Helloo, lets talk about "hype". I have noticed that many people claim that hype is not to be used in determining who is the strongest, however that is complete BS. Why? Because hype is used in the manga itself to determine who is the strongest. However, the problem occurs when people cannot interpret the correct, and use it in the very context.

Here are some examples ( many will rage about these):

- Kabuto stating he is the closest to the Sage of the 6 paths, yet admitting inferiority to Hashirama. Now see most people tend to use the "he stated he is the closest to rikudou after that", when someone says Kabuto admit inferiority to hashirama. However, notice that Hashirama has 0 powers of rikudou, besides the huge chakras.. There is practically nothing that makes Hashirama even remotly close to Rikudou. While on the other hand Kabuto was giving life to rocks<< something closer to COAT used by rikudou. So Kabuto was talking about "traits"... not "strength".

- Itachi is invincible: Oh man this is just beating on a dead dog. But however, this thing has been misused so many times, and fans have claimed "what if he was healthy and had those" and etc. However, do acknowledge if Itachi was healthy, he probably wouldn't bother to find the weapons. However, the "invinciblelty" of Itachi is only when he has Yata and Totsuka out at the same time. And if a reference to him having strong defense. However, that does not mean he beat anyone in a fight.. because people can easily go hide and chill out. Furthermore, there are many skilled fighters out there in the manga who simply haven't been in flashy situations or as emphasized situations as Itachi.

- Minato " unparalleled genius" "unsurpassed" and so on: People tend to bring this up when someone says Tobirama or Hashirama have bigger hype and are regarded on a higher level. But people some how believe the "unparalleled genius" "unsurpassed" hype actually matter when we compare him to people of the past.. Sorry but it doesn't. All of Minato's hype has only been applicable with those after his generation and his own generation. Not those before him. << Read it in context and you'll understand.

- Hiruzen " god of shinobi" "storngest of the hokage": holy shit some people still can't comprehend the hype. Even those who do not believe he is the strongest cannot seem to see what the hype is regards to context within the manga. Which has led to the typical "kishimoto took back his words" "kishimoto didn't give a f*ck about part 1 anymore".. no. Kishimoto stayed within the limits of part 1 hype. Because most people forget that when hiruzen recieved his hype in the form a "past tense", meaning "was the strongest hokage", "was the god of shinobi".. at that same time Hashirama and Tobirama were already being hailed as the best shinobi<< present tense. On top of that by the time hiruzen recieved his hype Hashirama's powers weren't even considered to be real. So again with Hiruzen his hype only applies to his generation and the ones after.

You see people recieve hype in this manga normally, however the failure to read it within the context is what leads to the crap about "can't be used" "is fake".. Say you have a mountain tribe in a isolate area and they have a warrior that is hailed as "the strongest in the world", because they haven't seen anyone stronger than him. While despite the fact, he is only on an average level when compared to the entire world. Do you see the difference? Hype is similarly used in a specific perception in a specific area and a specific time.

"sasuke is a genius", yes he is a genius when compared to my time.. however, lets say we compare him to the previous generations.. hes not much of a genius anymore. (made up scenario). However, he'll be hailed as the biggest genius with us, because we haven't seen those previous people
.

Discussion:

1. Explain what hype is in your opinion.
2. Is what i said remotly close to the truth?
3. Is hype a justifiable thing when there is not enough information available on a character?
4. Do you use hype?

PS: Some of the people will probably say "you are wanking on hashirama and tobirama".. don't worry, their hype is also fodder compared to Kaguya.

Hiruzen got fodderized.

Minato & Hiruzen couldn't defeat Kyuubi. Naruto inflicted damage on Kyuubi when they couldn't.

Kabuto is understandable with his Edo Tensei and Sage Mode.

Itachi got that one-shot technique

I like this thread alot of ppl get overhyped but no one said minato is stronger than hashi or Tobirama he is a genius because he created an attack based on the tbb and his s/t jutsu surpassed tobiramas even Tobirama said this

Asalamo alaykom,
What you speak does make sense, and should provide further insight into hype in the NarutoVerse. Thanks for posting.

His fanboys claim him to be stronger due to that hype. However, the context of that hype doens't even compare him to the people before him.

If a minato fan thinks he beats hashi they are beyond idiotic minato is my second fav but I know his limits no bsm minato and Tobirama is debatable

Minato is clearly superior to Tobirama in FTG and he invented the Human Tailed beast ball, and achieved Sage mode. The Leaf ninja were getting creamed in the Third Ninja war until Minato showed up and ended the battle in a flash.

He didn't need prep Time like Konan to figure out Obitos Jutsu and counter it. He figured it out in seconds.

He lives up to his hype.

1. he didn't figure out obito's jutsu

2. yes he lives up to his hype, when applied to his generation and the ones after him.

Hype is useless unless it has feats to back it up.It's one thing to talk the talk, but walking the walk is a different matter.
