Sasuke was superior in the beginning, yes. But in the war arc they were clearly shown as equals. Much like Ashura and Indra. Ashura was no good in the beginning, but over time he reached the same power as his brother, and they became equals.

this. It's not that hard to grasp this, kishi basically wrote it out in crayon.

Well Sasuke can't beat Naruto because of the themes of Naruto becoming stronger. However Naruto can't beat Sasuke because of the themes of breaking the cycle of hatred. What will Kishi do?

Alright but like I stated above: is the best that Naruto can ever hope for is to become equal to Sasuke? All those fights, training sessions, deaths of friends, all of that just to be equal?

I would actually like to see Naruto beat Sasuke without Kurama doing all the work, but that'll never happened. So I wouldn't be surprised if Naruto lost again, kishi already told us Naruto was a loser last chapter.

Naruto will lose to Sasuke one more time, then in the end Sasuke will let him win.

True but it wont happen tho.

It's definitely a possibility though. Not in a sense that Naruto won't surpass Sasuke in a fight but to drive home the point that there are just some things that Naruto can't do. Is he always supposed to come out on top in the end? No, that was the point of the VOTE fight. The same might happen here. Depending on what happens prior to the fight could depict on whether we can predict a winner or not. A winner is not predictable right now if you ask me. Especially with the whole Ashura/Indra parallel going on right now. To say that Sasuke definitely won't win seems like a biased statement to me.

Oh and for the record, that VOTe fight was so plot driven; what was stopping Naruto from summoning Gabunta?

No to mention he purposely aimed away from sasuke during their final attack

Naruto will beat Sasuke in the end. Naruto will prove that peace through love > Peace through power.

I agree on your points that Naruto can't do everything by himself but that's only applicable to his previous loses. He didn't beat sasuke at the vote, he couldn't beat him at Orochimaru's hide out and he couldn't bring him back at the kage summit. Naruto has tried many times and has failed on numerous occasions. But this is the final fight of the series, this is where the main character succeeds and proves that Love > Hatred. Naruto losing is a complete contradiction to the entire theme of the manga. Why would Naruto lose in the end? This is complete delusion. Sasuke winning would only prove that hatred > love which isn't the theme of the manga.

1. Main character has to win/succeed in the end
2. Naruto must prove that Love > hatred
3. naruto must bring back sasuke to the village (foreshadowed)
4. naruto will bring peace

Ashura > Indra
hashirama > Madara
Naruto > Sasuke

it's the theme of the story.

I'd laugh like no tomorrow if Naruto lost, it wont happen, but just seeing the controversy would be a proper parting gift for me leaving NB.

Still, even if Naruto losses he wins, the point of the fight is to convert Sasuke, win, lose, or draw thats gonna happen, but a draw would suit my tastes better. Both of them swinging it out until they collapse from exhaustion, laughing at their inability to even stand.

@bold: Gotta agree with this. The point of the fight not even be for Naruto to win but finally accomplish the goal of having his friend on his side like he desired. Them fighting in the war is a temporary situation. Whether it is permanent or not has yet to be determined.

How would you feel if Naruto lost to Sasuke...again? Would you think that it is good writing when the main character can never hope to beat his rival even after years of failure?

I mean Sasuke won when they were in the academy, he won at VOTE and he won at Orochimaru's hideout. The difference in strength was absolutely pathetic after the timeskip as Sasuke beat Yamato, Naruto, Sai and Sakura all by himself.

Their record so far is 3-0 Sasuke I believe. Kishimoto always favoured Sasuke IMO and made him look cooler and gave him the best outfits and always brought his relevance to the front of the manga; like when Kakashi said that Naruto only gets stronger because of his desire to surpass Sasuke and that he wouldn't be this strong without Sasuke.

In the final battle even if Naruto and Sasuke tie it would just mean that the best that Naruto could ever hope for is to be equal to the "Great Uchiha".

So please vote in the poll and respond on how another Sasuke victory would look in your eyes.

He already has beaten Sasuke in a sense.
-Naruto beat him early on in the series when he managed to tie him up and pose as him. ;)
-Naruto proved he was stronger when he saved both Sasuke and Sakura from Gaara
-Naruto proved he was stronger back at the water tanks when Kakashi had to intervene
-Naruto proved he was the better person, when even while being stronger at those points, he didn't put Sasuke down and even told him that he considered him to be an equal.
-Naruto proved he was stronger than Sasuke when Zetsu flat out stated he was after Naruto saved the village from Pain.

At the academy, they were just kids and didn't know each other well. Naruto also hadn't received much formal training at that point. At VOTE, Naruto would have won, but he chose to change his aim and just go for Sasuke's headband instead of his chest in order to avoid killing him. Sasuke was ahead of them at the beginning of the timeskip, but you have to keep in mind that Naruto had still not healed completely from the pain that he had endured when fighting Oro and going 4tails at that encounter.

Kishimoto has said that his favorite character to draw is Sasuke, while the character he sees as himself the most is Naruto. Which one sounds better in your opinion? He did give Sasuke more outfits and he did have Kakashi state that Naruto gets stronger due to Sasuke. But Kishimoto has brought down Sasuke at some points to, he's had others state that he is nothing w/o the sharingan & only lucky to be strong through genetics& that he hasn't had to work as hard as others (lee and deidara said that) and I believe Kakashi also stated that being Naruto's rival causes him to grow too.

I don't think that it is truly possible for them to tie in their final fight. Naruto is taking it.

Ashura 'won' at the end as he was chosen to become the sage's successor.

OT: Naruto will win, if he didn't that might disapoint a little.

Ashura > Indra

See I'm not so sure on that either. Remember what Madara said, both the Sage's and Hashirama's method has failed. They thought that love was the way but even so, Hashirama could not provide peace even after getting rid of what seemed to be his greatest threat. If this was before Sasuke talked to Hashirama then I would agree with you but Sasuke's character has changed since then. He's no longer a person filled with hate so it wouldn't symbolize hate > love if he won.

While the parallel b/t Indra and Sasuke does it exist, IMO, it only applies to the aspect of how Naruto used to be a dunce while Sasuke was a genius. Sasuke used to believe that he could do everything on his own with his own power but we see him completely cooperating with Naruto and Jugo to solve the problem at hand. Even in Sasuke's dying words, he feels that he must live in order to show the world what a real Kage is, so that he can rectify the mistakes of the past Hokages and not let his brother's sacrifice be in vain. He wishes to become Hokage so that he can change the village for the better.

Sasuke no longer represents just hate, he's grown to be more than that so the theme of love > hate doesn't really fit anymore and love has been shown to fail to unite the world as well. Naruto and Sasuke will join forces to stop the cycle of hatred, it won't be one over the other to stop it. Not to mention that Ashura and Indra seemed to end in a draw so the parallel doesn't fit here for their battle anyway.

I'd also like to see sasuke win without using his sharingan. Danzo would have solo'd sasuke if he didnt spam susanoo.

Its possible, the problem is that Sasuke has yet to see Naruto as his equal -_- (pride)
Naruto beating Sasuke would be a nice blow to Sasuke's pride, but a tie, Sasuke finally seeing Naruto as an equal and cementing their relationship as brothers is a more favorable solution.

@ bold- He wants to kill all the bijuu, destroy the system and forceably become hokage, i think hes still thinking Power > love.

it's been forshadowed that naruto is the one who will TNJ (Nishuu) sasuke back on the right track. Minato bluntly slapped it on a tray for us when he stated that Kakashi should of been the one to truly understand obito being his friend, Naruto then bluntly and obviously looked at sasuke as he too realized that hes the only one who can understand sasuke and turn him into the good side. Kishi is making it too obvious. Sasuke at the moment is only fighting the greater enemy, when madara is defeated, he will continue his road of Power > love. If sasuke is converted as you say, why would they need to fight? If sasuke believes that Love > Power, He wouldn't be fighting naruto.

I would agree with you if sasuke did in fact use Love > power but recent actions prove other wise.
