Apparently because 2 inches of his clothing weren't burned, that means Izanagi was used.

Obito had no reason to activate Izanagi prior to the formation of the flames, so if he did use Izanagi, it was after he used Amaterasu and he cannot erase events that occurred prior to using Izanagi. Because of this, he couldn't use Izanagi to "ward" off the flames, so using Kamui makes more sense and is more convenient anyways.

Yes. And because Izanagi reforms you in exactly the same state as you were when activated, his clothing would still be burned even if Izanagi was used, the same way Obito's mask and cloak weren't reformed against Konan, and Danzo's arm seals weren't replaced against Sasuke.

Amaterasu was a S rank jutsu to be feared when Godtachi had it, but after Sasuke got it, it was watered down an not up to par with the shinobi he used it on. Sasuke ruined amaterasu in my opinion.

Although the flames were already on his body so they weren't overlapping with him. I'd say he might've warped the flames off of him since they were already making contact. Phasing through would've meant having the flames collapse into the ground and keep burning right?

Izanagi also restores based on the time the technique was used. If the flames had already burnt him before he activated it, the burns would've still been there. Then again, they didn't seem to burn fast that time (similar to the Samurai's armor).



Regardless, I don't see the explaination to how he avoided the amaterasu as a hyperbole.

Armor and clothing/skin is different, it burnt Karin near instantly
