Exactly. Unlike the fodder-queen hyuga.I'd say she at least had some developement since p1.

The only real problem I see with Sakura training under Tsunade is that Sakura at that time would have a full team while Hinata is "alone". Such a start for me always suggest a Genjutsu Sakura and a medical + Jyuken Hinata.I'd disagree. Hinata learning Medical Ninjutsu and not Jyuken would be a bad move. She's a Hyuga. To suddenly have no use of her natural style would honestly be disappointing.
This, so much.I would prefer the manga without a character who is forced to be a main heroine.
Naruto and Sasuke are mains, and Kakashi leads and involved wtih both them and main villians.
You know what would happen if Hinata was the main heroine?
She would be another failure of characterization she already is and everybody would call the latest improvement in chapter an asspull. She is not as relevant due to some eyeball. I don't see people trying to putting Hashirama or Nagato in a relevancy or main character bucket just because of their linage.
lol she does not look like a womenAnd she actually looks like a woman and not a 10 y.o. hamster-schoolgirl with low self-esteem.
I mean it hardly seems to be a problem when it comes to alone time. Sakura made Chunin without her team. It wouldn't make much of a difference IMO. Simply because it was a time skip which furthered strength off panel. The only real problem I see with Sakura training under Tsunade is that Sakura at that time would have a full team while Hinata is "alone". Such a start for me always suggest a Genjutsu Sakura and a medical + Jyuken Hinata.
Hinata would get nothing from learning Tsunade's strength technique so this time could be invested into her clan's training. Throw in chakra scalpels and Jyuken could be even more deadly. Also a med shinobi with the Byakugan seems much more effective.
This is all assuming she gets more development than Hinata did as a part of Team 8. IMO, Team 7 Sakura with sufficient development > Team 7 Hinata with sufficient development.Sakura of Team 8
- Genjutsu affinity
- Role model - Kurenai could beat the fan-girl out of her
- Balance - 2 Clan kids + 1 non-Clan
- Rivalry - Ino-pig on opposing team, neither with Sasuke
- Love Triangle - still work, Kushina/Minato weren't on the same genin team either
- Med-nin - under Shizune w/Ino, integrate poison use with genjutsu for offensive/defensive techniques
The problem is we are making assumptions. Sadly it is hard to say. I mean honestly both of the girls would be AMAZING if both were legitimately developed.Hmm - a lot of valid points.
I think in terms of 'what would happen to the plot' if Hinata replaced Sakura - Kishi would write it to suit, the plot would work itself out regardless of who the kunoichi is on Team 7.
Ex: Hinata would become an apprentice to Tsunade (symmetry of Legendary Three), she would save Kankuro, defeat Sasori alongside Chiyo etc).
It would differ - but the outcomes could be same, given some ingenuity.
I don't think Sakura is the poster-girl of 'hard work' more than Hinata is...
Hinata isn't the prodigy, she worked hard for her skills and in the process created her own techniques. Yes she has a dojutsu but Sakura has her perfect chakra control/intelligence.
The hardworker with no real talent to begin with is Naruto - not Sakura. Sakura was blessed with some advantages, she didn't have absolutely nothing to begin with.
Hinata as a 'main' would have been more interesting not just because of her character - but because of her Clan, of Neji and their backstory. Because she's more connected to other characters than Sakura is - because she has a maturity that comes from a hard upbringing, though it differs from Naruto and Sasuke's sense of 'alone'... Hinata has suffered that to some degree also = a bond.
Sakura on the other hand resents her loving parents... her rivalry with Ino is gone with the ****ing wind and makes little sense anymore.
Her techniques are entirely Tsuande's...
I don't think Hinata would have used Tsunade's Enhanced Chakra Strength but I'm more than okay with that. I'd prefer it if that was a Tsunade-only technique anyway, it never made much sense to me that Sakura has it perfect chakra or not.
What Tsunade could have given Hinata was medical-ninjutsu techniques, a Slug summon, fuinjutsu and guidence in making her own techiques.
A technique to enhance her Gentle Fist = Lion Fists.
A lot of the medical-ninjutsu offensive moves look like bastardized versions of juuken anyway. Not hard to see how Hinata's blood line would work well with med-nin skills in offenseive/defensive/healing variations.
Team 7 Dynamics
Obviously it would differ - but I think there's potential.
Take Sasuke for example, if he were more aware of Hinata and her position in her clan, would he see himself? The less favoured, less talented one who seeks their father's approval?
I figure it would be a painful reminder - Hinata would embody much of his self prior to the massacre.
... then imagine if he had witnessed her fight during the Chunin Exams against her 'nii-san'.
Sakura was used in Part 1 as the agressive partner, who would punish the idiotic protagonist. You must be registered for see images
With the latest revealations in the manga (chapter 671) - I can't help but wish that Hinata had been part of Team 7 from the beginning, instead of Sakura.
Now, now - it's not my intention to bash Sakura. It probably doesn't help much that I dislike her character a fair bit, but from what I've picked up on from these quotes... Hinata is generally more popular and there's a belief she'd make a better leading lady.
An no -this isn't a Hinata/Naruto thread either. I don't think romance is key, nor should there be any real 'confirmed' pairings between main characters like them until the end (if at all).
Just wondering if any of you lot feel the same way?
Have niggling thought at the back of my mind that perhaps Kishi has his motives for not having Hinata as part of the new Legendary Three.
Perhaps there's more to had regarding Sakura's heritage or background? Or maybe the whole point behind Sakura is that she isn't decended from Ashura and Indra at all...
Sakura of Team 8 - I feel would have made her a better person, regardless of whether or not she ended up as Tsunade's apprentice. I don't think being on Sasuke's team did the fan-girl any favours...
I think Kurenai would have made for a better sensei than Kakashi - and it would have kept up the Ino/Sakura rivalry nicely, since neither girl is placed on Sasuke's team and therefore still 'equal' in that sense.
Also there's Sakura's genjutsu affinity - stated by Kakashi that she has a talent for it in Part I - we never hear much about it again after that. I think with Kurenai's love for red, use of flora/fauna genjutsu would have worked well for a pink-haired girl named Sakura.
Plus Kurenai could have done with a true apprentice, instead of three Clan kids who don't seem to use genjutsu at all.
Thoughts on this?

Sakura looks more like a woman than Hinata? Are you sure you are reading the same manga. And she actually looks like a woman and not a 10 y.o. hamster-schoolgirl with low self-esteem.
First Bold: Assumption. Pure assumption. Considering Sakura did not use Genjutsu even once in the series does not suggest she'd instantly master it.Sakura would last only 1 day in team 8 and be placed back to team 7. She would've been too powerful for Kunerai, Kunerai would've showed her genjutsu, and Sakura's basically would've Vern up in the tree , bored. Kunerai would've been good for Sakura, but Sakura would develop to fast. Hinata would be an mess inn team 7 , first of all it's an imbalance , even though Sakura and Sasuke were the yin types of the group, and Sakura eyes were the sharpest at the start, Sasuke still had the occular prowess, to occular beings in one team is redundant, even more so when Sasuke can replicate hinatas abilities,
So even if Sakura was in team 8, she would still be the main character only with genjutsu, Tsunade would still choose her to train, because she is the best for medical ninjutsu, due to her perfect chakra control, Hinata is average at best, but Sakura is god level in chakra control
XDThe manipulation manifesting an actual physical appearance honestly puts the control even over that of Rasengan... which is a ball... a ball.
