What if the technique is the purest form of sage mode or technqe..like how the animals draw energy from nature to turn sage mode.lets assume it's Forrest or wood sage. Maybe the wood is drawing energy from somewhere else, still natural energy but in its purest form. Hence the weird mark on his forehead.
