sarutobi wasnt able to do anything when tobi attacked!!! taking care of the nine tails and tobi, it was all done by minato
Firstly... sarutobi was old.. what do you not get? old people get weaker... you should know that from real life.... he passed on the title of hokage, because he no longer was the strongest in the village... 2ndly Minato had specialties for dealing with tailed beasts... his ftg was a perfect counter... he could teleport its tailed beast bombs away etc.... THAT does not mean minato can beat kyuubi in a 1v1 fight.. like how pain fought him... Minato never touched kyuubi , he can't fight it....There are few ninjas who can go 1v1 against a monster like that , hiruzen and minato aren't 1...... If you don't have sharingan to controll it... you're probaly gonna die.....

Wow I love fanboys and haters. This irrational reverence for the third Hokage is ridiculous.
No one can tell any way that the third would beat Minato. I defy any person to tell me how Minato would lose to Hiruzen. Please do it. It isn't possible.
All we have is hype from Iruka saying that Hiruzen was the strongest Hokage, which is utter lunacy. Hiruzen might be the second weakest Hokage above Tsunade.
Why do people say Hiruzen in his prime? He was only in his 60's. Plus we have never seen his prime, but it can't have been that awesome if he needed 20+ high level shinobi to fight off the nine-tails with him, while Minato was fighting the 9-tails all by himself.
But once again, to the insane people who say Hiruzen, please tell me how. Just make one battle scenario where hiruzen wins.

Everyone should shutup with the arguements, both are tied for the strongest hokage. Hiruzen was the youngest Hokage, he was 20 or under yet was strong enough to be picked for Hokage. Hiruzen was called God of shinobis, Professor ( for knowing every jutsus in Konaha, non bloodlimit jutsus). Hiruzen has Ape summoning and was trained by both 1st and 2nd Hokage and was a student of the 2nd Hokage. Minato was considered a genius that comes once in a life time, had incredible reflexes, foot speed, FTG, road summoning, created Rasengan, had incredible analyzing skills where he could tell the strength and weakness of a jutsus by seeing it once, could teleport a tail beast bomb, has incredible sealing jutsus that allows him to stop Tobi from controlling the 9 tails, can sense others by placing a finger on the floor, we don't know his element ( kakashi said Minato was never able to combine his element to rasengan but it was never stated what were his elements. During the 3rd shinobi war flee on sight orders were given to konaha's enemies if they saw Minato, Minato wipes out a whole platoon in a few seconds during the 3rd war, considered the fastest ninja to ever live ( Naruto might be faster with KM now). Alot of info are still unknown about both ninjas, like how much chakra Hiruzen had in his prime, what kind of strong jutsus he had, how fast/strong he was in his prime. We don't know what was/were Minato's elements, he died around 24 so wasn't in his prime (would be stronger if he lived longer), don't know if he could use Sage Mode (if he could then he is unbeatable, especially fused with Ma and Pa toad). Could either of them open the 8 gates?

We at least know that Hiruzen was nowhere near as fast as Minato. And Minato was better at sealing jutsu, and his summons are way more awesome.
People like to give Hiruzen insane amounts of credit. I heard a guy on another thread who said the Hiruzen was better than Edo Madara. Do you know why he said this? Because iruka said that Hiruzen was the strongest Hokage. Iruka was the only one to say that, literally the only one, and he is a fodder ninja. Loads of people have praised Minato and said they thought he would never be surpassed or that if he were to be surpassed it would only be by Naruto.
EDIT: Like this kid above me. He acts like we have seen Hiruzen in his prime. All we have seen from Hiruzen in his prime is him running away from a battle where he has the second Hokage and 5 or 6 other high ranking teammates. And they were running from 20 people.
Let's do that math
7 high ranking Konoha ninjas, including the second hokage and the future third Hokage. They were running from 20 ninjas who called themselves the Kinkaku and Ginkaku squad. Not Kin and Gin, but their squad. Remember Kin and Gin had already tried to assassinate Tobirama and failed.
So is Hiruzen in his prime super boss? Evidence says no.

Correction, Hizuzen wasn't in his prime when he fought the 9 tails, you can see in one panel that he fell to his knees from exhaustion. It was 13 years before he died so he was 59 at the time and was the main one fighting the fox, Minato even said he'll leave the fox to the 3rd, not i'll leave the fox to the 3rd, Anbu and jounins. Both deserve their respect for being strong kages.

It's completly unfair to judge something that hasn't been seen yet. You can't give Hiruzen the win in his prime just becaue he was said to be God of Shinobi or the strongest Hokage. What are the feats?
Before anybody brings the SO6P in here to try to bs my logic, we have feats by him told to us. Now if we were told that Hiruzen defeated an ass load of shinobi with one hand or had did some really increadible techniques or feats in his youth we could make more of a debate. However, seeing as the details surrounding Hiruzen are very vauge, we can't. He was said to be so powerful that he was called God of Shinobi...alright, what did he do?
Iwa shinobi were given flee on sight orders with Minato why? Because Ftg gave him the ability to teleport through the battle feild instantaniously and kill several shinobi in seconds. We've seen this, the shinobi he killed on Kakashi's behalf even stated why he understood the flee on sight orders.
Saying Hiruzen in his prime would defeat Minato, when no feats have been given to demonstrate why Hiruzen was praised so heavily is bs.
I'm not saying Hiruzen couldn't defeat Minato, I'm just tired of the arguments of Hiruzen in his prime would defeat Minato. If you had my US history teacher, she would fail you and beat you with a baseball bat....
I believe that all the Hokage are equal and have just as much a chance to beat the others...in this case though I'm going with Minato just to piss off people who are voting for Hiruzen on the sole argument that "in his prime he was the strongest Hokage"
