Isn't this whole cutting the lightning thing just a mythology reference? Which Kishi made tons of?
I don't think so. Kirin is consisted of multiple lightning bolts put together and it's simply too damn big to cut.
I'm pretty sure Kakashi could tank Kirin. Kirin barely defeated an injured Itachi by the end of the battle, and Itachi was already sick, not to mention Kakashi gone toe to toe with a weakened Itachi (even if he wasn't really going 100%). Itachi was still standing when he got hit, too. Kirin isn't as strong as it's made out to be, but it's fast, so dodging or warping is out of the question. Cutting it is too.
He already cut lightning before... Is Sasuke's lightning faster than normal lightning? Even though he's just controlling where it goes, not the speed or strength.
Sometimes the databook does say things that don't correlate with the manga, however this entry is supported by the manga. Which is why I believe it...
No for two reasons. First, Kirin takes the lightning of an entire thunderstorm, gives it a form and is controlled. Kakashi "allegedly" cut a single random lightning bolt. Second, Kakashi never cut lightning. He couldn't physically react to Sasuke's Susano'o arrow, yet he could move fast enough to cut lightning? Unless Sasuke's arrow is faster than lightning.
Why cut it? Sasuke uses Chidori to control it so Kakashi just copies him and do the same thing or send the Kirin at Sasuke haha

I don't understand how he couldn't physically react to them when he clearly activated his MS sharingan and warped two arrows.
If he couldn't react to it then, he'd probably be dead.
