Unimportant, how does photosynthesis help me flip burgers??????
I see.

Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard. A highly esteemed college in which he was already doing well at.

OP: Depends, if he can find a decent job and make enough money to support himself in the future, then sure thats good for him. Just make sure he stays motivated and doesn't let his lack of degrees be his downfall.
I just really dont know if he has any goals for himself. It's not something I wanna flat out ask this early on but I just dont wanna waste my time if he really is a bum of his own accord

well he's working a minimum wage job atm so I'll just guess he has no useable skills
Well, the word skills in my post is pretty misleading,
Does he have like a plan to move up the "ladder"? If he does, do you think he can achieve it (barring unforseeable circumstances)? If yes then it's beginning to look good, if no well it looks pretty bad. If you don't know the answer to my question then ask him.

well he says he dropped out because his attendance was really bad and they were threatening to make him repeat. imo that's not really trying your best but I still dont wanna judge because I still dont know the full story of like why his attendance was bad. never know
Then yours eye sight will bring out his truth , if you are up for it.

that's the thing I'm unsure about. he doesnt seem like he has a plan for the future. he's just taking each day as it comes. I'm about to graduate college soon so I don't want to date "below" myself like many ppl keep saying I'm doing

while everything modern day education teaches you isnt going to be used in your life, it does help in getting a good college/job, which pays your bills. if you're extremely talented in something else/a child star then dropping out of school on your own accord is okay. like beethoven or messi do not need to know integral calculus but then again not everyone is beethoven or messi

I'm no expert, but I guess a logical plan would be, stick around to find out/confirm his plans or lack of it. The downside to this plan is that you'll have invested time and emotions in something destined to fail (if it fails), but then it's worth the risk, what if it doesn't fail?

Highschool is absolutely important, almost as important as middleschool. Highschool and middleschool are at the moments where your brain is maturing its areas which specialize in complex, rational, critical thinking. It would absolutely kill your potential if you didn't have rigorous brain exercises that middleschool and highschool give you. Very, very few people are successful without an education, and it's in your and your friend's best interest to assume you're not the exception. It's best to get yourself a degree to have something to fall on. Wouldn't it be great to have a Bachelor's degree as a crowning achievement in your life, to say "I know many things"?

he lied on his job application about have a high school diploma....lol

ik ik lots of ppl make a living but it's just that all my friends are telling me to drop him just based on that one tidbit. ppl like him are just judged as failures and it sucks
I would say that such a relationship is unlikely to last and develop into something greater.

However, ultimately, no one else can judge for you, especially someone like me that doesn't really know your situation.
I would say that a high school degree, and I would really recommend a college degree as well, does matter greatly in finding
a solid job, although a hard worker and truly skilled person wouldn't be completely hindered by that.

So I would say it comes down to two things: One, is he hard-working/intelligent/ambitious? If he is all three of those, he could
still very well achieve success.

And second, how much do you really like him? If you truly love him (maybe you don't care for him that much I have no clue) then
you should try to ride it out and see how it is. It's pretty cliché to say follow your heart but really in life, that's pretty much anything anybody can really do.

Even if you don't, if you see something you really like about the guy, don't let a high school degree, or lack thereof, prevent you from having a relationship, although you might have to consider carefully about any real long-term things.

So really, I think it matters. But I think there's lots of factors to it and it ultimately boils down to your own opinions and judgment.

For our highschool, Calculus was an advanced placement math course which could be taken only if you wanted to. Calc is absolutely needed if you're going to a STEM major, but for the rest of us, Algebra1, Algebra2, and Geometry were all you needed for math to get a diploma. Course my highschool is in the midwest, so I don't know if our standards are that great...

The way I see it, it is nearly always beneficial if you're willing to go to the higher level, it's just like any other opportunity to get closer to a bigger thing which is college and so there should be no reason not to go to high school if you're willing to do that unless you have A completely different plan or if you're willing to start your own business which only few success at.
