Is it wrong to protest against a homeless shelter?

SO now my sisters cant walk to the corner without protection. Sorry no one wants that. Its a safe neighborhood and no one wants that to change. This center will definitely change that and you know it.

Those people can be put anywhere as long as its a shelter, why bring them to a nice community with so many families around? That is stupid.
Lmfao, you said you don't want them walking there, so take some god damn intiative and protect them, you don't have to walk with them, but you act like they're going to get shot walking on the sidewalk to an ice cream parlor ir some shit, grow the hell up. People want to better their lives and you're possibly ruining their chance. The ones who seem like the bad people here, are you and your stuck up community.

Please. Now we are a stuck up community because we want to be safe? These guys are drug addicts and criminals, they will bring their 'friends' for visits and shit. So yeah I may get shot and I dont want that.

NOT ALL THOSE PEOPLE WANT HELP. What about the ones who dont want the help and are going to cause trouble? What then?

If they don't want help, why the hell would they go to the rehab center?
They can be obligated by court sentence.
I somewhat understand what you mean, not wanting homeless right nearby. Then again I never had this type of experience, but you do have the right to protest. I still think a homeless shelter is good, but maybe not right in a community-maybe off a little from it Zzz
Homeless people can be anywhere.

In the past 2 years I lived in a rather elite area of my city, and some homeless people moved in the subway nearby, for the winter. I had to pass them every day- they always greeted me, and me, along with other people, took them food sometimes. They were not bad people. Actually, even people who have jobs may end up staying in a homeless shelter. I read many advertisements lately, people are looking for rent: they have a job, but suddenly they have to leave their rent for some reason. They become homeless from in few days if they can't find a new rent.

Some people also go to homeless shelters at winter if they can't pay for the gas to heat in their own homes.

You know what's also stupid? To label and segregate them.

I can't say it wouldn't be uncommon for it to happen or not.
However this turns into a thread stating.

"Do we throw this burden onto someone else, or not"
Idk, the answer to that .
But that's how I see this thread atm .

If they don't want help, then why go? Do you know what your community sounds like? You guys sound like a middle-class group of white people, scared because you heard black people were going to be moving down the street. Now, you're scared it'll go haywire, and the kids won't be safe, so you protest to make them leave. That's what you sound like, even criminals and drug addicts have hearts too, they deserve a second to chance, and you're denying it, which you have NO right to do. Back the hell up and let them live their lives.

Because no community lacks families?
Your basically saying "Put them in another location where I won't have to deal with this"
Yes you could place them in a poorer community, but then what will you achieve with that exactly?

theOP dosen't want a change that can make it harder for them

nobody wants a change that makes it harder for them

doesn't make it right buts its human nature lol

honestly this is a tough situation

if OP ends up right...it doesn't solve anything it makes things worse...but if he's wrong about it...it can still cause tention between the neighborhood and shelter which can cause problems by itself

considering thier protesting it now..imagine how they will discriminate them later

you kinda get an uchiha clan like affect happening

moving them to a poor location doesn't solving anything either

Yeah, those were my thoughts too.
As to why I see this thread as "Keep the burden or throw it onto someone else"
I believe the entire question arose from moral, amiright?

Well its not that. Its a working class community of all races, and the community doesnt want it. People move to this community to get away from that stuff. They will be forced to go, they will be forced to live there for rehab and if they are going to cause trouble guess who gets the shit end? The whole community.

You're over exaggerating and you know it. You act like there's about to be shootouts infront of the rehab center, there will most likely be guards to prevent that stuff. Plus, not all participants will be forced, some want better lives, to get better, to change themself so they can be there for their child or family. The location might be ideal, and the only one that works, but protesting and getting it taken away, screws with that, therefore many can't get the help they need. Who are YOU to deny their right to get better for their children and family? They have lives too, and taking what little star of hope they have can completely destroy that, so before you try and protest and think of all these unlikely situations, PUT YOURSELF IN THEIR SHOES, and think, and I mean REALLY think. Until then, leave them be.

@Bold, any community gets the shit end.
What you just said is that the community is a sanctuary where there's basically extremely small amounts or no crime at all.
As well as with that if the shelter comes to the community it screws up the reason why everyone came there.

-To be safer. To feel relieved. To not have to worry about those kinds of things.

But you made an error here, if they actually are shit-f*ck crazy and you leave them in any other community that you would elect(which would be one already broken.)

You've just added more criminals to a criminal hotspotLol
"But what about my sisters"
MMMmm, what about the mass of people/children known to be produced from poorer communities?
If you ask me, your saying throw them into a place it wouldn't really affect, which it actually would.

Adding more drugheads to a bad environment only makes it harder for anyone to escape that environment. Especially when they even lack proper education to avoid the shit in the first place, which you actually have access to.

the reason why OP IS concerned is beacause what he is afraid has happened before...it stated to alittle in my neighborhood but the people i guest moved out

as i said even if they go their it would be an uchiha clan affect happening...and that causes problems

especially since they have a legit reason to be that way

people lack understanding of one another.. its the same principal in naruto

we all have done it at some point

tbr this is a ****ed up situation

What about those who do want help? Should their chance be taken away because of the few who don't?

That doesn't mean it needs to be that way.

This community is basically saying "We don't want to deal with this center, we want to be someone else's burden, we don't care that lives will be improved because of it."

They're not going to be in your backyard. You don't seem to realize that you don't need to make direct contact with these people.

How exactly wouldnt that happen? They arent going to be locked up in the center. They have the ability to roam free all over the neighborhood. I will see them everyday.
