I'm pretty sure Itachi was scared as hell to try and attack Tobi to take him out. He had the chance to many times but he never dared to. But I see some people say Itachi would stomp him. Hell, I don't even know how Itachi stands a chance against Tobi's S/T ninjutsu.

I would just say Tobi > Itachi, but Tobi is OP'd as PHOQUE!!!! though....

No. He did attack when Itachi was alive; Naruto's birth. Tobi was collecting the Bijuu, he had no reason to attack Konoha after that.

Itachi and Tobi didn't work together when Tobi first attacked. Tobi said himself that he didn't want to get into a fight with Itachi and if that Itachi knew his secrets that it would have been trouble. I'd say they are about equal, with Itachi having more "power" and Tobi being more versatile. It would go either way if they had fought.

yea sure itachi cant beat tobi he never attack him cause that would **** the plot up. Them fighting is a completely different story, when it comes to fighting itachi's to smart for tobi. Something like what happened to tobi against minato would never happen to itachi.

Clearing this up (my opinion though):

-Itachi, with full knowledge on Tobi, could have assassinated Tobi and possibly/probably won in a straight-up confrontation.

-Itachi, without knowledge on Tobi's abilities, would lose to Tobi in most scenarios.
