How Does the Sharingan Work?

This is sort of a spin-off from my last post, but how does Sharingan work? We know that the regular sharingan ccan see fast movements, copy, register chakra, render opponents into a suggestible state, and can help them control summons. We also know that it can evolve into MS, and EMS. We know MS is a temporary condition ending in either blindness or EMS. We know EMS is, well, E... permanent.

But that's where it seems to end for me, at least.

Is Susano'o a power of all MS or EMS Uchihas? Or is that the ultimate individual power of only some Uchihas? Does every Uchiha with MS unlock a distinct power apart from other Uchihas? Are these powers like devil fruits, recycling into new characters when old characters die off? Are these unique powers in a book somewhere? Are they even unique, or could, theoretically, any Uchiha unlock a Kotoamatsukami or Kamui? What are the rules?

Susanoo is awaken when you achieved both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi in both eyes. It is rare even among the Uchiha Clan. Other Uchiha seem to have awaken their own unique abilities. The other questions you have are like WTF? I can't answer those.

As far as we know, some MS techniques appear to be unique to the user and others aren't. However, we don't necessarily know which is which. The only technique that seems to be somewhat ubiquitous is susanoo.

i always thought that each ms have a different ability...not all of them have Amaterasu.. we have only seen a select few with ms and none have used the same abilities. so people, stop saying they do. you don't see kakashi running around shooting black flames

Yeah, that's about my sentiment, too. There's got to be some sort of rules to it, and it seems odd that we haven't heard them as of yet, since everyone in the Narutoverse seems pretty accepting and knowledgable of the various sharingan techs.

What do you mean by "rules"? I wouldn't think it was complicated. Its very simple. Those who have Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi in both eyes can awaken Sasunoo is consider a rarity among the Uchiha Clan. Therefore, those who do not just have a unique MS. Some only assume it is genetics, but that may not be the case.

Amaterasu, Susanoo, izanami and izanagi are all sharingan techs that can be unlocked by any uchiha as long as the necessary prerequisites are met. Any other tech is unique like kamui, kotoamatsukami etc. Dont forget that the rinnegan can also be unlocked once you get past MS. What haant been made clear is if its necessary to have EMS or not to unlock it. IMO I think it should be.

OK, so, you've got Amaterasu, Tsukiyomi, Susano'o as one set of unique Sharingan powers. In that case, Sasuke, Itachi, and Madara are all in that camp. So, Madara could not use Kamui or Kotoamatsukami, then? And, assuming so, then are Kamui and Kotoamatsukami really unique? Or were there camps of Uchiha with those powers? And, if so, or even if not, what other powers are there?

And what about Obito? He can use Kamui, but he's putting everyone under Tsukuyomi?
