Okay IC then since I have a Hyuga bio after all. And I'll try to give you fast replies to make it faster too. u-u Btw my character is mute so he'll be using a combination of sign language and writing to communicate to you.
Ryuu Hyūga appeared at the training grounds before his new student, a boy who appeared to be only a few years older than he himself. Smiling to himself at the sight of a fellow Hyūga, for he rarely saw any around, the mute boy started to write in the air with his finger. A stream of writing started to form, and it read:
Well hello there! I hope you haven't been waiting too long, but let's get started shall we? Can you first tell me what you know about the Byakugan and its abilities? I'll fill in anything you miss.
The words gently bobbed around in the air, eventually disappearing once the student read them.
Tanjiro hadn't been waiting when nezuko, his ninken, started to growl alerting him to the presence of someone approaching. The person seemed to be younger than even Tanjiro and he was about to ask if the little was lost but before he could get the word out, he started to write in the air forming words. Tanjiro became visibly amazed and confused at the same time, as he wondered why and how he was able to write in the air. Shaking his head clear, tanjiro quickly read the message as it disappeared into thin air. From the words he was able to gather that this was the person he was to meet, which made him hesitate ever so slightly before he could reply, since he wasn't expecting someone younger than him.
He would pat nezuko as he began talking to signal that everything was fine.
"The byakugan is a dojutsu special to the hyuuga, allowing them them to see the chakra flow, it also grants a 360 degree view around the user as well. The byakugan is also what allows the hyuuga to perform their own brand of taijutu."
Tanjiro didn't know very much, since he had lived in the mountains and only recently set out on his journey and any info he had was only told to him by his parents.
Ryuu listened to his student's response, nodding. Then he wrote in the air again.
Very good. To add to that, the Byakugan allows you to see through things, as well as see up to long distances away. In battle, it is also immune to flash bombs, so if someone uses one in an attempt to blind you, they will fail. Also, since this eye allows you to see the flow of chakra, if you are trapped in a genjutsu, and you suspect that you are trapped in one, you can always confirm by checking your chakra flow, to see if it has been disturbed. The ability of the Byakugan to see the chakra flow and all the tenketsu in a body is what allows a Hyūga like yourself to use the ability called Gentle Fist, which you will be learning today. Any questions about this so far?
Pleased with Tanjiro's understanding, Ryuu wrote again.
Well then, let's get started, shall we? First of all, we need you to activate your Byakugan in order to learn Gentle Fist. It may take you a while, but I know you'll eventually get it. You are from the famed Hyūga clan, after all. First of all, there are a set of hand seals you need to perform: Horse → Tiger → Boar → Hare → Rat → Dog → Horse → Dog → Hare → Rat → Boar → Snake. At the same time as you do that, gather chakra in your eyes, trying to get your Byakugan to surface. It's a lot of hand seals, but once you get the hang of it, you'll eventually be able to activate it without them.
Ryuu performed the hand seals in front of his student then so that he could understand better. His own Byakugan activated after he did so, looking towards Tanjiro. Since he was already proficient in Gentle Fist, he did not actually need to do these hand seals, but he did so for the student anyway.
(Dōjutsu: Byakugan) Eye Technique: The All Seeing White Eye
Type: Supplementary Rank: C Range: Short-Long Chakra: 15 (+5 per turn to keep active) Damage: N/A Description: The kekkei genkai intrinsic to both the Hyūga and Ōtsutsuki clans—descendants of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. Those who possess this dōjutsu have it manifested as eyes with featureless white irides and no visible pupils. And when activated, the pupils become more distinct and the veins near their temples bulge. To activate the dōjutsu, Hyuga but not Ōtsutsuki clan members are initially obliged to use a rather long and specific sequence of handseals: Horse → Tiger → Boar → Hare → Rat → Dog → Horse → Dog → Hare → Rat → Boar → Snake. But once activated, the dōjutsu user is endowed with a range of skills.
To start, an activated Byakugan gives the user a near 360º diameter field of vision bar one blind spot at the back of the neck, above the first thoracic vertebra. Its vision can penetrate through any solid objects or obstructions, and likewise remains unaffected by blinding interferences. But that being said, certain barriers and the like may distort its perception. In addition, it is able to follow high-speed movements, which enables those with this dōjutsu to analyze their foes' actions and better react to them. The Byakugan is also able to see chakra to a higher degree than the Sharingan and ergo, identify where a person's chakra signature originates from. Beyond that, it can discern certain types of clones from the real person. And its ability to see chakra is in fact so acute that those who possess this dōjutsu are even able to see the chakra pathway system and the 361 tenketsu that comprise it. The Hyūga clan has gone so far as to develop their unique Gentle Fist style in order to capitalize on this particular ability.
Note: Hyuga clan bios of at least Sannin rank become able to passively activate their dōjutsu upon one month having passed since Gentle Fist training concluded. Ōtsutsuki bios never need to expend a move in order to activate it.
Note: While traversing the NW, bios with activated Byakugan are able to see up to two 2 adjacent landmarks away while those of sage rank can see as far as three away, but this doesn't extend beyond an ocean landmark.
As the boy began to write the seals Tanjiro needed to perform he made sure to commit those to memory as best he could. As soon as the words faded away Tanjiro became super focused as he concentrated on his task before him. Slamming his hands together Tanjiro would perform the required hand seals, making sure to carefully make the right ones. At the same time as completing the seals Tanjiro would channel his chakra into his eyes. The veins around his eyes would begin to become noticeably visible. Along with this his pupils and iris would turn completly white showing that he had activated his byakugan. Even though it was the most basic of accomplishments Tanjiro couldn't help letting a smile wash across his face.
Ryuu's eyes widened a little in surprise as the boy managed to activate the Byakugan on the first try. He must be quite talented. Recognising Tanjiro's delight at having activated it, Ryuu let the boy look around for a few seconds before posing the following questions.
As you look around you, what can you see with those newfound eyes of your now? Also, look specifically at both of our bodies. What do you see in them?
As the boy began to write his next message tanjiro immediately noticed that inky black of the writing was now tinged a light blue. In fact everything seemed to have gained a slight blue tint. He would move his gaze to look at both the boy before him and nezuko. Now with the byakugan active he was able to make out lines running though out the whole body.
Are these... are these the chakra pathways?
He asks in bewilderment.
Ryuu remembered the first time he had seen the world through these eyes. It was truly a unique experience.
Yes, these are the chakra systems you have heard about, that live within all of us. As you can see, there are also these tiny dots along the chakra pathways called tenketsu; 361 in total. These are the places you can release chakra from. As a Hyūga, you will be able to release it from all of them. Tenketsu can also be blocked by attacking them, something you will learn to do soon. Also, look. Not only can you see our chakra systems, you can also see the organs. The heart, lungs and liver are just some of the delicate organs here. If you were to attack them, it would be lethal of course.
As Ryuu was explaining all this, he used his non-writing hand to point to the parts in his body that he was speaking of. He then created a multitude of clones; enough for this practice session. These would be essential as the student would need to see the chakra pathways and so needed real bodies to practice on.
Notice that you cannot tell between the clones and my body with your Byakugan. We all look the same. Anyways, now that you have your Byakugan, let's get started with the techniques of Gentle Fist, shall we? We'll start with the simplest techniques so you can get a feel of this ability.
One of Ryuu's clones stepped forward towards Tanjiro, ready to be used as a guinea pig for training.
First, I want you to locate a tenketsu of your choosing on this clone. Then, using two fingers, gather chakra at them, before striking that specific tenketsu. If you are successful, you will notice that the chakra flow to and from that tenketsu will be blocked. Try it out.
(Jūken: Tenketsushin) - Gentle Fist: Tenketsu Needle
Type: Offensive Rank: D Range: Short Chakra: 10 Damage: 20 Description: Targeting a single chakra point, the user delivers a two-fingered strike at the opponent, in an attempt to plug the chakra that's being used and halt its flow.
After listening carefully to his instructions Tanjiro got into his fighting stance. As he did so he would concentrate chakra into the tips of his fingers, and with his byakugan active he could even see the whole process as the chakra started to build up in the end of his two fingers. Once satisfied with the amount built up tanjiro would pull his arm backwards to it was at his chest, then would a violent thrust would send it into the clones right shoulder. On contact tanjiro would insert his chakra into the chakra point and causing the flow to be blocked from the clones right arm.
Ryuu watched Tanjiro's chakra flow with his Byakugan, making sure all was well. Surely enough, the boy did as instructed, striking one of the clone's tenketsu. It worked, and for a brief moment before the clone poofed away, the halt of chakra flow could be seen by the Byakugan.
Very good. The next one is a little longer. Now, with this next clone, use your fingers to strike again, but at the organs this time instead of at the tenketsu. You can choose any organs you wish, and your strikes have to be 16 in total. That doesn't mean you have to find 16 organs, as that would prove very difficult, but just that each organ that you choose gets multiple hits.
Another clone stepped forward as Ryuu gave the instructions.
(Jūken: Hyūga Ryuu Taijutsu) - Gentle Fist: Hyūga Style Taijutsu
Type: Offensive Rank: D Range: Short Chakra: 10 Damage: 20 Description: A mini barrage of gentle fist strikes that equal 16 in total. Rather than targeting chakra points, the strikes can hit multiple inner organs to cause more widespread damage overall.
Now brimming with even more confidence after successfully performing his first attack returns to his neutral stance to perform the next instructed task. As in his previous attack Tanjiro would gather chakra into his fingertips. Drawing his arm back he would initiate the attack the same as before but instead of one single strike would deliver sixteen swift blows. These blows would be divided between multiple organs; three to the heart, two to each lung, three to either liver, and the last three blows aimed at the stomach. Once all sixteen attacks were finished tanjiro would return back to his neutral stance.
The clone disappeared after the attack as it could not handle its organs being attacked. Ryuu nodded in approval before giving more instructions.
Okay, now I want you to defend instead of attack. One of my clones is going to rush towards you, and you have to gather chakra at all of your tenketsu this time, instead of just in your fingers. Then, as the clone draws close to you, rapidly spin your body. Let me demonstrate it for you first. I'll do the strongest version of this technique.
Motioning for his clones to move away from him to a sufficient distance away, Ryuu himself moved back away from the student. He then gathered chakra at all his tenketsu, spinning as he released it. This caused a large sphere of chakra to form around him, protecting him from anything outside it. He had performed the strongest variant of it, and so it spanned quite a distance. He then moved back to his original position.
Try it out, what I just did, at a lesser extent though. The bigger you make it, the more chakra you need. You can choose whether you want to do it at the D-Rank level, C, B or even A if you think you can manage.
A clone dashed towards Tanjiro then with a kunai in its hand, intent on harming the boy if he did not defend.
(Jūken: Hakkeshou Kaiten) - Gentle Fist: Eight Trigrams Palm Revolving Heaven
Type: Defensive/Offensive Rank: D-S Range: Short-Long Chakra: 10-40 Damage: 20-80 Description: A maneuver that obliges advanced chakra control—achieved via training in the Gentle Fist style—to release varied amounts of chakra from all of the user's 361 tenketsu, simultaneously. And in the midst of doing so, the user proceeds to rapidly spin and thereby, form a rotating shield of chakra with their own person at the epicenter. This functions as a defense to compensate for the Byakugan's blind spot as the released chakra blocks everything in a true 360° range and is able to send those struck by it careening back.
Note: D to C-rank is short-range while each rank thereafter will increase the diameter by 5 meters.
Tanjiro couldn't help but be impressed by the sheer size of the technique used but with the clone now dashing towards him he had to quickly snap out of his amazement. Even so Tanjiro was still able to analyze the move thanks in most part too the byakugan. Tanjiro would begin by pushing off with his right foot into a clock wise spin. As he started his spin he would push his chakra to every point on his body. With the chakra pouring out and the rotating motion a dome is formed around Tanjiro, with him at the center. Even though it was nowhere near as big as the one the boy made it still wasn't the weakest it could be, tanjiro guessed it was one step up in rank. More important still is that the dome of rotating chakra would slam into the clone, shredding it and causing it to poof.
Ryuu clapped at his student, pleased with his efforts. He was doing well. He wrote in the air again.
Now then, the next set of techniques require a bit more chakra than the ones you just performed, which also makes them slightly more powerful. Oh yes, also, do note that Gentle Fist techniques are weak to elemental attacks. However, this last technique that you just performed, Kaiten, is on par with them since it uses advanced shape manipulation, much like the Rasengan. There is also another one, which you will learn later. Anyways, for the next technique, you will go within striking distance of a clone, and then you will strike 16 tenketsu on its body to stop their flow. If you perform all these strikes on a single limb, it will not be able to use Ninjutsu for a bit, and if you spread them out instead over the body, the target will not be able to chakra surges of S-Rank and higher for a bit. It also reduces their chakra supply. A nice technique, but of course, you have to make sure you're in close range of the target first.
A clone stepped forward for the student, and Ryuu waited for him to perform the technique before moving on to the next one.
(Jūken: Hakke Sanjūni Shō) - Gentle Fist: Eight Trigrams Sixteen Palms
Type: Offensive Rank: C Range: Short Chakra: 15 Damage: 30 Description: A maneuver that in effect is akin to a halved variant of the Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms and accordingly, halts the flow of chakra that circulates in sixteen tenketsu of the foe's chakra pathway system. If the selected tenketsu are localized to a single limb, then the recipient of this move is rendered unable to use the targeted limb for ninjutsu for one turn, which includes those with applied passives. If the strikes are not all localized to a single limb, then the foe will instead be unable to use chakra surges of S-rank and higher for one turn. Beyond those effects, the usage of this maneuver will reduce the victim's chakra supply and any accumulated senjutsu chakra by 5% per use.
Next, run towards a clone, then jump and hit any one of its vital organs. Or, if you want, you can also jump high into the air before coming down upon the clone, landing a palm attack on it. Whichever you choose, the target will have a decreased speed for a while.
Another clone stepped forward, waiting. Ryuu once again went onto the next technique once this was completed.
(Jūken: Hakke Kakuu Raishuu) – Gentle Fist: Eight Trigrams Aerial Attack
Type: Offensive Rank: C Range: Short Chakra: 15 Damage: 30 Description: The user runs toward an enemy at full speed before jumping and hitting one of the foe’s vital organs. Alternatively, the user may jump from a high distance, then descend into the palm attack. After being hit, the target will incur a decrease to their base speed.
Note: Base speed is reduced by 1 level per use and the effect lasts for up to five turns.
The last one of this rank involves you grabbing the clone's extended arm, flipping it around, then striking it on its back 3 times to send it flying. Use any strikes you wish for this. This technique requires the opponent to have their arm extended, so its good for when someone is trying to grab you, or punch you for example. Try it out.
A clone came close to Tanjiro, aiming to land a punch with its right hand on the students chest. This gave Tanjiro the chance to seize the clones outstretched arm.
(Jūken: Byakugan Sandageki) - Gentle Fist: Byakugan Three Strikes
Type: Offensive Rank: C Range: Short Chakra: 15 Damage: 30 Description: The user grabs the opponent's extended arm, flips them around, then strikes them thrice on the back with enough force to send them flying.
By now taking up his neutral stance had become almost second to tanjiro as well as gathering chakra into his fingertips. Tanjiro would begin his assault would two swift jabs to either side of the chest, quickly followed up by two strikes to the stomach area. From there tanjiro would transition into four more attacks, two each to either kidney. To finish the myriad of blows tanjiro would perform eight more strikes aimed at the shoulders, four to each one. With all the blows spread out over the entire torso the flow would easily be disrupted and make it harder to channel though the torso.
After hearing the explanation of the next tech he needed to perform Tanjiro had a great idea pop into his head. Tanjiro would make a very sharp high pitched whistle, signaling to nezuko who had gotten bored and went off to be lazy somewhere else. With the signal nezuko would come running at full sprint towards tanjiro. She would jump high into the air and at the same time tanjiro would as well. Once they meet in the air tanjiro would use nezuko as a platform and push off of her at a downwards angle towards the clone. As he fell he would channel chakra into his palm and slam it into the stomach of the clone. With the strike having such a massive force behind it the clone would be driven to the ground before it poofs away.
Not even a moments rest before his instructor began explaining the next tech. This time the clone would actually look to harm tanjiro, but since this was only training its movements were easy to read, even if tanjiro didn't have his byakugan active. As the clone approached, tanjiro would simply grab the out stretched arm of the clone and using their own momentum he would flip them over so that their back was facing him. Which he would then proceed to strike the three separate times; the first two would be simple strikes but the third would be a double open palm strike using all the force tanjiro could muster, sending the clone flying.
Tanjiro did well, performing the techniques correctly and sending the clones away. Ryuu was also impressed with the way he executed the second technique by teaming up with his ninken.
Very good. Once again, the next techniques require more chakra than the ones you just performed. The first one here is similar to the first one of the previous set you just completed. Instead of just 16 tenketsu, you will strike 32 tenketsu of your choosing, and you can perform this at 1.5 times your normal speed. This technique cuts off a lot of the opponents chakra as the flow is greatly reduced. Try it out.
A clone came forward. After this technique was completed, Ryuu explained the next one.
(Jūken: Hakke Sanjūni Shō) - Gentle Fist: Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms
Type: Offensive Rank: B Range: Short Chakra: 20 Damage: 40 Description: A maneuver that in effect is akin to a halved variant of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms but is able to be performed at 1.5x the user's current speed and accordingly, halts the flow of chakra that circulates in thirty-two tenketsu of the foe's chakra pathway system. The recipient of this move will be rendered unable to use more than 50 chakra in individual attacks, which includes those with applied passives, for three turns. Beyond that effect, the usage of this maneuver will reduce the victim's chakra supply and any accumulated senjutsu chakra by 10% for two turns.
This one is pretty straightforward and simple. Just gather chakra at your palm, then quickly thrust it on to the clone's body. Normally, this causes internal damage that paralyses one for a bit. Of course, you won't see this as the clone will just poof away though. Another clone stepped forward wihin range of Tanjiro.
(Jūken: Shukūken) - Gentle Fist: Palm Bottom
Type: Offensive Rank: B Range: Short Chakra: 20 Damage: 40 Description: This attack consists of a quick, precise thrust of the user's palm to an opponent's body. Like other Gentle Fist techniques, it sends chakra into the target to cause internal damage that paralyzes them for one turn.
