Hiruzen and hashirama were both great ... but i have to go on Hashirama on this one. he Defeted Madara Uchiha! incredible Healing abilites, Wood style, etc. But hiruzen barely beat Orichimaru... just my opinion!

You are not understanding what I am saying people think the reaper death seal = him being stronger than both of them it doesn't it was the ONLY way he could win. Never said it was stupid I meant he had no choice but to use it.

He actually managed to defeat them without the seal. But since they're edos... they came right back.

Hiruzen has no way of beating Hashi.

Manga statements of superiority by characters are made for Minato as well.

Databook only restates what characters have said.

hiruzen was strong ofcouse... i mean he took head on with shodai and niadime hokage(edo tensei) both at once.....
but the fact that they being orochi's summoning, they were a lil carefree and weak...

Edo Tensie Madara Uchiha said himself that no one present was stronger than hashirama...

If hiruzen was more powerful then everyone would have been after hiruzen's cells not Hashirama's cells.... think of it....

I agree with you although I think Hiruzen lost because he died and Orochimaru just wasn't able to use his arms. So I think Orochimaru won that battle. but I agree with you totally.:y

i think that hashirama and madara were an after thought in kishis mind. at first the 3rd was the strongest but then he needed hashirama to be stronger so he could have the whole senju uchiha thing going smh in part one the 3rd was clearly sttronger he beat the 1st and 2nd and yes they were edo but so is madara ight now and he is whooping ass so yea i think kishi messed up by showing hashirama being owned by the 3rd

My question is, how much strength did Hiruzen Sarutobi loose from his prime to his current condition while fighting Orochimaru. The manga claims him to be the strongest of all Kages before him.
From my point of view, if he was half the shinobi he was while fighting Orochimaru would still not be enough to par with how powerful Hasirama is.
Lets face it .We actually gauge both characters by how powerful their opponents are since not much information are shown for both(Hiruzen on his prime and Hashirama)

Hashirama Senju Vs. Madara Uchiha
We all can see how powerful Uchiha Madara is.This gives us an idea of Hashirama Senju's capabilities.

Sarutobi Hiruzen Vs. Orochimaru
One of the Sannin. Was considered a possible contender for the Hokage title by Sarutobi himself.

If Hiruzen is the strongest(powerful,best,greatest) Kage the leaf ever had,then it is easy to say that his strength had a great decrease from his prime state.*

Correction, we have never seen an official and canon fight of Hashirama and Madara. Only a non-canon OVA from Generations. Additionally, with all the evidence I provided in my previous posts, it does clearly show his superiority and ability to fend off two edo-tensei Kages, and Orochimaru. Also, as I stated before, he went easy on Orochimaru out of pity, and had a hard time unleashing his full potential out of pure respect for the past Kages. You are correct, he was not in his prime, if he would have been, with the lack of pity, he would of wrecked Orochimaru. Even with his (possibly) weaker disposition, he still held back, costing him his life.

Kabuto didn't say that edo was perfected when oro fought with hiruzen. He perfected that edo after that.

Being the god of shinobi means that one masters it all. It doesn't make him stronger. Do you think hiruzen can handle tailed beasts + madara?
It is stated in the previous chapters that madara called the 5 kages weak so that makes hiruzen weaker and he also said that they were nothing compared to hashirama and madara in their prime.

hiruzen could have beaten madara, b/c all he had was EMS (no rinnegan, or wood release). and he only used one tailed beast so we dont know cause we've never seen hiruzen fight a tailed beast.. but he did push karuma out of village..

Hiruzen is the strongest of the Hokage mainly because of one thing... ENMA!!

The 3rd Hokage is unbeatable when he's fighting using the ENMA Staff. With it, Hiruzen tossed the Kyuubi outside konoha like a rag dog.

Without it, there's no way Hiruzen can stop Hashirama's Mokuton.

Yet Orochimaru bested him & Enma. Hashirama controlled the 9-tails without a staff. He also controlled other beasts. How you might say? Mokuton. Hiruzen can't heal. Hashirama can. Hashirama's Taijutsu's superior to many. Hiruzen's tai-jutsu's never been mentioned.

Back to thread, Hashirama trained Hiruzen, This GOD. This gawd supposively could man handle the nine-tail, but would lose in the end. Hashirama took on Kurama PLUS Madara. Hashirama did something God couldn't. Hashirama saved konoha twice, brought peace to Konoha, to his people and other countries in Narutoseries. Hiruzen died trying, but inna way succeeded. His death was unknown because in reality is it possible to kill him at the time?

Hiruzen is named god figuretively. Hashirama is god version 2.0 . Number 1. god is SO6P. Hashirama still lives on till today in Narutoseries and when u have god at your hands you create a disaster. Hiruzen created a monster, Hashirama created a War more specific WW4 (4th great shinobi war) in their time.

Hiruzen created 3 young silly gooses with only 1 living. Hashirama created Tobi, Edo Madara, 100,000 White sexy strong Zetsu's. Hashirama didn't really creat tobi or madara but their power's are x100 because of him. Hashirama created Konoha that created 2nd hokage that created Hiruzen that created OP Minato, that created Naruto, that created about every character you know in Narauto fromm the Leaf village. There's a tree that starts from Hashirama. He's not known as a God, But has the power of god. Hashirama is legendary itself being said. Edo Madara (who has hashirama's cells and mokuton which made him unstoppable plus the Edo), even still looks up to ole Hashirama.

Well actually, seeing as he took both kages out and still went toe to toe with Orochimaru, yeah hes the strongest for sure.

And Hashirama going toe to toe with Madara and Kurama wasnt good enough? Hiruzen didnt even kill Orochimaru. Hiruzen died. Orochimaru lived. Cool he can go toe to toe with Orochimaru and 2 kages, but he died. Hashirama was in no control when he fought Hiruzen. Hashirama fought and defeated Madara 2wice, dude who's the strongest uchiha. :flaw:

Im not quoting you, but quoting all the people who go say "But he said... was this..."
Example: "But Tobi said Minato was the coolest most fastest dude evaaar, which obivously means he beats everyone right?" (That wasn't really said but its an example), It wouldnt matter what they said. If he was god or the strongest shinobi, Orochimaru woulda been dead when Hiruzen fought him.

Who cares what they said. Naruto is the strongest in the series as of so far on the Shinobi side, you dont hear anyone saying he's god or good, strongest(people as in people in the series). It means nothing with what people say about another person. It's just an opinon. Itachi killed Shisui, an uchiha man with strongest genjutsu, he even said himself, but what? He killed him. Naruto defeated Pain, Kakuza but team helped, 5 Jinchurikens, noone said anything about him.

Their opinons (the people who admire other people's strength) probably as useless as everyones opinon because in the end the "versus" thread will never happen. But i still think Hashirama is better because theirs little info on what Hiruzen can do basically based on one fight against Orochimaru and with what people say about him. I go by facts on the fighters history of battles, then what they're possibly capible of doing.
