Itachi defeated orochimaroo every time and that is what counts, heck he defeated orochimaroo(a legendary sanin) when he was just 13! , and seeing itachi is never shown in a mood of destruction or in a serious fight we havent really seen what he is capable of, but i think he can defeat likes of legendary sanins or kages easy-med difficulty and nagato(having hard time ofcourse), seeing his power and abilities i think he can give edo-madara a hard time too but will lose to edo-madara. He is shown to be very intelligent and very powerfull. Also he wasnt happy to kill his clan so its understandable he took them in overnight by tobis help.

He is good, don't get me wrong, but overhyped by fans.

No. His armor blocked sadukes Amaterasu and honestly, from what I've seen, it is not nearly as strong as itachis. It takes minutes to burn through samurai armor? Really? Itachi broke out of the giant toads belly with Amaterasu in couple of seconds, a task thought to be impossible by jiraiya. So I ve come to believe that itachis Amaterasu is far superior to sasukes.
