Right, Hitler is the most common example for mass killing but over history there were things comparable and even a lot more cruel.

Lol well...in the US? Not that much. History in American schools...at least 1st grade through 12th as far as I know is mainly like...American history and like random ancient history...we did learn some stuff about WW2 but we tend to focus more on the Holocaust than the actual war. It kinda sucks in that aspect. You're from Germany? What do they teach about it

Everything, if you don't study it in your country you'll never know more than 20% of the holocaust and Hitler time. The foreign history books about this topic aren't really detailed compared to ours ^^

That's probably true, and that's good. I had heard that they do teach it very...uh...detailed-ly in Germany to prevent Neo Nazis or something? (I could be wrong, someone told me tat though) But I have read up a lot of stuff about it on my own (cuz I like history...I'm strange), so I'm not just saying stuff because of a crappy school education. I probably still don't know as much as you, but I know waaaay more than my classmates.​

U don`t wanna remember it because when u have scars of a past as horrific and painful as that u would certainly want to forget it.....

Hitler, despite his "shortcomings", was actually a genius. He took Germany from a post WWI depression and led them to financial stability, as well as an overall growth of the country. In fact, he was so prominent and so valuable to Germany in the beginning that he was Time magazine's man of the year. True, he killed over 11 million people, but the Russian revolution and the early communist leaders killed countless more and in Africa today there is countless genocide rivaling, if not surpassing what Hitler did.

I agree. He was a smart man. Did unspeakable things, but no one can deny his intelligence. His state of mind was....just not right, but he was smart.

What he did was certainly not worth remembering but it was certainly something that made history and taught the world a real good lesson about what tyranny really is!!!

WTF? How on earth can you compare a class revolution of workers which ended wrong with a psychopath who conducted experiments on newborns in his concentration camps? Or who wanted to eliminate an entire race? Something is very wrong with the way you were taught history, considering the fact that if not for communist Russia that mourned 20,000,000 people - victims of WW2, whole Europe would still be in the hands of the Nazis.

The real problem with Hitler and the reason why humanity can never be safe again is that one day a group of people decided that some humans are less of humans than themselves; no matter if they were Jews, communists, homosexuals etc, and acted upon it. Deeming a man not a man, but less of a man than yourself and thus believing you can do whatever you want to him/her because s/he is not as worthy as you is the unforgettable part.
