Wait until you see one of the Admirals in action (youtube=D). You will like it a hundred times more. And then there is all the other great characters that are more badass than Crocodile. So just hang in there. I also started to watch One Piece about 3 to 4 months ago and it really gets you hooked the more episodes you watch, except for the stupid Filler Episodes.

well for me i loved it from the get go but the arc that really sold me was the arlong arc, still one of my favorite arcs to date. but to be honest if you're having a hard time getting into one piece then i suggest stop reading it, as their is no point reading something just because somebody says it will get good after a 100 episodes and you should only watch or read something that you enjoy through the good and the bad and the fact that you're asking when it gets good kinda shows you're not really enjoying the series all that much.

honestly, when i started OP I wasnt really that into it, but i pulled through and by Arlong Park i thought it was pretty cool. After that your on the Alabasta Saga, and tbh its not one of my fave arcs but it is really good. Then you have skipea, which is alright aswell. You kinda just have to go with it. But i do promise you that when you get to Water 7, thats when it will all change for you, believe me. Now OP is literally my fave Anime/ Manga. Patience is a virtue.

well since I was a kid when I started OP in 2003 I liked it from the beginning but now if I rewatch it the really, really good part for me starts at Arlong and Loguetown for me (because I know about dragon) is one of the best arcs, when Dragon:

I was hooked by the Arlong arc however. Everything after that was just more awesome.

Just out of curiosity, how would you rate the following arcs on a scale of 1-10.

keep on going, after the baroque works mini arc, it goes into arabasta, then you will surely be hooked.

after that it only gets better

I'd say it gets good around the 200's. The problem is that the anime reaaalllyy drags arcs out. If you are watcing it from the beginning (like I did last summer) I suggest reading the manga up until it gets good. You get the same story but no dragging and it goes by way faster. IMO the manga is just better than the anime.

Since the anime has very few fillers they use only 1 manga chapter per episode so they don't catch up to the manga. Shows like Naruto use 2 chapters per episode, but that is why Naruto has a lot of fillers.

Arlong is what hooked me I guess if your not hooked yet try & finish the Crocodile arc & by the end if your not into it then your probably never going to be.

I got hooked after the Arlong arc but I had a hunch it was better than Naruto Shippuden after Zoro's promise to Luffy at the end of the Baratie Arc. Anyways enough about me; everyone gets hooked at different points. The series may not be worth the time to invest if you don't the urge to watch more episodes/read more chapters. I suggest giving it one more arc, IMO the alabasta arc should get you hooked.

The arc after little-garden is pretty emotional too, so I suggest you keep reading/watching the series.

Don't wait for the One Piece to become good from a certain episode.

You'll enjoy each and every episode (except the flashback episodes, though they will fresh your mind a little)
The comedy in OP is unbelievable.

I was pretty much hooked from the start. The action wasn't that great and the animation, for today's standards, was a bit sub par. But I loved the characters. But when I really got hooked was during the Arlong arc.

Well, I liked the arlong ark - but as alot of you have been saying, it tends to drag out the plot quite a bit!
So perhaps I should follow that advice to read the manga instead.. and then perhaps around the Arabasta ark I can take up the anime again?
