Ok, considering the other thread was just too old, lets continue your training in this fresh new one.

To start, lets kick the basic stuff behind our backs. Tell me what, in Narutoverse, is the following:

  • Chakra
  • Shape Manipulation
  • Nature Manipulation
  • Ninjutsu
  • Taijutsu
  • Genjutsu
  • Yang Nature
  • Yin Nature

Chakra
Chakra itself originated from a Tree, a fruit to be exact, plucked and eaten(I suppose), and since then people have been capable of connecting their physical and spiritual energies to form Chakra. Since the release of Chakra, it have become a sort of Life Energy, which we produce naturally but slowly. Essentially, should you run out of chakra, you die.
The chakra is spread out, into a system similiar to our blood veins, but known as the Chakra Path System. We got pressure points located around our body, which is where we release our chakra through.
There are a select few Pressure Points, which are like blockers, which keeps us from ultilizing our Chakra fully, known as the Eight Inner Gates. Removing the limiters, we allow ourselves to release even more chakra at once.

We ultilize Chakra to do feats we normally wouldn't be able to, such as creating Tree/water walking.

There a many a kind of Chakra. It have been mentioned at several times that each person also radiate a different kind of chakra, which allows sensors to define them from eachother. Natural Energy to form Senjutsu is not exactly chakra, but an impure form which allows for the mix of Phsyical, spiritual and Natural Energy to mix to create a stronger force.
Bijuu Chakra in itself, also increases the user's chakra capicity in itself, along with their overall strength and endurance.

Shape Manipulation
Shape Manipulation is a way we mold our released chakra differently. We used it to specifiy a shape, such as a cube. We use it to specify increase in size or decrease. We can make our Cube dense, or rotate hazardous. Our prime example is the Rasengan, which was manipulated densely together while rotating widly. Loosing the the compression it would simply erupt in an outward explosion.
Shape Manipulation is also the pre-training for Nature Transformation.

Nature Transformation
Nature Transformation, simply put - Is an advanced form of Chakra manipulation, which allows us to go further into it's mechanism and define our chakra's innate charatertics and overall properties. Combined with Shape Manipulation, we could e.g exhale a stream of fiery fire.

Naturally, all Ninjas have an inherient speciality which can be discovered with these cool paper tags we got. But in our RP, it matters little, as all can learn all, and the only thing about having a speciality in this area, allows us to perform it with but a single hand sign should it contain any.

Furtherly put, theres the ability to mix two chakra natures at once creating an entirely new element, being special from the remaining, basic five elements being Fire, Wind, Earth, Water and Lightning.

Ninjutsu
I believe we have three different basic types of techniques to do use. These are Taijutsu, Genjutsu and Ninjutsu, whereas Ninjutsu is one of the three. Ninjutsu is one of the basic molding and manipulation of chakra as described above. Often techniques are associated with handseals to make the flow better in order to perform certain techniques. However there do also exist certain non-handseal techniques, such as our prime example; Rasengan.

Within the category of Ninjutsu, there are several sub-categories which are used quite differently than regularly. This could be Medical Ninjutsu, Sealing Techniques which are often associated with tags, however still pertain Ninjutsu, Space-time summoning animals, etc.

Taijutsu
One of the three Basics. Taijutsu also known as body techniques, are the fastest executable actions capable. It is both quicker than Genjutsu and Ninjutsu. It requires no handseals and at most, it requires a stance at some cases. It's ultilized through our stamina, also known as physical energy, and can oft be combined with Ninjutsu for higher lethality. This falls into sub-category known as Nintaijutsu.

Specialist is this area, mostly seek to achieve the ability to unlock their few selected Tenketsu, also known as the EIGs, which removes their limiter, allowing their body to exceed normal limitation and increasing their overall raw prowess.

One could say this falls under the category of Yang, considering the physical usage.

Genjutsu
Genjutsu is the last of the three basics. Genjutsu is also known as illusionary techniques. As the name suggests, it applies illusionary effects to the target. Put simply, the caster takes control of the chakra flow within the target's brain in order to make changes to the five senses, thus creating an illusion of their choice.
It's more seldomly seen used, as most prefer the actual tangible, physical effects, that Ninjutsu and Taijutsu posess.
Usually while under the influence of an illusion the victim appears immobile, and in some cases they may still be mobile, moving around in the illusion itself.
There are a variety of ways to break a Genjutsu, such as creating actual physical pain to bring back to the victim to reality. A sort of override of the chakra system, being injected with foreign chakra in order to flush out the illusion. A spike of chakra to 'reset' it to it's normal state.
It was also shown that through strong smells with chili pepper bombs, that one was capable of breaking an illusion, but I don't think that's viable in our RP.

It's said that this category falls under Yin-Release.

Yang Nature
Yang, which I view as Physical Energy, is also known as the energy which is accounted for as vitality, our life energy. Self-empowerment, longevity. This is what I see when I look at Yang release. It's what breaths life into objects. It had a vitalizing effect on Mokuton, which caused an outburst of growth.

It's said Akamichi's Multi-size techniques falls under Yang-release.
Aside from this, Yang Nature can be combined with Yin-Release to ultilize a combination of them both.

Yin Nature

Yin Nature is also known as the spiritual energy. It's said to create form out of nothingness, alas it's the ability that rules imagination. Mentioned by the Second Mizukage was that Genjutsu itself falls under the category of Yin-Release, as I mentioned earlier, and such as Tayuya's usage of her Dokis, which proved to contain much more spiritual energy than physical.

Aside from this, Yin Nature can be combined with Yang-Release to ultilize a combination of them both

So you explained what Yang release is but...what does it mean "Give life to form"? What does that broad sentence encompass? Can you find me examples of how that was applied in the manga?

It was applied in the Manga by Naruto, mainly. It was mentioned during his training but they didn't go in depth with it, later it was established that the Kyuubi's half, being the Yang half, was sealed within Naruto.
When Naruto managed to make unity with the Nine Tails, It was clear that the Physical Energy that exuded from him affected everything in the vicnity, such as the Mokuton Totems created by Yamato seen here;
It also enabled him to sense Life, seperate from Chakra, and thus allowed him to differ between Samehada and Kisame, when Kisame;

Again, when Naruto ultilized his Yang-affilitrated Rasengan against a Mokuton being, it left Trees in the wake.

It was previously mentioned by Obito how Izanagi worked and that was through the basis of Yang and Yin combined however. From what I understand Yin creates the outline while Yang would fill this silhoutte with life, making it whole. Similiar to Creation of All Things.

Yang even enabled Naruto to halt Gai's immient death by, what I would guess was adding a supply of Physical Energy to Gai who had emptied his storage per say.

While there are other techniques labeled as giving Life Force to enforce reincarnation, I'm personally unsure which category they belong under, such as Chiyo's Own Life Reincarnation, which was originally supposed to give actual life to Puppets, in exchange for her own life. Similiar is the Dragon Life Reincarnation used by a Naruto movie char; Ryūmei Tensei however that is of course not a part of the manga. z_z

Personally I believe through the manipulation of Yang, Physical Energy, the user is conquering mastery of life force itself, to empower himself with renewed might, exude and reinforce pre-existing objects, and in the most dreadful cases, siphon physical energy other objects.

Its still a bit hazed but basically, it forms the basis of Medical Ninjutsu for example and other aspects. It relates to lifeforce, health, vitality. In a way, its more about resilience, endurance, resistance, strength, immobility, warmth and peace. Yang Release, however, is a much purer form of all those things you listed. Chiyo's technique is basically the definition of Yang Release in a way as she is said to have been able to embue life into an inanimate form (puppet). Life sensing, intuition towards injury and disease, etc are all, as well, part of the broad spectrum of Yang Release.

Questions so far?

There is no fixed way of teaching you to comunicate with your Yin and Yang natures and isolate them. I'll follow my own from here on out.

The concept of the Big Tree of Jutsu

You must be registered for see images

Now, the way I see it, all of the abilities we have atm in our narutoverse are the various branches of a tree that we can call the Big Tree of Jutsu. The individual techniques, the leafs. The branches are the specific fields (like Nara Clan techniques would be one branch, Yamanaka another, etc). The trunk of the tree, the broad field of Ninjutsu that encompasses them all. But the roots...those are yin and yang and they remain hidden beneath the surface of your chakra and the way we use it. Throughout generations, we have forgotten how to access the pure roots of our abilities and focused only on the techniques to the point of forgetting those roots. While we have, throughout milenia, used the leafs and learned the branches....we can still make our way back into the core of chakra and into the roots. We just need to follow and reverse the process.

With me so far?

Ok, I want you to sit down, cross your legs and lets start from a generic raw chakra technique down the path to a Yang linked technique.

Please perform a Rasengan. Describe it in detail.

''O'right, let's do this!'' :dafq:

*Sits down crossed legged. Extending my right palm out, upside down the other hand supports the arm at the wrist. (Puts on serious face), focusing on my solar plexus, or abdomen if you would - I steadily divert a stream of chakra from my core throughout the system, untill it gathers beneath the surface at my palm. Once a sufficient amount of raw chakra is gathered, I exude it throughout my tenketsu (Pressure point). Through extremely refined chakra control, I apply my Shape Manipulation to the exuding chakra which becomes visible as a rotating sphere. The sphere itself is created from extremely high rotation of chakra condensed within a sphere at the size of a tennisball. Imagine the shell being the tennisball, while it is hollowed inside. This hollow space is occupied by a uncontrollable, unless contained, vortex of chakra which is only waiting to erupt and emerge upon it's victim.

I sit with perfectly shaped Rasengan.*

''Some prefer to use Shadow Clones in order to make up for their inproper usage of Shape Manipulation in order to give the rotation needed.'' :hint:

Now, as you can notice quite easily, you focused and drew chakra from within you to form the Rasengan. The focus can be defined as Will/Mind/Conscious/Spirit and the drawing of chakra can be see as Power/Body/Life/Energy. All Ninjutsu encompass the regular steps of focusing, inputing your will upon your chakra, shape it and change its nature. In simplistic manner, we can say that Focusing and Inputing your will upon your chakra is a Yin component while shaping it and changing its nature to make it "happen" is a Yang component.

So how do we isolate one, from the other? Is it possible, to have form without life or life without form? It is. Yin Release is easier to grasp because it relies on your conscious spirit and Genjutsu, in general, is very akin and linked to Yin Release's core roots. For Yang Release, its different. You aren't as connected with your physical energy as you are with your spiritual one. We are, lets not forget, spiritual energies.

To achieve this connection, we'll need to use techniques that are progressively more about Yang than Yin.

Please describe, carefully, and perform, a Shadow Clone.

I think I follow you. But I'm not quite sure as as how we split the two precisely..

*Forming the Cross hand sign, I mold my chakra. Instantly so, I split it in half as I divert the half amount from my inner core, throughout a pressure point, and outside of my body. Much so, I continue to carefully, skillfully, yet fast to shape the chakra into a direct copy of myself forming what we know as a Shadow Clone. The Chakra itself carries my conciousness while also carrying all memories available before its creating. All new information gathered is seperate from Clone and User, however should the clone poof from existence, the Clone's learnt information is transfered with the chakra, back to it's user.*

From what I know. This technique origins from the basic Clone Technique, which is but an illusion. Thus siding much more with the Yin component than the Yang. Unlike the basic clone technique, actual shadow clones are capable of having a conciousness created from chakra, they can bleed, feel pain, they have ''life'' breathen into them.

Alright we're starting over since I have a different method of approach to this than Scorps. The only thing that has happened thus far that will remain consistent under me is the concept of the big tree and reversal of it since Scorps and I worked on that together. I will explain to you where we are going to be heading.

Canonically we've heard of the proportion or ratio of white to black chakra in regard to construction to the TBB. This concept was taken and used for YY on NB simply to say that: Yin Release possess Greater Yin:Lesser Yang ratio and pure physical essence is reverse. we use these ratios due to the fact it is literally impossible to remove Yang from Yin and Yin from Yang. Reasons:

Daoist canon states there is never light without darkness for you need to understand darkness to know of light. Essentially meaning the two are also defined by what they are not and thus acknowledge their polar opposites.

Narutoverse canon states that ninjutsu, in whatever form it takes, is a combination of spiritual and physical chakra working synchronously. Without one half of this puzzle you cannot create ninjutsu. All three subfields of basic ninjutsu (genjutsu, ninjutsu, and taijutsu) utilize spiritual and physical energies. Nin was just spelled out so I won't repeat it. Gen is spiritual in nature but we call it Yin release. However the utilization of chakra and the actual imposition of one's chakra on another is a physical manifestation, which means it does possess a physical (Yang) trait. Taijutsu is physical in nature and is more akin to Yang however there is a mental component to martial arts as well. Chakra use is apparent in taijutsu when you get into things like the gates or special brands of taijutsu like Gentle Fist. However stamina, in any sense, is physical and mental, fighting smart is mental/spiritual. Gentle fist does not rely on physique at all it relies on internal pressure and chakra point manipulation. So everything possess these two halves in Naruto.

So, what are we doing with ratios? Well, throughout the training I'll be taking you through a process where you'll be gathering your chakra in such a manner as to say Greater-Yin:Lesser-Yang or Greater-Yang:Lesser-Yin depending on whatever style you're learning. That is what allows us to extract the "root" in a sense of Yin and Yang. The purest spiritual chakra is where physical chakra appears just enough to distinguish the former as spiritual. This will be the same for physical chakra but in reverse. When we get to Yin-Yang Techniques we will be separating our potent, pure forms of Yin and Yang and then combining them once again for a ridiculously high grade hax mode techniques. The difference between Yin-Yang techniques and other ninjutsu is that with the latter neither Yin nor Yang are at their greatest potential.

Don't worry, we're not going to be doing any actual math, the concept is the only important thing. Also I'll explain to you the abilities you receive with Yin and Yang as you progress.

You're a piece of garbage elitist so you want to start with Yang first so we'll start there. In spite of my Sage title, I'm adept in both Yin and Yang with my understanding, capabilities, and preference. I simply hate people who think either is superior. I should let Chris teach you but I won't give you over to him so you can speak trash about Yin together.

O'right. Let's see if I remember most of this as we progress, I mean, I mean phrases like ''ridiculously high grade hax mode techniques,'' ''piece of garbage elitist'' and the last sentence are all easy to remember. But I will try to recall the remains as well. :3

Yang it is.

Going to do this two fold since I want to keep everybody on the same page regarding you, Jinbei, and Riker.

Before getting into the tooth and nail of everything, let's discuss the abilities of the skill first and what to expect.

Specialties: At this point in time you have no specialty because you have yet to complete anything. However prior to the rule being put in place that limits one specialty per user; you, Gobi, Xylon, Muten Akira, Scorps, LoK, and myself (shouldn't be missing anybody) possess access to both Yin and Yang specialty perks as your permissions/attainment of the ability itself prior to the new rule change has been allowed as exception. However, ordinarily you'd pick one specialty either at the end of your training in one area or upon completing Yin and Yang (should you achieve permission for both). I'm sure most people would choose the first of the two, however, there is no garuntee that somebody who gets Yin and/or Yang permission will get Yin-Yang permission or the other of the two abilities. That being said this is moot to you so we will disregard the choosing aspect of this.

Elemental Manipulation: You currently possess the ability to manipulate multiple natures at once, so dual elemental techniques that may present a lapse in timeframe can performed in the same timeframe. This is not saying you use two techniques at once this is saying you get multi elemental construction and execution. You do not, however, have the ability to use two natures with a single hand seal as of yet. That comes upon completing Yin-Yang Release. So, to re-cap, I'm treating you as somebody who only has Yang right now. Having either Yin or Yang gives you multi elemental manipulation but not the added perk of using two natures with one hand sign.

Sensory: Only after you've completed Yin-Yang Release.

Chakra Efficiency: Only after you've completed Yin-Yang Release.

Yang Release Perks: Only after you've completed Yang

Clear?
replace the parts that say "Gobi" with "Jinbei" so you're not reading in the third person.

Begin by telling me the properties of Yang Release on NB and where those influences came from in regard to Naruto-canon and Daoist (however much you know).

Daoistisitsistis

Never heard of it.

Yin-Yang however, is viewed as night and day, one cannot exist without the other. Inbetween theres also this concept I have heard about now and then Wuji, meaning nothingness or something like that. Drop a coin in a glass of water, and it will shatter the surface, but simualtaneously it will also rise at the sides. So, two opposing forces working equally in a sense, herp.

When there's sun, theres invetiably also shadows. Something like that. .__.

Before I start on the Narutoverse Yang, it's very important to understand the origins of Yin Yang and how Naruto adapted this. Naruto's Yin and Yang stems from traditional Japanese religion/cosmology called Onmyodo, which means 'The Way of Yin and Yang', which is based on a mix of Buddhism, Taoism, and Shintoism. Onmyodo took the occultlism and later the use of various gods and spirits from Shintoism, and the concept of wu xing, or 5 elements, and Yin-Yang from Taoism, and the magical elements of Buddhism so we'll have to cover taoism in some way to understand these techniques. An important artifact and book called the Tao te Ching, or Daode Jing, gives an insight on Yin and Yang and how it started.

"Tao gives birth to One
One gives birth to Two,
The Two gives birth to Three,
The Three gives birth to all universal things.
All universal things shoulder the Yin and embrace the Yang.
The Yin and Yang mingle and mix with each other to beget the harmony"

The above is a verse from the Tao te Ching explaining the history of Yin and Yang. Since this probably sounds very vague, I'll explain. In the beginning, there was only Wuji/Wu Chi, or Nothingness, the Great Void, represented by an empty circle. From the nothingness came Yin and Yang, the feminine and masculine energies. These two energies mix and create the 10, 000 things/universal things, which is just a cool way of saying everything. Through various imbalances of Yin and Yang energies, various things come into existence. Yin is represented by the color black and is slow, yielding, cold, wet and passive, the 'shady side' as it name means while Yang is represented by white and is fast, solid, hot, dry and active, or the 'sunny side' as it's name means. The mixture of these to form Yin Yang is called the Taijitu. This is just a short recap. In relation to the Bagua, Yin is represented in this aspect by broken lines while Yang is represented by solid lines.

Note that I said imbalances - though you may have Yin or Yang separately, neither is completely devoid of the other. Neither Yin nor Yang are absolute. Nothing is completely Yin or completely Yang. Each aspect contains the beginning point for the other aspect. Because this balance can be skewed, four possible imbalances exist. These are called Greater Yang, Greater Yin, Lesser Yang, and Lesser Yin. These imbalances can be paired logically - Greater Yang would contribute to Lesser Yin also being present. These imbalances act on the Bagua, or the 8 trigrams. Yes, the Hyuga have a series of jutsu named after the 8 Trigrams, which occasionally appear in the artwork for their Gentle Fist jutsu. The 8 Trigrams can also be made to form 64 Hexagrams, each related to a different aspect, trait, and more though we won't go that deep.

The 8 Trigrams each fall into one of the 4 imbalances, 2 each. As mentioned above, Yang is represented by solid lines while Yin with broken lines. This also extends to the 4 Imbalances: Greater Yang is represented by two solid lines above one another , like this = . Greater Yin is represented by two sets of broken lines, like this == . Lesser Yang is represented by a broken line above a solid line while Lesser Yin is represented by a broken line under a solid line. By the additional of a third line to the top of these imbalances, you have a visual representation of the Trigrams, as shown in the pic below in the spoiler and then it again when Neji uses the Trigrams.

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

Now that we have the actual trigrams out of the way, it's time to actually connect the Taoism version with the Naruto one and see how this all makes sense. As you said, Yang is physical energy in the series, life energy, vitality and has the ability to breath life into form. It relates to the body specifically, having the ability to make it more solid and rigid, faster, overwhelming life and physical energy, becoming very masculine through the use of it, which relates directly to Yang's masculine nature. Yang's ability to augment the body can be seen as a way to highlight it's masculine nature. Now what I want you to do is look at the first Yang jutsu and tell me if you can see the Taoist aspect of it and how it relates to real life Yang as well as the series version. After this, we'll go more towards the series and RP use and then techniques ofc

So essentially Greater Yang is

Lesser Yang is

Reverse for Greater and Lesser Yin?

What about those fully broken set of lines and complete set of Solid ones?

(Yōton: Shussan no Jutsu) - Yang Release: Birth of Nature Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: Naruto whilst in the Nine Tailed Chakra Mode can use the yang chakra of the kyubi to influence nearby wood elemental techniques or zetsu clones and manipulating the Yang natures life-giving properties to turn the wood techniques or zetsu clones into fully grown tree's effectively stopping the techniques in their tracks.
Note: Can only be used whilst in The Nine Tailed Chakra mode and be used 4 times per battle

This would be a usage of Greater Yang, i.e
__

Through the usage of Yang, it empowers the already lively source of Wood Release, with an extraordinary force of Masculine or Life force if you will, putting techniques out of control of the actual user.
Though Yang can't stand completely alone, have a small part of Yin within the creation as per Taoism's belief. Nothing created Yin, and Yin created Yang, and the two created the universe per say. So i.e if the Source of Life was a perfect mix o the two, it would now become Greater Yang?

Am I wrong? o-o
