Is Naruto really stupid?

How can you say a character is not really stupid because it's only comic relief/because it's shonen??? That makes no sense, stupid is stupid, especially that moron luffy, everyone one that knows one piece knows how stupid Luffy is.

I'm not saying Naruto is stupid all the time because he has his clever moments but he's been portrayed as an idiot and that will never change.

Get a grip, Naruto is not stupid, It's just a shonen thing to have a goofy Main character who acts out of pure whim and recklessness. He acts "stupid" so others don't feel sorry for him, specially when he was younger. His "stupidity" was always a self defense mechanism that he developed over the years of growing up alone. Now that hes older, kishimoto has made it clear that hes gotten more wiser, smarter and older but he still retains his old habits and actions as he represents the Shonen main character criteria.

He does act stupid at times, but Hes not stupid. there's nothing to discuss here, stop arguing for the sake of argument.

Naruto's grand intellectual capacity is no bigger than his head. The manga has depicted it far too many times for it to be ignored.

It's a shonen thing. The main character is often silly, goofy and acts dumb, but they certainly not.

(luffy, natsu, Naruto) That's it.

There's a big difference between them, Luffy is all dumbness, but Natsu and Naruto have their clever moments.

He's stupid and you're being ridiculous. You're the one that started disputing it.

Naruto is dense and doesn't wait to analyze things unless he's in a fight. Bunshins and prior knowledge is his tools he uses to compete with geniuses in fights.

Outside of a fight, you can walk circles around him in knowledge, just don't speak about morals or values, because he'd school your ass in it.
