What makes you think death is required for development.

And naruto attacking sasuke(or declaring to attack) like that undermines the madara/hashirama situation. Since that's exactly what hashirama did and kishimoto's trying to say that's not the way to go.

It's required to awaken Sharingan and mental stress is also required to awaken MS, logically the same should be applied for Rinnegan. Same goes for Naruto, his body has to go through extreme stress before he receives a power up. i.e : Sage Mode

The thing about Hashi/Madara is true however Naruto inherited the same Will as Hashi so the decision to fight would have made sense. And Sasuke would have had the option of not following Madara's route which in my opinion would be better since the Uchiha's downfall was their curse of hatred.

Not at all, it's way more complicated than that. Getting over grudges and forgiving people is part of it, but there's a ton more. You think the whole theme of the Uchiha Genocide was "love and forgive"? The whole point was that Itachi's clan was unreasonable and clung to little things like their clan and nepotism so they needed to be put down. Just because Naruto's various foils were able to change their ways doesn't mean that's the entire message, none of them decided to give up their crazy plans because of "love and forgive" anyway. Was Kaguya loved and forgiven? No. Sasuke had to accept Naruto's path in the end, Naruto humbled him and made him see the true value of bonds, it was well done and actually made sense, but there was way more to it than that and if you can't see it you should re-read the manga. I could pull up tons of really thought provoking quotes from characters like Itachi and Orochimaru that have nothing to do with love and forgiveness.

I said "enough of". Mean naruto has put enough of love and effort to persue Sasuke and enough of forgive and reasoning to turn Obito.
The one that you mentioned were not given enough of love and forgive, that is why they remained at bad side.

Development of character has nothing to do with getting new powers. Look at hashirama. Look at minato. Their flat as cardboard despite being powerful.

If naruto fought sasuke with intent to kill(which he'd try justify with his title (as hashi did)) nothing would change and the cycle would continue. Regardless of victor.
Exactly, but people still died the same. What actually killed Tsunade would be during after the events, when she is in a coma, she would sleep herself to death peacefully. That's the highest her character could of went in that Arc, leaving everything to Shizune and her student Sakura.

Naruto never declared an attack, he told Sasuke that he would not stand down if he continued his actions, Naruto is thinking like an Hokage, not as a friend.

Nobody died to S/T though. If tsunade dies after the fact I'd get your point but the attack itself was tanked.

That's what I mean. It's the same thing hashirama did to madara and it would destroy the poetic meaning behind the story.

How can naruto become kage if he can't save his friends? That's the meaning behind naruto since end of part 1. He'd essentially be saying the title kage is more important, if he picked up the kage hat and said those lines to sasuke.

He would've become hokage regardless. A better message could've been "people change" or "shit happens but it's how you deal with it that matters" or something. The whole thing was horribly forced with the flashbacks imo. It's not even like Sasuke and Naruto are besties now. How could they? It's just awkward, they only tolerate each other. Not to mention Sasuke is all hellbent on destruction one second, raising a family the next, being hokage, assassination/revolutions. His mental state is fudged from what I remember. The flashbacks couldn't make up for it either. The hokage is the leader who protects the village. Get your shit together Naruto and do something rational.

Cycle of hatred didn't have to exist. Uchiha could've been wiped out. They practically destroyed themselves anyway. Or there could have been solutions if circumstances were different.

@bold. You're failing to see the point.

Naruto becoming "rational" would turn him into another tobirama. Look how well that ended.

I didn't mention cycle of hatred. I'm talking about the asura "manning up" and killing the indra. Time and time again. That cycle.

Except in this story it would go full circle. In turn with Naruto being more radical like you said, would make him turn back the thread of fate, and rekindle his friendship with Sasuke. The same would apply to Sasuke as-well with Naruto.
