Shikamaru is slow to realize that Hidan's chalk circle of blood is suspicious, which results in Asuma's death. Shika gets him on the second try with prep, intel and support from numerous colleagues. Proving that through hard work and support, he can one day reach a Sakura/Itachi level.

They didn't have the opportunity to allow Naruto to do so.

Itachi was busy discussing about how he managed to use Kotoamatsukami and what Itachi's intentions and hopes were in regards to Sasuke. There wasn't any time to relay any information at all and it's simply pure conjecture to suggest otherwise.

As a genin Sakura was said to be the brightest in the leaf, excellent recall ability, his intellect was probably the reason why genjutsu never seemed to phase her, passed the written portion go the chunnin exams as well as determined what the intentions behind the exams was for, sasuke himself said her intellect ( analytical ability ) was superior to his own even though he wielded a 2 tomoe,
Sakura knew who a shinobi should react, her emotions just got in the way, she was capable of hokage leveled reasoning as well, but her emotions.

And the fact that she accomplished all this on her own, not coming from any ninja clan, makes her better.

offical tranlsation of that scan says Itachi thought like a hokage not that he was smart or had the wisdom of one. Itach>>>>Sakura but i'll give her credit for her strategy with Sasori and Tobi.

OP: I think Shikamaru's intelligence feats in part 1 were pretty good. I remember Temari doing some math against him. Izanami must have quite a hard jutsu to use based on the complication of it, so it defintely required intellect. I thought Minato's plan to take away Madara's TSB was creative.

He has sooo many Intel feats it's crazy.all the way back in part one he was able to realize demon bros were attacking from the water on a non rainy day

He was able to plan all of this is seconds which to me trumps anything shikamaru does.the latter requires extensive analysis of enemies that can take minutes sometimes hours to form a solid plan.i f he doesn't have that he freezes and people die
