means necessary against the uchiha by destroying his can he was protecting the village, also if you call them the leafs strongest clan than you just proved that he could take nagato, plushe never killed any leaf jonin unless he couldnt forcethem to walk away

hes a strong ninja idk wat ur talking about, kishi didnt have him fight strong ninja because everyone seems to keep forgetting that itachi was dieing the only reason he was able to fight sasuke was that he was talking drugs to stay alive. the whole point of keeping itachi alive was so that sasuke could kill him and revenge the uchiha name. he never torutred sasuke he was doing wat he thought was right in making sasuke stronger, i mean how else was he supposed to get sasuke angry enought to want to kill him. itachi never tried to fight sasuke, when they were younger itachi toyed with him saying that he still wasnt strong enough and he only put him under tsukoyomi to see if he was strong enough to break free. he didnt abuse his oracular powers thats just what happesn when people use mangekyo, their vision decreases everytime its used. look at sasuke whose vison was getting bad but he didnt use mangekyo as much as itachi.

People do overestimate him, but theres also ones who underestimate him.

And for the ones who are saying Itachi failed to kill Tobi, Oro, and Edo Madara that was plot no jutsu. If Tobi died manga ends, if Oro wouldn't come back this may have been the final arch Oro's return gives hope for another arch for Naruto (and I'm sure if Sasuke knew Oro was a live Itachi knew also, Itachi goal was to get Oro out of Sasuke, which had been done) and Edo Madara is by far the most entertaining character ATM.

Oro can have a showdown with Sasuke, or escape and lead to another arch after this war leaving a few other things unknown.

As far as I know Itachi has never been in a serious battle. Itachi VS Sasuke already told countless time that Itachi let Sasuke win.

i am an itachi fan but i dont make him out to be this god level person, i do believe you are downplayng him though. itachi is just a hair under jiraya sage mode. but he has probably the quickest wit wich is 60% percent of his power.
