The police officers all realized something was up with Itachi. They came and even accused him. You think Fugaku didn't realize as well? His personality changes after joining anbu. The clan asks shishui to spy on him. He ends up dead. He becomes distant. to the point that he's completely ignoring his fathers prescence.. He lashes out at uchiha officers, and yells at them to change their prideful ways. Stating that there mentality will be the end of the clan, Then throws a kunai in the heart of the Uchiha symbol.

It most likely was that his father and mother let him choose his own path. They didn't fight back. they let it happen

I thought all of this was pretty obvious. Itachi stabbing the Uchiha crest with the Kunai was a clear metaphor for his desire to end the clan. It was his answer to the coup.

While I would rather be a senju clan member, as of now, the Uchiha seem to be smarter and stronger (two Jubi Jinchuriki will do that for ya).

The Senju clan has top notch intelligent members like Tobirama and Tsunade. But the Uchiha have Itachi, Madara, Obito, etc.

When it comes to battle both are more or less equal and in general we have more intelligent people such as Itachi,Madara,Izuna and Sasuke from Uchiha clan.It isn't wise to say that Uchiha are better as we barely know anything about Senju but as of now Uchiha's takes the cake.Tobirama is the only Senju that puts Uchiha clan members into shame when it comes to intelligence department.

1. Do you need intelegence to know you need to make money to support your family? No.

Hashirama simply didn't become the leader of the senju because "ninjutsu" genius.. .....he became the leader because of his wisdome/clear headed/ideas and power. which was also earned through intellect. However, Tobirama yes is more intellectual in scientific stuff and so on. And in fact he is the "ninjutsu" genius.

i would say senju because their power comes from a wide variety of all three specialty, while uchihas get thier power ups just from their eye's overtime.

Well while Naruto is not senju, he's Uzumaki. Uzumaki's as we know are relatives of senju. And Naruto in particular has been accepted as part of the senju in a way. He's seen by Tobi and the great lord elder toad as the one to continue the fight between Senju and Uchiha along with Sasuke.
The sage of six paths also sees him that way.
And to use your word, Naruto is literraly the reincarnation of the forefather of the freaking senju.

I guess since no name was ever given though, the toad prophecy could refer to Obito, Nagato, Itachi or Madara but is more likely to be Sasuke.
