how is this a theory? Obviously that is what happened. How else would you explain the loop. and the whole deciding destiny BS. The true theory should be behind how did he catch Kabuto under a gengutsu to begin with. That I have no clue....The rest is easy to understand....Derp.

Probably something to do with the proximity of the user to anyone else. Itachi did shout Izanami the first time Kabuto charged him and struck his sword. Thats probably how Itachi activates the jutsu. Kind of like recording a specific part of your favorite song.kinda like Record at 0:12 stop at 1:00

I was wondering like tsukuyomi that kakashi was under, does time go by much faster than in the real world? If so, that infinite loop is actually going on for a long long time while in the real world its only been a mere seconds?

We can also infer that Izanami makes one lose ones eyesight, but doesn't make their eyes close permanently. Unlike Izanagi.

- there is no time lapse as kabuto is stuck in a "reality" -
izanagi turns illusion into reality
izanami turns reality into illusion
- Kabuto is in an illusion that was created from reality - he will be stuck there until he chooses the "right destiny" which is why Itachi "holds his destiny in his hand" - but kabuto must "decide it"

As for sasuke being asked to leave - it may be due to Itachi not wanting Sasuke in the illusion within him / it could signal the end of izanami / the trigger for the end of izanami / he was keeping sasuke safe while he was recording but now that Kabuto is subdued Sasuke is safe even if hes not next to him.

Basically it works by trapping the foe in an infinite loop

If the foe decided the wrong path, he starts the loop all over again at the beginning

Itachi is basically forcing Kabuto to release the edo tensei. That is the destiny Itachi set for Kabuto - he must choose to accept it

Notice Itachi says 'you are the one who will decide it', he is literally saying to Kabuto ''accept releasing the edo tensei as your destiny and end the loop''

If he is forcing Kabuto to cancel Edo Tensei in order to dismiss Izanami, and he can't kill Kabuto until he has done so doesn't that imply that in the same moment Kabuto will be free from Genjutso and Itachi will go back to being dead? That plays a major threat to Sasuke's life what we've seen so far is that Sasuke is no where near quick enough to defeat SM Kabuto's speed and reflexes. Unless Itachi has precisely this in mind, the death of his own brother, which again wouldn't make any sense.

And that is the only "but" I raise regarding your theory.

i'm sure Itachi will leave Sasuke with another parting gift. With Naruto becoming stronger and stronger, Kishi is going to have give Sasuke some upgrades so that Sasuke can keep up, which i think is heading in the direction of Sasuke becoming the main villain.
