I agree with you, it would of been better if Boruto and Himawari were born with Byakugan even if it means retcon or re-telling the story. Although I like the eyes can change colour even if it makes not sense for Byakugan.

I understand where you are coming from however if it was never stated that white eyes are required to activate Byakugan. You are only basing it on your assumption more than Kishi's lies.

He still is forgetful like a 70 years old person. It's not the first mistake he did. He couldn't even give Sasuke the right EMS-pattern continuously. I remember the summoning of the four Hokage, as well as a scene in "Naruto Gaiden" where he drew Sasuke with his normal MS-pattern.

I see your point, but also consider this point:

Your statement that all Hyuugas that we have seen up until Boruto and Himawari were simply born with white eyes and didn't have to awaken byakugan is true.

However, all Hyuugas that we've seen up to this point were also implied to be fully Hyuuga.

Boruto and Himawari are the first known half Hyuugas in the series. Therefore it is feasible for the rules to be a little different for them without it being a butt pull as you say.

I do agree however that it was a stupid mistake of Kishimoto to forget to give them byakugan while drawing a byakugan user right next to one of them in chapter 700.

But I find it funny that Sarada, who is 1/4 Uchiha, still has black eyes that turn into a sharingan, instead of green eyes like her mother has. We think more about it than Kishi ever did.

It's already a big asspull that someone can "unlock" the Byakugan like a Sharingan. It should've been part of them since birth, like every single Hyuuga.

I think they had to unlock it because they are only a third Hyuga.

Their mom is 100% Hyuga.

A full blood Hyuga may be born with the Byakugan but we never had a case of them mixing with other clans. They keep their Byakugan under lock and key. Himawari and Baruto are special cases so they may have to unlock it.
