Yeah but also because you bombed another country with nuclear weapons without any real reason at that point. I don't want to hate or something. I like the USA but when it comes to this...

That reason was WW2, sir. Although I personally don't agree with the selection of civilian cities. That's where I disapprove of our past moves.

In a standoff, the first to put the gun down gets shot.

Unless the other person has no intentions of shooting. Again, back then we would've shot. We did before. That's why you wait for tensions to lower before putting your gun down. That is when peace can start, otherwise you're still at gunpoint.

I'm sorry, but last I checked we were talking about a hypothetical WW3, which would've been unrelated to those two. Did nukes keep us from war? Yes, but they're not peace keepers. As I said, it's like holding guns at each other to keep us from shooting. We just have to put our guns down. Back then we couldn't do that. Today we're managing it gradually.

I agree with you but human nature means that one person always wants to be better than the next. That is why Communism didn't work in a large, powerful country. No country would want get rid of their nuclear weapons because they will not trust the other countries. The lack of honesty and desire to be better than others (and not to fall behind others) puts us in this predicament.

Cold war was ideology based indeed, but without nukes, it would have quickly erupted to full scale war.
Yes I agree, but trap Lord is saying that it was primarily the reason why WW3 would happen.

Btw, today's society know's the true devastation of the nukes. Before people had no clue, even when Japan was nuked, the NA governments had strictly censored any information about how much the nukes could damage. People were taught to duck under their tables lel. So we in the present society know the devestation, but most to 90% of the people in the Cold War didn't. The scare of Nukes only prevented WW3 from happening on a very small scale.

Unfortunately that is true. It's pretty much impossible to get rid of all nukes at this day and age. I'm not in the mind of my commander-in-chief, but hopefully he doesn't want to make nukes an option. There's really no need for them. We're not at gunpoint with Russia anymore, at least not like we were back then. Back then was much worse.

Sad, but true. Can even Lelouch save this world? Can Kira? Lmao...

There is no true answer to world peace because of human nature and the inability for everybody to discipline it. Every route leads to people fighting over things - even in times of peace, we still have crimes. Even if a Messiah, somebody who had the answer, came to Earth, how can he change the world? Threaten them with divine judgement? That would be the same as the current nuke situation. Somehow trick every country into being pally with each other? There will be many that disagree and crime will still be active.

It somewhat makes sense as the fear of Nuclear war prevents mass war breaking out, but to say that most of us would be dead is a complete stretch.

It's true, a full scale nuclear war could signal the end for the human race and most, if not all life. A large amount of the human population would be killed outright and then the leftovers of the human race would be killed off by the unprecedented levels of fallout.

It's important to note that atomic bombs are vastly more powerful and intense compared to the ones used during the Nagasaki/Hiroshima bombings. We're talking over 2000x more powerful than Little Boy and Fat Man.
