Is it ever right to take a life?

Hey guys and girls I just wanted you to please help me out on these issues that affect our world whether it be directly or indirectly. So basically, I know of a number of issues which all link to the same thing and that is related to death. U_U I wonna know whether it is right to take a life or not and this is obviously debatable. I personally think that it is right to take a life in some cases but in some cases it is also not aloud. :shrug: But anyway, as for the issues they are:

Killing animals for food--Well, you can always be a vegetarian but I am not against killing animals for food. After all animals do that to to each other Torturing animals in the process though...well I am obviously against that.
Killing animals for medical purposes--As long as they are not tortured too much I am OK. But I know this is not the case and can't be the case most of the times. If it is for the greater good though, well maybe that sacrifice has to be tolerated.
People dying in War -- If there is a war, then it's better to kill your opponent than letting him kill you. War is wrong, killing people in it is not.
Getting an Abortion -- If it serves the pregnant woman's health then of course it is acceptable. If it's some case of rape or anything again. Generally even if she changes her mind I have not such a big problem with that. After all it's just a fetus by that time.
Assisted Suicide/Euthanasia -- If the patient asks for it, then I am for it because it ends their suffering. It is against the oath the doctors give though. But who cares about doctors they are not even scientists (sorry for that it what engineers say so I couldn't help it )
Death Penalty -- I am against it . Why do the criminal such a favor? No no, let them rot in prison.
Self-Defence -- Well one just can't help that. And it wouldn't even be your fault. If you can wound the attacker though, then you should prefer that.
Suicide-- In my opinion if you are not mentally unstable and you commit suicide then you are a coward. If you are mentally unstable then it's not your fault, it's the others' that should pay more attention and give you some help by an expert.

About the first one, what if you add something from a medical perspective like the food or meat can contain bacteria or parasites which you may not know of that may cause problems and maybe even diseases. An example is with killing and eating pig. Some say that they are one of the causes for being infected with tapeworms and such.

The second one there is a bit of a problem because not everytime the medicines tested on animals are effective on humans. Some say that over 45% of the medicines that have been tested on animals which are considered to be safe cause defects in human babies. You will also find that those who believe strongly in the Evolution theory will be against testing or killing animals. I agree with your view on killing in War.

As for Abortion, some will say that life is sacred, although a fetus may not be fully-formed it is still able to feel pain in the second trimester, they also say abortion is murder because only God is able to take away a life while others will say that it should be ok because the mother of the child has been raped and stuff like that.

Death Penatly... I support it only if the prison isn't enough like if the criminal has already had a trip behind bars, but if he commits crime again he should be tortured or given a death penalty. Also, if the criminal has committed a murder and there isn't sufficient proof that it was accidental, then it's only fair that he gets the Death Penalty.

Self-Defence - A sane person would always try not to kill anyone. If worst situation, such as battle to the death like Hashirama and Madara's, someone will die. I agree with you about Suicide as well.

If you kill someone for justice (Valid reason!) i suppose its fine. For any other reason its bad

Abortion is murder, so that's never okay unless under extreme circumstances. The only other thing on the list I wouldn't be happy about is killing animals for medical purposes, however, under certain conditions it's a necessary evil. Killing animals for sport is something I don't like though, for food is perfectly fine with me.

The only time I can think of that I would personally kill someone is if my life is threatened or the life of someone else. The offender will come to an abrupt end, let me assure you. I will also execute someone who just killed another person, their life expectancy just dropped to zero, and I can be somewhat of a vigilante at times. Crossing that line with me is basically a decision to commit suicide, which I'm cool with, I don't even charge for it. ^_^

Well, animals kill each other for food all the time. I'm not so sure that we're somehow 'above' that process.

Ideally, we could move away from this. Realistically, it's still necessary.

People dying in War

War isn't "right" - but, when people (for whatever reasons they may have) decide to pose a threat to your way of living and you're resolved to defend that way - it's not at all wrong to take up the defense of your lifestyle.

Getting an Abortion

This is not a pretty one. It is not 'right' ... but by that same token, it's not right to force motherhood, either. Particularly in a world where we already have single-parenthood rapidly becoming the average.

Assisted Suicide/Euthanasia

Kind of depends. If a kid walks up to me and says: "I hate life, I don't want to live, kill me" - I'm not gong to. If someone is 90 years old and is being kept alive by medications and machines - then I find it horribly selfish for me to then say: "No, you live to the limits of technological reanimation." So - I have no issue with those cases.

By that same token, all of those cases should be reviewed to see if the person would be able to benefit from counseling as opposed to simply euthanized. Is it merely their perception that life sucks... or are they really being dragged along through life?

Death Penalty

People who cannot function in our society have no place in it and should not be forced to live while simultaneously having their freedom taken away in a penitentiary. Exile and execution are the only logical methods for dealing with those who cannot function in society. Spending money to keep people, who we have deemed necessary to deny them of freedom, alive is ridiculous. There are some pretty easy rules to follow - don't kill people, don't steel, do not force actions on others (rape and the like)... not that difficult. If someone cannot figure out how to live according to those rules, then they have no business being here. If no one else wants to take them or we cannot figure out what wasteland to drop them off in - they do not need to be alive.

Self-Defence

Well, if you aren't resolved to killing people who have, apparently, been able to find the resolve to kill you... then whether or not you believe it wrong will quickly become a historical discussion. Any population deciding that self-defense is wrong will quickly become an extinct one.

Suicide

Generally, suicide is not right. While I may believe all incidents of suicide among the non-elderly are unjustified - I also am not able to make the choice to continue living for another person. I may believe there is still much for them to live for - but if they cannot see that and no one can show them ... then it's an unfortunate event traumatic for those close, but, again... you can't force someone to live.
