I'm married and can tell you it has it's ups and downs. When you first get married it's exciting and fun. Then after the honeymoon year you will be thinking constantly "I just made the biggest mistake of my life. I just made the biggest mistake of my life. I just made the biggest mistake of my life". Later on though that subsides and you don't think that constantly. It's more like "I just made the biggest mistake of my life. I think I'll have tacos tonight. Unlike what society tells you to do, we didn't live with each other beforehand, and that was an amazingly smart. I have lived with girlfriends before and it always turned out to be a disaster.

I think the main problem today it that divorce is even an option in peoples eyes. Me and my wife said long before I proposed that the word will never been in our vocabulary. Its for life and meant to be that way.

All that being said, if you fall in love, make sure it the type that punches you so hard its unlike anything you have ever felt before.

Lastly, you don't get married for what that person can do for you, you should get married because of what you want to do for that person.

Hell yea I hate seeing ppl divorce after 6 mths of marriage but it sux wen ur spouse don't support your dreams. I'll keep this concise. I wouldn't take much credence to any of us on NB. This is a decision you and your significant other have to make. It's not a purely emotional or logical choice. Do you two have the same worldview, values, where are you going to live. thoughts on family, retirement? There are a lot of factors to take into consideration. Being married is one of the most rewarding and challenging decisions one can make (second only to having children I suppose). Don't rush into anything. Pre-marital counseling is always recommended. I can recommend some good marriage counseling books as well if you message me.

South Africa my ass! I happen to be a South African, and let me tell ya, this place is full of hoes! Fact of the matter, the whole world is full of hoes. Chances of finding and honest and faithful woman are like, 5 % at best, and even then, out of that 5%, 2.5 are 'former' hoes, so it's hard to trust them when they been with 40-60 men before they met you.

People are afraid of commitments because they dont want to take the consequences. If you dont trust that your partner will be loyal, maybe you didnt choose the right person. Sure you can have a successful relationship without marriage, but then marriage shouldnt be a problem either. If you want your money safe, you can make a contract beforehand in case of divorce. But divorce shouldnt really be an option. Of course you cant plan an ideal life 20-30 yrs in advance, but you can always solve things together. Too bad that people nowadays just move on when they are not willing for compromises, hoping that the next relationship will be better. There are exceptions though.
