If madara cannot kill him, No one can and with His healing and regeneration abilities, I can conclude that he killed himself for the greater good.

Every powerful thingy (even powerful shinobi/or jutsu) has their own weakness. How much strong it is, there will be always the weakness. Just like what Itachi said. Then explain me if Jiraiya can't kill Pain, why Naruto can? Ok, OOT. So it's the same goes to Kakuzu & Shodai. Just an opinion tho...

It's a question I've asked myself a lot as well. Edo Tensei appears to revive you more or less at the age you were when you died, given how Tobirama and Hashirama both appear to be in their 30s while Hiruzen still looks like a 70 year old. So he didn't die of old age.

yes, because in case to awaken the rinnegan, madara needs the shodai DNA. he made the akatsuki, asked orochimaru to join it, and made him to do some research. yamato was once of orochimaru's experiment, and danzo, too which is not perfect. just madara can, but he's getting old, and before he died, he gave his eyes to nagato. okay, I'm kind of OOT now, just trying to explain... ^^;
